Answer:- There are two operational command of The Indian Navy...
1. Western Operational Command
2. Eastern Operational Command
3. Southern command ( kochi)
Both command were exercises their control over Bay of Bengal & Arabian sea respectively.

Actual 2nd strike capability will be achieved once S5 submarine gets operational along with K5 missile.
Reason is simple ; Arihant class submarines are lacking firepower & endurance.
All major Navies around the world are using SSBNs with at least 16 SLBMs in each u boat with more than 8000km range & displacement of those SSBNs starts from 12000 Ton.
We have just entered the gate.....

@@JaqenHegar Technically "yes". For Pak, it's more than enough ; but not for China. dimension of modern day warfare has been changed after the innovation of s400 S500 THAAD like air defence systems. A SSBN has to fire multiple missiles so that at least one missile can escape from air defence cover. So, more missile will provide more chances of hitting the target.
Even Ballistic missile's MIRV capability or dynamic maneuvers works only during or after re entry or terminal phase. If a country has a detection system to identify ballistic missile launch from thousands of kilometres away from a sub or from land then missile can be destroyed in the booster phase or in outer atmosphere before the separation of multiple warheads.
For example, US has placed air defence systems in huge numbers around Russia & China. Apart from that dedicated military satellites are also being deployed by US for tracking the path of ICBMs & SLBMs in real time. The whole idea is to kill the missile during initial phase.

Secretly means it was not launched with a ceremony like with our P15B destroyer or frigate. The launch was not public for the program being of atmost strategic significance that gives us the nuclear deterrence capability. So this will keep remaining in secrecy for about two to three decades before we start fielding large number of such subs.
