Boerne Champion's Elizabeth Leachman wins girls' 3200M with new regional meet record

Boerne Champion sophomore runner Elizabeth Leachman soared past the competition and to victory in the 3,200-meter run at the UIL Class 5A/6A Region IV track meet Friday at Heroes Stadium.

They run such strange distances in the Metric era. Why 3200 m instead of 3000? The 3200 m distance is just 10 m shy of two miles. In a sensible world, they would run two miles or 3K.

you're like the 1 millionth old head to ask this, if you know this much about running already it's surprising you dont know the answer. it's 8 laps. clean and simple. most high school tracks don't have mile and 2 mile markers on them.

100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 3200m. There's a pattern there somewhere.

I think it's involve a Mile unit, 1 mile = 1.6 k, so 3200 m = 2 miles. But I'm no expert on this, just passing by. 😁👌✌
