would be nice if there was a rule next year limiting (or even banning) the use of ai art in demos. feels like it kinda gets rid of the purpose of them as... ynow, demonstrations of skill? i dont see how typing a prompt, then right clicking counts as a demonstration of artistic ability...
Attack of the Ego Bots is actually a bit of a bummer. It looks incredible, but it’s just not even vaguely in the spirit. Maybe make AI stuff its own category?? It’s not a patch on Jesus on Es
Another superb level this year. The Attack of the Ego Bots by ZMS is really nice, as is the Paint by MELON. The Deep Meet by DARKAGE hit me right in the face, just like in the good old days. 🤩

Those that used AI in art are just garbage, Demos done by people express themself artistically, musically and excellence combining this with code and knowledge. Throw your brain out and use AI and still add your name in it it feels you failed yourself and went where the fence is the lowest of low. People don't deserve name artist if you just type in to get picture, sorry.
Okay but isn't the spirit of the scene to explore the limits of soft- and hardware AND being creative? AI is a tool. Creating something like a comic with AI is still a challenge.

Then there already is a lot of things with computers and partly automate the work. If it’s bad art. Yes then it’s not good. Still there is plenty of bad/ copied/ unoriginal art made without and AI. And yes I find most of the AI art bad. And that I shit. Then I also seen some good art produced with help of AI (whatever AI means. There been plenty of AI driven features in image production since many years ago) and I as an artist is more than happy with that. As usually those images had good art direction and some original concepts in it.
Our work The Colour Out of Space perhaps went unnoticed by you, earlier in the demoscene it was appreciated when the limits of a machine were pushed, and you were able to see the first mandelbulb by raymarching in real time on the Amiga, it's a shame that you are not able to appreciate those fine details.

The music flows so smoothly on many of these that it's hard to imagine a computer is making the sound.

I don't mind AI art in some contexts, but I agree that a demo is not the place.
Last year revision had more restrictions if I recall… this year there was a bunch of evidently ai generated assets all around
