When the any% run is glitchless, you know the game is flawless.
Legit, I don't even count speedruns if they use glitches because they're not speed running the actual game they're just using cheats essentially to get way more ahead than what they should
The any% run isnt glitches. Theres a huge massive gamebreaking glitch used to get OOB, but people dislike those runs.
The any% uses OOB & Infinite weapons so people really look down on those types of runs. Still difficult to pull off though.

Flawless, right. It's not like most of the run relies on extreme RNG favors or anything lmao. Thankfully the game's speed run achievement is a lot more lenient so you don't have to be stupidly strict. The amount of times you see them just run by clusters of zombies and barely not get hit is ridiculous.

RE speedruns in general are just heavily RNG reliant. You can lose hours of your life because a zombie spawns in facing the wrong direction near the end of the game.
@@longlivetheking1065 really? I never would’ve thought of RE2 as being RNG reliant. The game is pretty straightforward to me.
@@bigstinker3897 The speedrun is a lot more RNG reliant. Things can affect a run like the sequence of moves the bosses use, the spawning/behavior of zombies, Mr X behavior, etc. A lot of this is entirely based in RNG and getting lucky can save a lot of time and vice versa. Especially on Hardcore where getting even slightly unlucky can completely destroy a run.
@@bigstinker3897 it is SUPER straightforward but zombie placement differs in the most annoying places.
im not a speedrunner but i use some tricks just for fun - at the very start of the game, after you get the medallion combo book, heading towards the fuse exit, theres 2 zombies that walk left from the right. if theyre SLIGHTLY off from normal placement, they grab you and you lose time.
obv thats the start of the game so its not that bad, but late game it can rlly fuck ppl up.

Leaving a like and a comment for the algorithm as a form of thanks. Although I don't plan on getting into speedrunning, I was trying to get the S+ rank for leon so I can unlock the infinite rocket launcher. I did deviate alot, though I managed to get past some tricky parts thanks to your speedrun.

Been trying to “speed run” with the infinite rocket launcher just for fun. My goal is to get it under an hour. My last play through was 1:03:34
I have found ways to save a little time but it’s insane watching how much faster he does this with only what the game gives you. Some of his routes in the station are faster but also his accuracy and ability to just run past everything in front of him lol crazy

@@jenniferhill2123 exactly. It's a little unfair. But I take nothing away from their skills at the game. I've beaten all four scenarios in under 2 hours. So I'm not complaining. But I'll never beat them in under 1 hour on a regular PS4.
I play on standard PS4. You can knife him, you need flash grenades to stun him though. You have to slice him straight away, run off, stun him, slice him again, run off, stun him, and slice him again, he will die. Dunno how he did it in 16 knife slices though. No idea.
@@Jay-we2ek the number of hits depends on FPS and they were probably in PC doing 120 fps which ps4 cant do

Thank you for the walkthrough Orchlon. Well, not exactly a walkthrough but it kind of is. It helped me handle my stress of knowing I was going to have to deal with Mr. X... Something about an large invincible being; walking at a very fast pace (toward you) is stressful. I just got Resident Evil 2 and 3 for the $26 Christmas sale, so hopefully you have part 3 as well.

Well it's damage it stupidly based on the frames you have, 120 frames is godly damage whilst a console (which I'm stuck on) does pitiful damage compared to a super computer.

See this could never be me I just beat Leon on assisted today and I almost shit myself when the lickers appeared in the lab, also for some reason I really love hording stuff, I ended with like 50 shotgun shells and like 200 Matilda shots, didn’t pick up hand cannon or flamethrower cause I didn’t know how to for hand cannon and didn’t feel like taking laps for flamethrower

I play using xbox one. How do you make gameplay things move faster? Such as ada’s part, the electronic gun she uses charges things faster. When you pull up an item in your inventory to examine, it comes up faster. Even running seems faster. Does gameplay just move faster on pc compared to xbox?

On ps1 i hit 49 minutes on re2. Took me years to get that time. Ive been playing remake and i feel like a speedrun on it will be even harder. Btw how did u get the hip pouch side packs without even pi king them up?

Currently playing for the first time today, spending a few minutes in each room to make sure I’m not missing any ammo or pickups. The inventory system, scarcity of items and ammo, plus the health bars of basic enemies makes it challenging AF

120 FPS just looks like cheating considering the game mechanics are delayed & damage is calculated differently. If anything it should be Records for only 120FPS. Then Lower frame rate runs have a different scoreboard. But whatever, man still got skill Props to the grinding.
How would you deal with the first Birkin fight on consoles tho without the knife exploit?
Try running and baiting out his attacks, and at the end of some of his moves you can shoot his weak spot.

I am no expert like the actual speedrunners, but wouldnt it be better to know exactly the number of swipes remaining on the knife and stop 1 short before break and switch to another? Then you skip the knife break animation and dont lose like 3 seconds of cuts.

21:47 - compare Leon's size to that of the police car. Something's off there. Why is that car so huge? Is Leon 12 years old? Even given that the car's probably a little taller than normal because it's on uneven ground, the car's still _way_ taller than Leon.
Killing Birkin with a knife that quick is an FPS exploit if i recall. And most speedrunners play on PC. So how does one go about it on console?

My first run took me like 12 hours. 2nd with claire 1 hour 10 minutes. So yep for beginner's it's confusing af.

i finished Leon A first playthrough without hints and walkthroughs at 12 hour mark, i remember i escaped police station at 6 hour mark LOL, thats the most annoying puzzles and mazes, and it just got easier as game pass by. WP though nice speedrun

8 hours isn't totally bad for a first time resident evil game and a first playthrough, I know this post is months old, but the time can be dramatically cut down after you've played it through once or twice, I got my time down to about 2 and a half hours, I'm playing through it again at the moment and has took abit longer than that to even get just over halfway as I had forgotten where some of the items were placed
