Oh wow!! I didn’t get to see it on Broadway. I did write to the Disney Channel when I was 13, after I discovered Newsies, & told them how much I loved the movie… and Christian Bale. They sent me a packet with a little booklet about the filming of the movie, a small poster, & I think a bookmark. I was thrilled!

So glad you explained your thoughts on the storage units. I used to go to auctions when my friend and I worked the flea market. Sometimes they would auction individual things. I figured that the owner had taken what he wanted out before we got there. Sometimes they would auction the whole unit. That was a job. One time we found a large number of rat carcasses but we only paid a dollar for it. We did get a wood stove out of it and made money when we sold it. So I didn’t like cleaning out the units. I think that I might have missed a few of your previous comments, apologies! I've been trying to keep up, wish that TH-cam made the "search" field a bit easier to navigate! I hope that the storage units continue to allow me extra time for my research... though the Civil War soldier will keep me busy with all of the names & places he casually mentions. If only he knew! The Christmas pyramid sounds lovely to me :0) The pencil tree is much easier space-wise. A few years ago, I had the vintage aluminum pom pom tree up & that is so difficult to put each branch away, trying to be as careful as possible. There must be a tree that is like an umbrella - just press a button and it sets itself up! Hope that you have a wonderful Christmas as well!

Thank you for the kind words! I know that the topic of storage auctions can be touchy, and I understand why. Most facilities, from employees that I've spoken to, dislike auctions because of all the additional paperwork, legal matters, etc. and try as hard as they can to work with people. Of course, not all facilities are like that, sadly.

OMG! this is the first time I have heard you mention the war diary's. I have soooo wondered. My breath dropped the day you bought those. I tried so hard to find a way to contact you. The email I found did not work for me! Those can be purchased by a museum (thats where they belong eventually ) They are worth a great deal, they are History. A great suggestion is to contact Ken Burns the Documentary film maker. He could not only help direct you in where to research but also in the sale of them when you are ready. I wish you would read them on tape so we could buy the audio, I would! I love watching you, such a kind person. Merry Xmas!

Your tree is very neat, as is little "PAM" Thank you, Renee, for all of your efforts in producing the interesting and entertaining adventures...looking forward to future installments! It's great that you and Taco work as a team in dealing with the job of going through the units. Years ago, a friend and I did basement cleanouts...and some of the items we found were both unique and had value. The offspring of the home owner, just wanted to be rid of the stuff...to a broom clean space, to sell the home. Believe it or not...that's how my fr-g collection had its real start, as well as vintage telephones, records, and radios. In those days, all the old stuff ended up in the dark recesses of the basement! Presently, the same is happening here in my basement...the downsizing of my vintage collections...thankfully...that museum I'm donating to is giving these pieces a long duration home...not end up in dumpsters! At my stage in life...I have to be aware of falls...don't want any "soft spots"! I'll have to check Funions out!!! If sold in my area! Again, have a Merry Little Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Merry Christmas to you and your family and friends. I am interested in your storage units, and your follow up on them, as I am too old, and my back would not allow me to do them. I like the way you talk about all the things you find.
I must say that I do like the storage units videos, there is the suspense and excitement factors and your reactions are priceless! Storage unit auctions are less of a thing in the UK as there are less storage units over here, but more and more are owning up around the country so I am guessing auctions will be more likely in the future. Most finds over here often come from house clearances, buying cheap lots at auctions and lucky finds at recycling sites. Charity shops can be a good source but they are very hit and miss and luck is certainly a factor!
I know of one storage facility that is expanding one single location with at least 3 additional buildings of units. It's amazing what people store and what they pay to store. I think some take advantage of the "First month free" as a means to dump off unwanted items if they are moving far, as it is cheaper than taking to the landfill or renting a dumpster.

Hi - thanks for a thoughtful discussion of the storage unit "issue." My Mom had a Johnny Mathis Christmas album that she played while we all decorated the tree. It was one of the first things I bought for the holidays when I got my own place. I do like the Carpenters, though. I imagine you know that Karen Carpenter was voted best rock drummer of 1975 in a Playboy poll, ahead of Ringo Starr, John Bonham & Keith Moon. She was 25. Buzz & Dickel hit it out of the park. You will be wearing that 100K shirt soon. Wishing you and your family friends, and all watchers of your channel a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year (or Happy Holidays if some celebrate other traditions). P.S. The Johnny Mathis Christmas album is a great one! My mom played that too, but the Carpenters was always the first album that would be played when the decorating or cookie baking started. My father loved finding what to him were oddball shows such as Storage Wars and then introducing them to me. I loved the whole storage auction thing, and we loved watching them together. When I saw one of your auction videos in the sidebar I couldn't resist. Now I watch you and Taco Stacks whenever I get a chance. You're both so relaxing to watch. I love watching your videos, please keep them coming. These bring back such fond memories from years ago. My family and I would bid on storage units. but this was before Storage Wars aired. We could go to an auction and there may be 5 bidders would be there sometimes a few more. We were a small group at the time that would bid on units. Once Storage Wars started airing and people started seeing how 'easy' it was to find lots of treasure and make a lot of money our little friendly group of 5 - 10 bidders grew to 150 to 200. My gosh, there were units that should have been a $50 unit going for $1000 or more. There is a lot they don't show that one has to do once you buy a unit, or two or three. You mention it all the time, you have limited time to get everything out of it. Usually a couple of days. Then you have to have a place to sort, store the stuff if need be, you know the drill. lol The largest unit I bought was a 12' or 15' by 30'. When they opened the door it was stacked full, floor to ceiling. There was a little walkway down the middle of it. Amazing. There was a piece of specialized equipment right in the front, I noticed we walked by and I took my son to the side I think we are interested depending on the price. Do to the size, the amount of stuff, people were leery or bidding. We picked it up for $575. I asked my son if he remembered that large gray box up on legs right up front when we did our inspection? That will pay for the unit maybe even a bit more depending on the condition. After a ton of donations selling the prime items on line and we kept a few. Lots of dump runs. We did very well on that one. There was one thing family we always kept in the backs of our minds tho. That this was someone's family's live. Even if it is a trashy one still one did own it. We were very respectful when it is like someone's passed and their life was put into a locker. Or Gramps passed and Gramma down sized. It is where you know it was someone's home that you are going through. Sometimes that would bug me a little. Sorry to ramble. Good luck on all of your treasure-hunting endeavors. Have fun! A great suggestion is to contact Ken Burns the Documentary film maker. He could not only help direct you in where to research but also in the sale of them when you are ready. Your tree is very neat, as is little "PAM" Thank you, Renee, for all of your efforts in producing the interesting and entertaining adventures...looking forward to future installments! It's great that you and Taco work as a team in dealing with the job of going through the units. Years ago, a friend and I did basement cleanouts...and some of the items we found were both unique and had value. The offspring of the home owner, just wanted to be rid of the stuff...to a broom clean space, to sell the home. Believe it or not...that's how my fr-g collection had its real start, as well as vintage telephones, records, and radios. In those days, all the old stuff ended up in the dark recesses of the basement! Presently, the same is happening here in my basement...the downsizing of my vintage collections...thankfully...that museum I'm donating to is giving these pieces a long duration home...not end up in dumpsters! At my stage in life...I have to be aware of falls...don't want any "soft spots"! I'll have to check Funions out!!! If sold in my area! Again, have a Merry Little Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

I must say that I do like the storage units videos, there is the suspense and excitement factors and your reactions are priceless! Storage unit auctions are less of a thing in the UK as there are less storage units over here, but more and more are owning up around the country so I am guessing auctions will be more likely in the future. Most finds over here often come from house clearances, buying cheap lots at auctions and lucky finds at recycling sites. Charity shops can be a good source but they are very hit and miss and luck is certainly a factor!
I know of one storage facility that is expanding one single location with at least 3 additional buildings of units. It's amazing what people store and what they pay to store. I think some take advantage of the "First month free" as a means to dump off unwanted items if they are moving far, as it is cheaper than taking to the landfill or renting a dumpster.

Hi - thanks for a thoughtful discussion of the storage unit "issue." My Mom had a Johnny Mathis Christmas album that she played while we all decorated the tree. It was one of the first things I bought for the holidays when I got my own place. I do like the Carpenters, though. I imagine you know that Karen Carpenter was voted best rock drummer of 1975 in a Playboy poll, ahead of Ringo Starr, John Bonham & Keith Moon. She was 25. Buzz & Dickel hit it out of the park. You will be wearing that 100K shirt soon. Wishing you and your family friends, and all watchers of your channel a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year (or Happy Holidays if some celebrate other traditions). P.S. Not saying you should hang onto 3-legged chairs - but there is a market :). Wishing you every good thing in 2025.
The Johnny Mathis Christmas album is a great one! My mom played that too, but the Carpenters was always the first album that would be played when the decorating or cookie baking started. My father loved finding what to him were oddball shows such as Storage Wars and then introducing them to me. I loved the whole storage auction thing, and we loved watching them together. When I saw one of your auction videos in the sidebar I couldn't resist. Now I watch you and Taco Stacks whenever I get a chance. You're both so relaxing to watch. I love watching your videos, please keep them coming. These bring back such fond memories from years ago. My family and I would bid on storage units. but this was before Storage Wars aired. We could go to an auction and there may be 5 bidders would be there sometimes a few more. We were a small group at the time that would bid on units. Once Storage Wars started airing and people started seeing how 'easy' it was to find lots of treasure and make a lot of money our little friendly group of 5 - 10 bidders grew to 150 to 200. My gosh, there were units that should have been a $50 unit going for $1000 or more. There is a lot they don't show that one has to do once you buy a unit, or two or three. You mention it all the time, you have limited time to get everything out of it. Usually a couple of days. Then you have to have a place to sort, store the stuff if need be, you know the drill. lol The largest unit I bought was a 12' or 15' by 30'. When they opened the door it was stacked full, floor to ceiling. There was a little walkway down the middle of it. Amazing. There was a piece of specialized equipment right in the front, I noticed we walked by and I took my son to the side I think we are interested depending on the price. Do to the size, the amount of stuff, people were leery or bidding. We picked it up for $575. I asked my son if he remembered that large gray box up on legs right up front when we did our inspection? That will pay for the unit maybe even a bit more depending on the condition. After a ton of donations selling the prime items on line and we kept a few. Lots of dump runs. We did very well on that one. There was one thing family we always kept in the backs of our minds tho. That this was someone's family's live. Even if it is a trashy one still one did own it. We were very respectful when it is like someone's passed and their life was put into a locker. Or Gramps passed and Gramma down sized. It is where you know it was someone's home that you are going through. Sometimes that would bug me a little. Sorry to ramble. Good luck on all of your treasure-hunting endeavors. Have fun!
