The rear steering system does not working in any driving mode except sport+. Also the transmission shifts and engine power changes when you are in sport and sport+ modes. Shifts are quicker and in auto mode it will downshift by itself in a corner and hold that gear to accelerate out of the corner. There is a lot of performance features that you can access but you have to program them in. I have one of these cars. I have never seen a reveiwer talk about how you can program the rev indicator and adjust the rpm peak or change the tach needle color. You can set this so that at the rpm that you select the tach gauge face will flash red when it reaches that rpm. If you are a drag racer then you call it a shift light. The fun begins when you go into the settings and customize the car's features to your own taste. For me the best setting is manual shift mode, Sport+ on the drive mode selector, and turn off the trac-control by pushing and holding down the trac-control button for more then 10 sec. Then you will see how this car changes to a different car. If you drive it in eco or standard mode then you are driving a slightly better Camry with 2 doors. But is Sport and Sport+ the car starts to show it's stuff. Sport+ gives you a faster steering ratio if you have the variable ratio package, the rear steering system comes into play, the suspension is at it's max stiffness, and the programing on the engine tune and transmission changes. In closing I would like to say owning this car is a dream because when you go out for the night and just want a smooth lux touring car. It can be that car, and when you are in the mood for some fun it can be quickly changed to that. Owning a sports car you will always have a stiff ride everyday and every situation. What Lexus has done here is given you both and touring lux car and a sports car. 95% of the time we drive it as a daily driver we want comfort and not stiff and harsh. But 5% of that time we can have that sports car. The best of both worlds in one cars. There is more to this car then what most reveiwer can tell you. And you need to explore the setting and program the car to your taste. If you buy one get the f sport package, vari ratio steering, adaptive suspension, rear wheel steering package, and go and read the manual to understand and unlock the hidden features that this car has.
+sheilarb77 Is there info on this customization in the owners manual or a youtube you can point me to? I just purchased this car and so far I love it!!
+Eddie David Yes there is information in the owners manual. Also your Lexus dealer should be able to also help you. Don't be afraid of spending time in your car in your driveway just going through all the menus and seeing what is changeable. In the manual it will show you somethings. Like changing the rev indicator. Move gauge to the side to show the sub menu. Then using the hand side controls on the steering wheel move to setting icon and click the center button. Then scroll down to rev indicator, then click on it. Then scroll through and you will see rev. indicator yes or no. click on yes. Then the next will be changing the needle color, and the next one after that will be rpm setting. You can set it from 2,000 to 7,500 rpm. This will make the gauge flash red when you hit that rpm setting. There are other things to customize, light delay times, door lock functions, etc. It does look hard at first but after playing with the system for a few hours. You will see how to change things. I wish Lexus would make a video on all this stuff and put it on youtube.
John sierra hi john, i don't think that the 200t has the same features. My son has a is200t and his has a boost meter that you can get through the display menu. I am not sure if the rev indicator is on that 200t I know that the tach needle color is changeable on his 200t. I also know that on the rcf model with the v8 engine there is a g force meter in the display menu. I sorry but that's all I can tell you. But as I mentioned in my comments. Don't be afraid to sit down and go through all the menu and settings. I hope you enjoy your car..
+John sierra Hi John some info for you. If you want to gain a bit more out of your 200t. Then check your cars exhaust in the rear. If the pipe going into the mufflers is about 1 1/2" in diameter, Then a bolt on upgrade would be the F Sport exhaust from the RC350 or IS350 exhaust. This will bolt in with bigger pipes and less back pressure. Your turbo engine will boost faster and the trottle response will be sharper and more fun to drive. This exhaust is available on ebay for about $1200.oo. Just though you might want this info.. Take Care and enjoy your RC200T....
I really, really love your style of reviews. You're super thorough and go over pretty much everything about the car (without going crazy). I also love how you go over the engine layout and even going so far as to look at the steering linkage. Great work, man.
victor bozzo theres no difference on the mechanics of it. The only difference is how they work. In the prelude its operated more mechanically compared to sensors on the lexus.
I hadn't watched your reviews before this. I won't have the money for a car like this for a long time but i am impressed with the level of detail and technical knowledge in this review. Much better than a lot of other channels that get way more views!
I work in the auto industry and have driven pretty much every make and model of every manufacturer and I can say lexus has some of the most comfortable and stylish interiors. This creamy color scheme is not the best they have to offer

I've seen a lot of car reviews, and this is the best car review i've ever seen.
This is the first review I've seen of yours - I freaking love your overview of under the hood and drive train. Most reviews are "Sounds great. looks good. pretty comfy. Puts a smile on your face"
It's so frustrating that most of the reviews I saw on this dissed it's performance which was so different that what I experienced actually driving it and might have convinced me not to buy it. Then I went back and looked at the video reviews again and saw that in every case where I could see they weren't in sport + mode and often were just leaving it in automatic. So they weren't using the sport performance settings of the car and then complaining that it isn't sporty enough. I've had mine for almost 4 years and almost always drive it in sport plus and always use the paddle shifters and it is a fantastic car. Yes it is heaver than would be ideal but it is a solid, planted heaviness, especially in my AWD version. Don't trust these reviews bashing it's performance. Drive one yourself in S+ and learn how to really use the paddles right and you will love it.
Great review. Detailed enough to help me understand the more technical details of the car and what I'm really paying for. No gushing about how good looking the car is but a really objective view of this product. I especially appreciated the comparison to the GS 350 which I am also considering. Buying one of these a year old could make a lot of sense since first year depreciation is a killer.
this guy is really good at reviewing. he gets very hands on. this is coming from a British guy who loves/loved Top Gear. i only came here as RC is only just being released in affordable form. RCF has been out for a while in England but its waaay too expensive lol. thanks Engineering Explained
dude your car review maybe the best I have ever watched, you researched about mostly everything about the car that enssencially is neccessary, very infomative and crap-cut and ear-grabbing straight forward, and no personal unrelated opinions like some other youtube car reviews, I find it very useful to watch before buying a car, please do some more of these on newly released how rides, good job well done beef!
Don't mean to jump on the band wagon but I do completely agree with Eduardo M…..Great Job! I really enjoy all your videos and how realistic you are with all the reviews.
+Engineering Explained …I'm thinking about Rc 350 or the 370 Nismo, in your opinion which car is more for the money? I would test drive them myself but I'm currently living in Spain and thought I would ask for your opinion since you tested both.
Love your review. You really elaborate on your analysis and have a good technical knowledge on the various aspects of the car. Much better than some of the fluff piece reviews I have seen/read from other reviewers.
Very nice. Interesting to see Lexus has brought 4ws back recently. Not new for them though, they had the same in their 1991 Toyota Soarer UZZ32. 24 years ago!
I saw one in Lexus dealer when I was going to change my car from ES350 to GS350 F Sport, RC 350 looks sharp and pretty. And some 10 mins later it's gone from showroom. xD
Best RC 350 F-Sport Review ever....Well done. However, IF You really did get 25.9mpg over a 50 mile run at 75/25 Highway/City with going through MT and AT Modes and getting into the throttle as much as you did I am amazed. Seriously... Excellent Fuel Economy... Thank You for a Job Well Done! JP
you really did a great job filming this video and I really liked the first person thing. In my opinion this is the best one man work I've seen. Keep up the good work.
Great review. Would love to see it cornering from the outside though - could do a second run with GoPro on the side of the road and then just splice it into the middle of the footage to look like it was all in one drive. I know that would take a bit more when you don't have a crew, but it would give another perspective of the car in action.
I would choose this car for a daily only. Exterior and interior deserve an 8.5/10 It’s Definitely not meant to race, stock for stock it can’t even beat a sti from roll or dig. If anything it’s probably just as fast as a HR 350z only. If you want fast, your just gonna have to go with the RCF, because that’s in a different league.
I really enjoy your style of review. It is so obvious you know what you are talking about. No florid marketing jargon, and each vehicle is tested on a baseline. Well done. Now, if only you liked motorcycles and reviewed those!! :-)
You're getting some great cars to review! Thanks! Wish the performance and test drive were first, leaving the more fiddly trim and geeky stuff for those who want to hold on until the end :-)
You do a great job.Looking at V6 Accord 2016 2015 V6 Camry Accord looks better then 2015 but priced higher then the Camry . Camry looks good but the Accord looks sharper .
+Boss Arch Personally I went with the Accord. Nothing wrong with the Camry. Camry does have a smoother downshift while on the Accord you will definitely notice it. Eventually you'll get the hang of the downshift on the Accord and learn to predict it. I just noticed you said you were thinking about the 2016 Accord, if I were you I would stick with 2015. There isn't any major power train change. Though you might want to wait for the 2017 accord =] If the Spirior concept goes through it should be rather interesting.
MihRonoh I picked out the Camry the price was better .I was going to just get a 4 but really thought he 4 2016 Accord was boring the Camry had it beat but drove both v6 Camry Accord , I was able to swing a better deal with the Camry very happy. WHITE , ONE . TNX.
So surprising that even the rwd version compared to awd GS is still the same speed and not much difference in weight. At least come out with couple F-sport manuals for the enthusiast out there. This car had so much potential. Love the design and interior, but needs a manual (or at least appropriate paddle shifting, where it doesn't toggle through gears and is slow to shift. It's hard to sacrifice the room you have in the GS for the look of this RC. Great review!
Acura has a much better interior room than any other of the lexus. I think the interior of the RC 350F needs to be redesigned and needs to be a little bit longer in dimensions. That's just my suggestion.
Perfect review, thanks. I test drove it today and felt exactly how you described. It accelerates much too slowly for me, so I need to find a lighter car. If I'm going to pay 50k for a car, it should be fast, not sluggish the way the RC feels. Then again, I've been driving a stick for 15 years, so I'm still trying to get used to an auto; so far, I'm not impressed.
@@thermalkid9383 I ended up getting a Mazda 3, so not a fast car, but a lot cheaper and I prefer the interior. RC 350 just felt overpriced for what you get, but if you love coupes, there aren't many options. You could try a Toyota Supra or Subaru BRZ
Graphics designers weren't thinking when they made the in dash compass because it's the Infinity logo! A competitors emblem in their dash cluster hahaha

That interior is gorgeous. Lexus makes the most luxurious and reliable cars.
It's hideous and the interior looks like it fell out of a 1980's parts bin.
Lol the hate
way better than the shitty german competitors
I'm not gonna lie, german cars look way better but, after owning one for a while lexus reliability is very tempting.
