Quoted: "The JVP has been accused of being anti-Tamil and anti-Muslim..." - absolutely wrong! They have never been accused of such things. The JVP has always strongly advocated for minority rights. In fact, it was the two main political establishments that consistently used ethnic divisions for their own advantage. Polarization was deliberately created, especially leading up to elections, in order to secure votes. Sri Lanka was reborn on the 22nd of September, 2024!

AKD has committed to a neutral foreign policy, working closely with all international parties without leaning to the right or left. Importantly, he has never been anti-Tamil or anti-Muslim, which could help foster unity and stronger diplomatic ties. This balanced approach could be one of the best developments for Sri Lanka and its relationship with India!
This is the last hope for Sri Lanka. The biggest concern is that whether the opposition parties are willing to let him rule. All the politicians except a hand full are corrupted to the core. This man's main vision is to put an end to corruption which does not sit well with the majority of the Parliament. Unfortunately there are around 60% of the population still worship those corrupted politicians because either they are very narrow minded or because they get other benefits from those politicians.
If the people support (people living in the country and abroad), this man has the vision to change the future of the nation for better.

@aruljeevagaspar if you compare the numbers of the Indian and Sri Lankan vessels we wouldn't have any fish left...so it's completely unfair for us. Why can't you just fish on your own side? Your country owns a large amount of sea. Isn't that even enough for you?
Isn't it unfair for Indian fishermen to come and catch fish in Sri Lanka's territorial waters? When India has a large sea border that is separate to itself, it is not the people of that country who are inconvenienced by going to another country to catch fish there. Tamil people also live in large numbers in districts like Jaffna, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, where fishermen from India come and catch fish. So their livelihood is damaged by this. When we live in two neighboring countries as brothers, we should get used to respecting each other's boundaries.
