    Sorry to hear that it didn't land for you. I saw two previous versions of the show and loved it. Just like to add some perspective: they won the Stage Debut composer or lyricist award for this in 2019. So some other people obviously thought it was award worthy. Here's a clip for this th-cam.com/video/_28qeG6q7wM/w-d-xo.html Edited: I just now saw, that you mentioned the awards in the description already. Ooops ;-)

    Hi guys. I've really enjoyed some of your previous reviews but not this one. At at time when the whole theatre industry is fighting to get back on its feet, this 17 minute attack seemed very tone deaf. There's a whole group of musicians, production people, actors and techies who have very obviously put heart and soul into this production and to say "I thought it was shit" at a time when people's mental health and well-being are so very fragile seemed to me to be entirely inappropriate and unnecessary. It also encourages the worst kind of feeding frenzy (see Kit's comments) from people who haven't even seen the show. I know that not all the review was negative but the rather belligerent negativity of the legger on the right was far too much and rather overwhelmed the comments of the other guy. Come on guys, you are much better than this.

      @Matt Hanson Just to let you know I have deleted my post as you so rightly say it is unfair for me to comment on a production I have not seen.

      The shit comment was off the cuff and said after a long review that backed up why he said it.

      It’s 2022. The entire run of the show is sold out. Trust me - the opinions of these two people are not affecting the livelihoods of the creators of Operation Mincemeat.

    Are you both going to checkout Regents Park production of Carousel? Fascinated to hear your take - I’m not going to say anything, but interested to hear thoughts on it

      I’m seeing that production next week. Can’t wait. I’ve heard it’s very marmite, but I love the cast and the playwright.

      @@matineemikeh9700 yeah! I can totally see why it’s marmite, defo experimental, but it’s a great play, and a fantastic production! I think even if you’re not “entertained” by it it certainly provokes.

    Yeah, I generally at least see your point of view, even if I don't agree with you, but this time, just no.
    It felt you entirely missed the point--that one of you were looking for a drama with finely drawn characters in what was essentially a farce and the other looking for historical accuracy in, again, a satirical farce.
    I fell like you both should have seen the movie because that's what you were looking for: something that told the story of Operation Mincemeat, rather than something that used Operation Mincemeat as an excuse to do largely contemporary social commentary.
    They didn't need to have Ian Fleming saying he based Bond on a girl--they didn't need to make that conscious--precisely because it so PREVALENT in our pop culture discourse: "James Bond CANNOT be played by a WOMAN!" becomes a silly claim if he's based on a woman, and the fact that the possibility never occurred to these misogynists who say such things is precisely the point.
    I saw it last year with a friend and we are booking tickets to see it again in June because we walked out frankly shocked by how good something we picked at random had turned out to be. It's as if someone crossed Top Secret! with a History Channel WWII docudrama and had the whole thing staged by Joel Grey.

    I would like to inform you guys about an upcoming production coming April 2022 that was just announced by Sonia Friedman Productions; MARK FUCKING RYLANCE IN JERUSALEM DIRECTED BY IAN RICKSON❗️ I saw this production at the viewing library in New York City 3 years ago. It started in 2011 in the west end and eventually came over to Broadway. Now he’s reprising his role of a masterpiece. It is hands down the most magnetic/exhilarating/chilling/moving performance by an actor. The Guardian (who never lies, if they say it’s 5 star, then it’s 5 star) said it’s “The Hit That Transformed British Theatre.” I started crying in the middle of the library when I watched it. YOU HAVE TO SEE IT❗️I would love for you guys to review it. Be sure to purchase tickets early if you decide to do so. I was reading old articles, and the tickets sold out immediately for the 2011 production. Much love from Florida! 🎭

    Operation Mincemeat WWII was nothing to do with killing Hitler but it did change the way of the war. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_Who_Never_Was

      @TheBreakALeggers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It started off as a plot to kill Hitler by poisoning water on his train. It DEVELOPED into what Mincemeat became, but it absolutely began as an assassination plot.

    James bond was never based on a woman. The name was the most boring name that Flemming could find. He was an ornithologist.
