Failed my SPD exam today. Tried really hard not to cry after seeing my result which was close to passing. Getting home and just putting on videos like this helps me settle down.

Aside from the rules he established in the first Yugi vs Kaiba duel, Takahashi really was just throwing stuff at the wall to see what stuck. Battle City onwards was when he really did push to make it feel more like a real game.
I love this crusty game, i was here for your original playthrough so i’m happy you decided to replay it! I recommend you look into the Umi, Revival Jam, and Toad Master Combo with the 1800 attack water tribute monster. Great combo that also weakens the opponents. Haven’t watched the episode yet, so who knows, maybe you already have 😂 appreciate the content over the last 6+ years!!
I'm currently playing the modded version of this game, that makes it bearable. I beat Rebecca 15 minutes in and currently have over 1800 deck capacity before the first millennium item. I praise your commitment, my good man!
Grandpa Muto makes look Mr. Krabs as a charity man. The cheapest card costs 10 (DC 0) and 400 (DC 10) domino. And the most expensive ones (DC 999) costs almost 40K dominos. Also the Password machine costs 1000 domino only to introduce a code to unlock the card, AND STILL YOU HAVE TO BUY IT
50:50 There is a spreadsheet with the drop table. The strategy guide doesn't have the info. I believe it was data-mined. Some information on passcodes was not accurate for some cards (I think less than 20, and they were cards you probably wouldn't use, but still.) so I took the time to update it, but have yet to host it anywhere. If anyone here is interested, reply and if I see the reply I'll go through my old files and get a Google Sheets link going.

Some advice for grinding characters: Ghouls: Fiends and Spellcasters Yugi: Bring Fire and Dream monsters Joey: Bring Wind and Water monsters Mai: Mostly forest, but bring some fire and water (dragon/winged beast) monsters Mako: Monstly electric (thunders), bring some wind for the swamp king Weevil: Fire and Forest (Plant/bugs/beast/beast warriors) monsters Espa roba: Earth and Light (warrior and beast warriors) monsters Bonz: mostly light monsters and some dinos/zombies/rocks Rex: Same as bonz, just replace light with wind
Man, some of that stuff causes some serious solidarity anger. I had this game myself before I gave it away to a friend who collects games like this and I remember getting VERY mad as well. "Broken by a monkey" is probably the best short description to tell someone how absurd this game is.
The day I watched last episode, with Mako, I opened a Legends pack in Master Duel and pulled Fortress Whale and Final Destiny. Funniest pack opening I've had in a long time.
I'm playing Reshef with only the mod that removes the obnoxious permanent effect cursor and its rough. They really expect you to grind your heart out. But for some reason I find it really addicting. If the rewards were better, this might actually be a great game.
There’s an easier way of dealing with enemy traps. Just attack with your weak monsters first instead of the stronger ones. Widespread Ruin and stuff triggers before the actual damage step, so you won’t take any damage.
Also, idk if this would make it more interesting, but having to win like 5 duels each time you lose when trying to progress might be better than continuing to beat your head against a brick wall. Now that I'm done with the video I will await my next hit of Reshef.

Most NPC give you a monster with less than 1000 points atk/def even if you ante a heavy DC card
That patch is great.
Would also suggest trying with a max level code. Still gotta grind for capacity and cards, but you can put in any card you find.
Woooow that was my exact thought process. I was like, there's no way that monkey is Tristan, he sucks at dueling. Then the game mentioned it.
