I was told I had to have a c section last minute dilated at an 8 I cried out of fear of just being “cut” but I kid you not I didn’t feel a thing they give you enough to be numb and it doesn’t take long at all and once I heard my baby cry nothing else mattered to me whoever needs to hear it don’t worry you and your baby will be fine and recovery is very easy just stay strong and take your time walking

    I just had a c section 3 days ago.
I was in labor for about 30 hours having constant contractions and I was only 2 cm dilated. Baby wasn’t in distress, but it just wasn’t working.
Turns out baby was tangled in the cord and wasn’t able to descend properly.
Im really glad that we got a c section and baby is safe. ❤️❤️

Good luck! 77% of private births here in South Africa are elective C-sections so it's obviously not so bad if everyone pretty much wants one

I'm going to have a C-section in a couple of weeks. Just want to let you know this video is the most informative one talking about C-section on TH-cam. This is my first child and I am highly anxious, yet you really helped me relax by sharing everything in detail. This is so insane to say. Look at the vaginal births they are a horror film. C section takes minutes and any pain that’s no where near like pushing out a baby subsides within hours plus ur monitored. No one screams lost c section the way they do at vaginal birth.

I had a c section with my first- it was awful- but I’m convinced a big part of that was because I had incredibly unrealistic expectations of what it was going to be like/feel like. I’ll have my 2nd c section baby in July and I’m so much better prepared. Videos like these are so important!

Why was your C section so awful? The 'bad experiences' give me anxiety...

    • @abby7038
      @abby7038 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@Sasha-zl1xr Really, the only reason my experience was so bad was because I had seen these videos and read these comments from women, saying that their C-sections were so much easier than giving birth vaginally. That might be true for a minority, but it’s not true for the majority- so you have to go in it with the expectation to experience what the majority of women experience. If for some reason, it’s an easy breezy thing for you, Amazing! But at least you’re mentally prepared and your expectations will be reasonable. ❤️ after all, it is major surgery, and it is a significant abdominal incision. When you have realistic expectations (might not be able to get the baby out of the bassinet- stand up and get the baby, change a diaper, etc) in my opinion, it’s very manageable. You might need a little bit more help than someone who gave birth vaginally when you get home from the hospital for the first few days. You’ve had major surgery. Abdominal incisions means that it’s really tough to sit up and stand up so bending over and reaching into a bassinet, etc. those things might be tough for you. My first C-section, I did none of that, my second one by my last day, I could get the baby out of the bassinet. Everyone heals on their own time. Just remember after about a week, you’re going to feel so much better ❤️❤️❤️❤️
One reason we love the halo bassinet is that you could have it right next to you and the bar goes down- great for C-section mamas!!

      @Sasha-zl1xr 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@abby7038 Thank you so much for your thoughtful response and I have heard/read that the recovery process of a C Section is more timely, challenging and at times uncomfortable.
I understand there may be more risks involved post C Section, but honestly I don't think I can bring myself to go through a vaginal birth, I strongly feel that a C section would suit me best, but as you said, every woman is different.
Congratulations on your birth and I hope you continue to have a lovely life with your family ❤️ and you are amazing for going through the process and being a wonderful mother. I don't feel like mother's get enough credit for what they go through at times and it's always interesting to hear other women's experiences.

@@amielabuckley6164 honestly glad I had the c section in the end! I had hoped to push
But the whole process was truly a breeze!
I waited longer for the OR then giving birth lol
I had a spinal (3 needles in your back for numbing)
That was truly the only painful part of it all! And recovery of course
But once the numbing stuff kicks in
You feel nothing for hours after too
I didn't gain feeling in my legs till about 3 hours after birth
The recovery process isn't the worst either
Very sore for about a week after
But I was walking again the same day I gave birth
My heart was Fina as well
We decided to give birth at HOP
Which has CHOP across the street just incase the baby was born with the same condition as me
Thank God she wasn't and so far everything is good with her heart
But I still worry they didn't find my heaty condition till I was 4yrs old
Most children with my condition don't make it after 6months without surgery

I had an emergency c-section as well but my experience was bad cause I needed another surgery 10 days after I gave birth due to internal bleeding. It has been so hard emotionally. The birth was similar to your experience, but the 2nd surgery was nothing like it. I had the catheter over 4 days in plus 3 additional tubes coming out of my lady part, which made me look like a failed experiment. Even though they made me walk the morning after they didn't take that tube out and it drove me crazy when going to the toilet as I needed to pee but couldn't. My scar is simply ugly 19 months later and that made me have another breakdown after seeing my friend's. Hers is almost fully healed 9 months after. It's great to share our experience but please know that every experience is unique and don't expect things to go in the same way. Also the pains I had felt so intense and I would often complain, yet my friend hadn't done so, not even once. She said hers were manageable.

Thank you for making this video. Tomorrow is my scheduled c-section. Since im high risk t1d, I've been the whole pregnancy filled with fear about the consequences and dangers by the Dr and gynos. Some as scary as "you can die on the table!" And Ive done everything to avoid the dangers. Unfortunately, the little one is happy being breeched and refused to flip so Im stuck doing c-section. These last days have been emotional roller coaster fearing the worst but hoping for the best. Your video truly helped ease the tension i had and i thank you for that.

@evm13626 I was so stressed out the night prior, my sugars and BP were everywhere and had diarrhea 😂. The day of, I let them know and the team was super kind and joked with me and they let me know everything they were doing which was very helpful. I got in, they gave my my robe and had me changed. They took me and the husband to the recovery room. Checked my vitals and inserted the iv, put these boots on my legs which they will later pulse to keep blood flow . Hubby was given the scrubs but had him wait til they were ready. We arrived at 8am. Surgery wasn't til 10am. A nurse came in and did a final ultrasound tonmake sure baby was still breech (he was) At 9:30am the anaesthesiologist came in and explained everything we signed some final paperwork and they brought the wheelchair. Hubby was told to scrub up and wait outside. I was wheeled into the operating room (super cold and super intimidating) they had me sit on the table. Gyno came in and played music. A nurse stood in front of me and explained to bend over like a cat over a pillow while she helps me and I would feel a pinch but try not to move. The anaesthesiologist then rubbed something and I was expecting a bee sting but honestly, maybe my pain levels were high, it just tickled and then a second later, I felt a warmth from my stomach go down my legs. They then helped me on the table and strapped my arms. I heard from another video suggest to tap your fingers so you concentrate on that instead of your legs so I desperately tapped my fingers (but honestly I was more scared than anything it's not bad) you can't feel your legs at this point and you can't feel your toes move. Gyno and the team started rubbing this orange stuff and marking the location while the anaesthesiologist explained what he was connecting to my iv. There was two interns in my room which I joked around with cause they seemed more nervous than me. They finally put the curtain up. And Let me tell you, I was balling tears at this point, excited and nervous. I had mucus in my nose while the nurse by me cooed me that everything would be OK and put the hose on my nose for oxygen (they don't insert it, its just , on the surface) omg, the oxygen and my snot made bubbles and tickled my nose and I thought both my hands were strapped down. Found out quick on hand wasn't strapped and I thought someone messed up so when the two dr turned around I quickly scratches dmy nose and hid my hand. They brought the hubby in and then the nurse told me he left one arm loose just in case I needed to scratch so I felt like an idiot. 😅 anyways not even 5 mins the gyno was telling the hubby to take out the phone to take photos and videos. That's when we heard our baby and hubby nervously took photos. I was high risk t1d so they had to check the baby's vitals make sure his sugar didn't drop so they couldn't bring him to me asap but they had the hubby go to him. BTW you don't feel anything except what feels like someone moving your belly around and some slight pressure but no pain. Once the baby was ready they brought him to me. I was with him for a bit and then they had hubby and the baby go to the recovery room. I was in the room another 15 mins and they finished closing me. They brought another bed and pulled me onto it. By this time the tap was slowly going g away, still didn't feel anything but I felt my toes move (felt asleep) we were in the room for 2 hours had nurses checking on me 30 mins make sure I can move my legs. I was allowed 1 visitor at a time or I could've slept. I was so nervous I couldn't sleep so my close family one by one came to see see me.(baby was with nurse regulating his dropped sugar) once the 2hrs was good and I had a room, they rolled me to my room and baby was brought in if say 10 mins later.
HIGHLY RECCOMEND TO BREASTFEED ONCE THE BABY ARRIVES NO MATTER IF THEY SUFFER SUGAR DROPS. IF YOU CANT LATCH, ASK FOR A PUMP IF YOU DIDNT BRING ONE!!!
anyways, you can't eat anything for 24hrs so they give you juices and water. Make sure to raise your legs to get all that excess liquid out of your legs or you'll ve super swollen like me.
BTW you have a catheder so once the pitocin is gone, that's when they remove it. Feels weird being removed. They change you to the hospital undies with the big pad ifyo didnt bring your own. (Go a size bigger if you do buy depends)
After 6hrs a nurse comes in and helps you up. They give you this breathalyzer to test your lungs and they help you up. You slowly walk, (please be careful you will feel drunk and drowzy) everything else is just recovery which i think is worse thsn the surgery itself. You might feel strong to do it yourself, dont. Ask for help, this is your time to recover. 1st night you wont sleep at all. Between checking baby's breathing, feeding baby every 2 hours and just sore, you wont sleep. try to get rest the second day. BTW, gyno will come in and will remove the gauze over the incision. ASK THEN TO BE NICE CAUSE MINES RIPPED THE GAUZE AND I LEFT BRUISES ON THE POOR NURSES ARM FROM THE PAIN AND JUST NOT EXPECTING IT) other than that, its not that bad.

Great video! I found every detail to be very accurate, however, I must add one more thing to the "after" , which is the F.U.P.A.. After complete recovery, and for the rest of your life, if you have even the slightest bit of excess body fat, your stomach will lap over your scar to form what is commonly referred to as a "F.U.P.A". Of course if you are fit as a fiddle, (like the presenter) it will not happen. Her tummy looks phenomenal! Mine? Not so much. Lol.

I know ultrasounds can be off on size but… do we want to find out last minute and have things emergency or just go ahead and schedule the c section? I’m leaning on just scheduling. My mom and her brothers were over 9lbs. I was 9.5lbs and my sister was 10.5. My baby’s belly is already bigger then his head now and they say that makes vaginal alittle more difficult. I think the part I’m the most anxious about is when they pull my baby out and when they push on your stomach during surgery. The pain after when they come to check and push on your stomach after for me was awful both times.

I really enjoyed this video, I'm 15 weeks pregnant and I'm wanting to do a planned cecearian because I have an ileostomy bag... I'm so scared of the spinal pain meds

The epidural isn’t terrible if done by the right person

Welp I was worried about the spinal hurting but then thought it couldn't possibly be as painful as vaginal birth so 2 minutes of a pinch in my spine beats what could be days of agonizing contractions and Drama

@@stephaniedeklerk5754 yes I would say if the person doing the epidural doesn’t get it right in the first try I would request someone else , the guy who did mine tried 3 times before going to someone else and that was what caused the pain, his boss came to do it and I didn’t feel anything when she said she was done 2 minutes later I was so surprised

the thought of a c section terrifies me, i can’t stand a numbing feeling, it send me into a panic mode. i can’t stand the thought of feeling my lungs being numb which happens with c section.

But having an emergency c section is totally different then having elective c section. Emergency is done in 5 mins and elective in nice calm environment takes 45 minutes.
