It's going to be a maintenance nightmare
They have unlimited money this isn’t a cedar fair park
@@JJJJ-he8bz money doesn’t really make a difference. There’s so many moving parts, all the LSM launches, especially because some of them are so far away, will make it so hard to keep up. Id hate to know what happens if the train gets block checked before the drop off the quarry wall, that’s a long old evac down
@@JJJJ-he8bzit’s not even about the money. You can’t just throw money at an LSM launch and say “okay! Now work right!” Not to mention the blistering heat and all the sand, and having to get people 540 ft+ up in the air at multiple spots. And like the guy above me said, getting riders off that quarry wall is a nightmare in itself.
More money = higher maintenance budget = more uptime
Probably
As a Missourian, I can confirm the Arch here in Louie and Falcons Flight are almost approximately the same size. But no way they're making a roller coasters airtime hill larger than an destination!
Haha, brilliant!
Good work here. Then you add the cost because of the massive standalone structure for the Arch, and the cost for the MANY LSM launches and magnetic brakes through this layout. This probably adds another $30-40M. It’s far more expensive to build track high up than low to the ground, and the first hill alone is close to the height of I-305.
The first hill is 200ft taller than I305
@@iliketrains3546 That’s nowhere close to being true. The first lift hill is 200’ (105’ short of I-305’). You’re thinking of the massive camelback after they launch you off the side of the mountain.
@@iRunfastXC yeah I was my bad
I think it’s half a billion. You also have to account for the cranes used. Cranes cost a fortune to rent and this ride had multiple 600 foot cranes building it
Yeah, but their labor costs are a steal. (I'm suggesting they don't pay their indentured laborers).
For sure. Cost per foot per height of track is a much better methodology. I agree this thing is in the $500M-$700M range.
Calculating price by track length isn't a great way of doing it. Placing a piece of steel track at 600 ft is going to cost more than placing it at 300 ft. Not to mention Falcon has more trains, which are more advanced, the LSMs as you mentioned, and the preparations that have to be done to the desert landscape. Then there's research and development because this is a new ride type.
You'd have been better off building it in RCT and doing the inflation calculations based off of that.
True, that's why the standard deviation was so high at + or - 37 million dollars. I tried the price per track with a multitude of coasters to get varying numbers. Even ended with a differential equation at one point, so it was best to just use an Occam's razor approach to find an estimate.
I dont know, price per track does give an average. Obviously not everything is gonna be one for one so drawing the closest comparison is the best option. Also research and development isnt the biggest factor for the price tag. Most of the technology is just reused and upgrades from past intamin projects. Their is a difference between innovation and scale.
@@bodycambluemile Not when the labor is free (cough slave labor cough).
@@thenewgray right its a middle eastern country
Nice work & solid theories. Steel price increases put me out of work in 2008 so I can scratch my butt and watch your videos. Devastating to railroads.
What about the price to terraform the desert cliffs? Never seen a ride sculpt the landscape so dramatically.
It’s sad to see 3 amazing rides lose their title because they are amazing. Kingda ka especially was the first of its generation and at its opening broke 2 of these records. Maybe something in America will break it one day! I just can hope something in great adventure will break the tallest coaster record again one day because kingda ka or something here should keep its title in my opinion! Hopefully I can ride falcons flight one day it looks really cool!
Who cares about stat records.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news .. six flags would never in a trillion years pay for a ride like this
FREEDOM RAGGGHHHH 🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@calvinpetty343 I know that’s the problem
Kingda Ka came after TTD...
glad someone pointed this out, been thinking of it as a rideable Gateway Arch for a while when i try to make sense of it haha
that ride is going to be absolutely Mental
2:15 evil oil Barron money lmao
This is like Rollercoaster Tycoon in Real life
Remember that $25M includes the coast of the trains, buildings, landscaping, and other things for the coaster to exist. If I’m correct, coast per foot is ~$1,250/ft and each train is ~$250k.
wrong manufacturer though, everything isn't going to be apples to apples.
This is the real-life Euthanasia Coaster. ☠️
If you used the same method of inflation rates and price of steel increase, intimidator 305 would have come out as ~75M if it was built in 2024 which I cannot believe especially when compared to Orion which was ~30M. I’d compare FF to BGCE and parque Warner, bc it’s an intamin LSM launch coaster in a hot climate and recent data. You also have to factor in the cost of engineering the trains, but I get it, there’s no possible way to really accurately guess the cost of this thing. Maybe they’ll be more open after it opens?
Nah, Disney could do it. Guardians costed $500million. Hell universal could do it. Hagrid’s with $300million. Disney could make 3 of them 😂
disney and universal probably wouldn't because this is just too big and probably too scary for their parks
the scale isn’t the issue; all their rides are expensive because of the theming they pour into them. They are not interested in building a purely thrill ride and need to
have a complete experience with theming
They could but they wouldn’t
But they won't because they are not going to build this type of ride. That leaves SeaWorld. But I'm not sure if they have that much money to spare. So this will probably be a one and done.
@@thegatewaytoprestige it would probably cost more to build in the US
Clearly you took a lot of time to make this video. Fantastic job
Very well made video! Good job!
Glad you liked it!
wouldn't adjusting for inflation and then adjusting for the price of steel be invalid because the price of steel would already adjust for inflation?
I think the steel price of current should have been brought down to 2008 money and added in before adjusting for inflation in everything. Steel still has gone up due to materials becoming more scarce
inflation is one factor, not the definitive
I was going to mention something similar. It’s certainly difficult to estimate the price of a project this large. But I do think steel was adjusted for inflation twice. Also, in real estate, one of the ways to determine the value of a property is to have multiple comparable properties. It may be more accurate to use three or four similar coasters for comparison. At the end of the day, though I appreciate the video! Crazy how much that thing is worth.
You need to look at real price change plus inflation. So he's kinda doing an escalation type factor but it's still a really low estimate.
So crazy this is actually real. Great analysis!
Amazing video I was thinking 110 and was way off
4 mins in - You could do Skyrush
Man, Hagrids Motorbike Adventure was (claimed to be) 300 million made by intamin, I would say probably closer to like 210 million. With all the research and development, working with the mountain, larger structures and foundation, larger launch, all new trains with newly designed wheels made just for it. I can’t see it being less than 250 million.
I think they should change the theme that would fit this concept as a spin on the Gateway Arch in St Louis. "The Quiddyla Gateway Arch Coaster" "The Quiddyla Gateway" or something like would match the theme and would be very appealing to all Coaster Enthusiasts especially from Saudi Arabia.
What’s the budget for the power plant needed to run the magnetic launch system to get it up the hill
that's continuous expences, not initial
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
what does the Restraints look like?
They be acting like they have sandbox💀💀
I love your analysis.
You started with an adjustment for inflation. Did your graph of steel production price ignore inflation? Because if it did not, you are double-counting inflation.
no the graph was adjusted to disregard inflation
@@GreatAmericanCoaster thank you. Great job
Gateway to un-immaculate thrills. Say what?
Doesn’t the cost of the coaster include the steel. The price of your car includes the steel.
This video deserves more likes and subs
Planet Coasters gonna slowly creep into reality💀
a coaster that long and that massive is going to have a lot of potential saddle points. i have no doubt this thing is going to be undergoing extensive testing. the likes of which no other coaster on the planet has been through before
if the coaster arch is really 524 feet that's only 5 feet shorter than the Seneca one tower in buffalo NY
I was thinking around 150M with no research 👍
The only achievement that Falcon's Flight won't have is the most inversions on a coaster.
It will be open twice a year
Intamin uses Valyrian steel
Tobotronc is actually the world's longest coaster.
Taxes: Allow us to introduce ourselves
640ft tall. 10 FREAKIN FEET TALLER THAN THE ST. LOUIS ARCH!!🤣🤣🤣🤣‼️
I'm pretty sure, the price tag is closer to 200 mio or more, simply because the air time hill and the uphill launch are much higher and more complex than Intimidator. I would even go for 250-300 mio. But on the other hand, Disney spend similar amounts multiple times for attractions, afaik. I just don't see, how this investment will ever return its investment, it will be a statement most likely and close because of maintenance problems some day. I guess, your five to ten years predection is quite plausible to me. We'll see.
I think its probably 225 to 300 million in cost.
Cool vid bro but this is the 100 comment :)
I said that FF was going to be the FIRST 200 million dollar roller coaster
NO I GOT A AD THAT’S BACK TO SCHOOL BRUH MAN, I HATE THESE ADS
I'm going to guess 200 with all the theming and extras.
Like $330M or so
Shit I guess nobody has ridden Gold Rusher lol
Everyone all gangsta till they see the wait time
It’s in the middle of nowhere in a country that is not exactly safe to travel in and probably has the population of one state in America
the support structure:
itonly tallerbecause of the fact that it goes on a mountain and drops off.
Largest coaster is falcons flight
Over 2 miles 10560 ft is 2 miles
yes and it’s over that
My biggest problem with this new ride (and the park in general) is that it’s being built in Saudi Arabia, a country that is a shining example of why theocracy is just pure evil. Of all the places they decide to build the next record-breaking ride, they just HAD to choose a country known for being a serial violator of human rights.
As much as I wanna ride it, I really, REALLY do not wanna go to a country run by a hyper-religious totalitarian regime. I guess these are just life’s biggest dilemmas.
preaching to the choir
Who’s they?
We’re building it with our own money
Especially for us queer thoosies
I'm not going on that
You had me until you told me it's in Saudi Arabia
Yeah sorry not putting my life at risk
Yeah not going to Saudi Arabia. The women will have to follow the rules over there. You really want your wife in an abaya in the desert heat?
Taylor and Sarah rode flying aces and many other coasters over there recently. Maybe they’re different to tourists 🤷♂️
@@calvinpetty343 That's the UAE not Saudi Arabia.
