Its hella worth it!!! Alternator is easy job. Just change both belts, tensioner pulley, clean it up, change fluids and it’s easy to flip because the VQ30DE is extremely reliable! They go over 200k miles all the time.
I have this car. 21 years old. All electronics still work. Only issues I've had was ac comp and alternator. Engine and transmission are still running like new. Has timing chain instead of belt. Excellent quality car. Would recommend to anyone.
Yesterday I finally found my dream. A 1996 Maxima 44,000 miles. One owner, elderly couple passed away. These Maximas were the best. Looking forward to years of enjoyment.
@michaelplace4754 heck yeah that’s a great idea. So many of these cars in the Midwest bit the dust because of the frame rusting out underneath the motor mounts.. If you get yours treated though you’ll be solid!💪
I love my 1999 Nissan maxima. I installed my own Alternator and yes it was hard to get in but I did, yes a female did it. I have changed my radiator and hose all by myself too. I get a discount at auto parts store so the part are so cheap for me that I just do it my self.
I have my Maxima 98 since 04. 2023 I still have it and I don't think I won't get rid of it.. Has been part of the family now.. Few years mother, few years son, I really take care of it.. That was the best last Nissan/Japan Maxima. After this all Renault/Nissan
@@CleanMusicLover229 I bought a '96 Maxi in October for 1200 with 103k miles and it has no engine lights... so far nothing serious but the squeaky ac belt annoys me and the car kinda jerks a bit while in gear but not giving it gas. I feel like it needs an ignition coil change idk
Managed to buy a 98 maxima gle with all the top trim packages for 5k in january. Sure it was pretty high, but The mileage was only 38k, and it had zero rust, which is extremely rare in PA. I still have my old 97 as well but it's only used as a parts car now, due to the body rotting out. Other than that though, the motor still ran like it was brand new and only had 108k on it
If you ever sell yours I'd LOVE to buy it! I've been going through denial having to part with my 1995 after 14 years with it, all because of the bottom rusting out.😩
I've got a 98' Maxima GXE (base model but with sunroof, has 162k miles). Been trying to sell it for about $800 (to give you an idea), it runs and drives but won't pass smog in NYS because of oxygen sensor, crankshaft position sensor, and a muffler with holes. It's a great car and I've done a lot of small things here and there over the years (biggest stuff was alternator, starter, fuel pump, radiator). It's been a great car, very solid and has been in my family since brand new, but I too am tired of fixing it up! Plus i definitely do not have the tools for this job.
The 99 Nissan Maxima makes about 195 horsepower stock & almost 200lbs feet of torque , it has a vq30de same engine in the Nissan 350z. It goes 0 - 60 in 6.6 seconds, know your cars you'd be suprised whats under the hood.
Jaylynn. Where did you get that information? Cause Nissan also made the Elgrand JDM minivan that used the VQ35DE in the year 2000. The engine was out there at the time. What model of maxima are you talking about? The GLE, SE, GXE?
Jaylynn. Nissan started maxima production in 1981. 20 years (2001) later to mark theyre 20th anniversary they introduced the Nissan Maxima SE with a VQ35DE engine. On the other hand other maximas such as the GLE and GXE got the VQ30DE.
To change alternator and ac compressor is not hard at all. Take the front passenger tire off. Pull the dust cover. Then everything is right there. Pretty easy to me.
I own Nissan Maxima 99 se …I got it with 109k now it has 153k really good cars I drive this car from Southern California all way to Seattle Washington I still came in still running ..17hr drive back in forward….I have change few things but I’m not planning to sell I’m keeping until last drive
Most definitely I would buy it hard to find a black on black Nissan needs a good tune-up change the belts clean up the throttle body change the PCV valve a Infiniti exhaust pipe and it's good to go
For that one? Nope..... At 1st when I saw just needs an alternator, I was all over that for 500. But when you showed the list of body work, interior and AC work? Nope. Maybe for a DIY that just needs a car to drive and throw in an alternator, thats fine. Theres no money in flipping that thing. Good cars, I had a 96 and 99.
@@Belgiannnn I just got me a Avalon xLs 1998 .. this ho run 🏃 smooth , not check engine light .. just got to do my breaks and suspension then that’s it .. 108k

@carloslino4580 you still got it?
I would FOR SURE buy that car. My grandma has a 96 Maxima with only 58k and it's already outlived any car that Nissan has made today.

350Z has a VQ35de it's totally different engine especially the later Versions with the Dual throttle bodies.
Some 2000-01 SE has the VQ35DE marking anniversary, GLE had VQ30DE until 02 when they swapped to VQ35DE.
@@rolandsandoval7486 wrong again, all 2000-01 maximas have the vq30de-k engine. the vq35 didnt show up until 2002 in the maxima

The belt is chirping because the crankshaft pulley is coming apart. They seperate at the rubber ring.

How about the starter
The squealing noise was probably the power steering pulley. I had the same noise on my '96 Maxima
Mine do that when I turn the air on what does that mean ?

$1500. I could hear some knocking. I would use the body. I have a 99 with 80k that is a rust bucket.
