I like how Smaug was fully aware someone was shooting him and just ignored Bard until the moment he ran out of arrows. THEN Smaug confronted Bard in order to gloat about his own superiority.
7:15 “you have… nothing left…. BUT YOUR DEATH!!!” Felt so powerful, this is probably one of the best quotes of Smaug along with the “I am fire, I am death” quote from the other film
7:36-7:43 Black arrow, you’ve never failed me and I have recovered you. I had you from my father and he from of old. If ever you came from the forges of the true king under the mountain. Go now and speed well
This is exactly how I imagine a chromatic dragon attack in DnD to go on a normal town. Depending on the kind of dragon, the attack might be way more devastating.
Black dragon (my favorite evil dragon) would be much more devasating. But to kill a dragon you have to be 100% right the very first time. No room for error
How Bard wanted to kill the dragon with regular arrows, if even the "black arrow" would be too small for him , to be honest. Even if regular arrows had stuck in, it wouldn't have been a splinter in Smaug's side 😢😢😢
ever since my mom read the initial smaug segment of The Hobbit to me in our backyard on the hammock, as a kid sometime in like the early 2000s, smaug has been my favorite dragon character. so i didnt want to go see this knowing that he wouldn't have much of a role. i was so right in not going to this
@@ChristopherCLibre This trilogy is very enjoyable but the book is better because it is only 300 pages long and very easy to read. They also added unnecessary details or characters (like Tauriel or Kili getting hit with the morgul arrow). The escape from the woodland elves also didn't have any orcs in the book and it is unnecessary in the movies.
How they wasted the dwarvish wind lance… it was introduced in the second movie and never shown again. The story of Girion being introduced and then abandoned… only to have Bard prepping an improbable bow using two pointers of wood and his son’s shoulder…
Yep that’s not how tension works as well. Literally with the shape of the “bow” and other factors (cba to type it all) also taking into account how heavy that arrow would be… at best, as soon as he loosed it, it might’ve gone a foot before it fell 😂
@@Firescale8k yeah, I was not considering the feasibility of it all. The problem was, I think, that they created the character of Bard out of almost nothing: the characters in The Hobbit by JRRT are thin and not well characterized in general. I appreciated PJ and co. giving depth to Bard and showing Laketown in such a rich way, but at that point it could have been better having Bard reaching the wind lance and using the black arrow without having his son around. They would have closed the circle so to speak, at least a - albeit weak - payoff would have been achieved. I don't know, it's like they had not finished writing the screenplay while shooting. They set up things only to abandon them later on...
@@DonatoColangelo I can’t even see it in the attack, if I went frame by frame I might be able to but I couldn’t see it just watching it. Did they just forget about it or am I missing it 🤣
You can tell that Peter Jackson was sick of working on this trilogy and all the executive meddling by the third film and he just wanted to get it out of the way.
It was actually a trush that knocked against the magic door in the books that listened to Bilbo finding out Smaugs weak spot which later told Bard to be patient and shoot only when the weak spot on Smaug's left thorax be visible.
Ok please explain me how tf Smaug can be defeated by only One single arrow? You can not kill a bear, a Tiger, a lion, a crocodile with only one arrow, but a fucking dragon???!!! Explain me if a miss something because I can not understand 💀

Well: Putin.
"Well: Putin"
And here lies before you, some freak who's so brainwashed he speaks like that.
"Putin bad. Checkmate"

now that i watch it back i thought Smaug was a pure Dragon it turned out we was a Wyvern..
but he's pretty massive and strong for a wyvern

Everything has a weakness smaugs is the hole in his armor just like in the old movies
The point wasn't about success, it was about the attempt in the hope that MAYBE he could stop it.
In the book, a thrush that overhears Bilbo and the dwarves tells Bard about the chink in Smaug’s armour.

They should’ve just had this be the ending of the second movie.
Just so you all know, Smaug was literally the size of a gnat compared to Ancalagon the Black.
I mean that’s like comparing a house cat to a lion.
@@rusty7984 Not even close, the gnat to person comparison is a closer estimate
Ancalagon was big, but I'm sceptical that he was THAT big.
Doesn't really matter when Smaug was the only dragon left.
RIP Doctor Strange :D
5:45 this image stuck in my mind for a min rofl like why he was frozen like that and Dad just took the arrow like "give me that"
Smaug be moving like a video game boss
I❤️dragons 🔥 🐉
I enjoy the Hobbit Trilogy very much

Hobbit is really fun to watch, Idk why some lotr fans hating it
I just rewatched it and it’s so great. I miss waiting for these films to come out!

It's no LOTR but it has it's place.
Was it worth waiting another year to see Smaug defeated and Bard getting his back on the Master?
Yes
How they wasted the dwarvish wind lance… it was introduced in the second movie and never shown again. The story of Girion being introduced and then abandoned… only to have Bard prepping an improbable bow using two pointers of wood and his son’s shoulder…
Yep, wasted storytelling

You have to watch previous parts for it to understand
Real life isn’t video game logic. Any of those animals could be killed with a single arrow.
More dragon 🐲
