Thanks for the video - I just purchased a new Kubota and couldn’t figure out why I was getting such an uneven cut on hills and bumps. This video helped a lot. Can’t wait to adjust my cutter tomorrow - thanks again.
I run a chain on the top linkage. Perhaps you should have talked about that aspect for people who don’t have that undulating mechanism on their slasher like you have.
I had always learned to keep the mower tilted up slightly with the rear tilted towards the tractor and the front about 2 inches or so above the ground. I had also learned that this is way too low for the mower to run properly and eject cut material out the back. I do cut some pretty rough field grass with gopher mounds and other uneven dirt mounds and the like, so I would imagine I would lift the mower up a few inches for that, but this could really be a game changer for me on my cutter. I also was not setting my top link correctly for the sway of the mower to work properly from what you are saying here. I had mine quite a bit tighter, but that was also to help it lift higher for moving around, so I guess I will have to adjust it as I go a bit. Thanks again!!
Nice video. Something have done that my dad used to do is use a chain for top link. I've also completely left the top link off and just let the wheel ride on the ground. I use a 6' Bush Hog cutter for my rougher stuff. If I want to cut the grass you seem to be talking about I'd use my 84" Rhino finish mower. Also, nice tractor I've got one just like it. It replaced my old 6600 Ford.
I’ll have to look into it. Wyoming has been in a drought for years so there hasn’t been much to cut. I actually did the most mowing with my old John Deere 1025r and a 48”…. Took FOREVER!
@@CarolinaEarthWerx It's been quite a few years since I worked in Wyoming. I worked outside of Lyman and also south of Cheyenne at the AB plant in Colorado
I'm new to learning how to run my tractor. I've been reading the book and watching lots of videos. Thank you for your video. I'm trying to learn all the PTO adjustments for my brush cutter. I have a Kubota l3130 and a land pride brush cutter But for some reason I can't raise the entire mower off the ground more than maybe a foot. I had hoped to be able to raise it up higher while I was traveling or to raise it up high and then be able to bring it back into brush and then drop it on the brush to mow it. How do I raise the brush cutter up when I'm in the seat, to maybe A couple feet in the air? Next question, is it dangerous to be operating the brush cutter doing the cutting when I lift it high up in the air like that? That is if I can ever get it higher up in the air. It's blackberry, Vines and things like that Third question, is it dangerous to mow while driving the tractor backward? I was thinking some of this brush. I'd rather run over with the mower than with the front of my tractor.
Did you get your questions figured out? I have been having some of the same problems. I found if i shorten tje too limk up i can raise the back of the rotory cutter up a couple feet in the air. You don’t want it too tight or it won’t have much up and down travel following the ground contours. If your ground is flat it won’t matter much. My owners manual says to to set the top link so the top pins are anove the bottom pins. I don’t think it’s correct because i almost took all the travel out where it is supposed to flex to follow the ground so i stopped short a little bit of getting the pins on too of each other. I think those directions were for a finish mower but got printed in the instructions fir my rotory cutter. Goid luck trying your settings.
@@roytreace7058 hi! I really haven't. I've just been looking for similar set ups like I have, to be sure I have it all adjusted correctly. Most of the tractors like mine I find online have the quick link set up which I do not have. I did just go ahead and attempt to mow flatland just the way it was and I think I've been doing pretty good with it. If the ground starts to get too bumpy I just raise the mower up. I keep watching behind me as I'm mowing and every time I go up and down little hills or over big bumps, The back wheel gets up in the air. I just feel like everything I've been reading sounds like the rotary cutter should just ride up and down easily over bumps and little hills. I don't seem to have it adjusted so that it does that. I have had several people tell me they take off the top link and just use a chain. I just really do not want to bust my shear pin again. I read that the top link attachment should be very flexible. So I adjusted it in several different settings and then I got off and took pictures of it each time just to see if I was doing it correctly. Hopefully I'm going to find someone here locally at some point who has a similar tractor I can pay to come over and show me some things. I have the owner's manual and everything. It's just very hard to figure it all out in real life LOL.

Glad it helped! Best of luck with your new machine!
Thank you! Other guys turned it into an 18 minute video of their entire day. 😂🤣
This is great! Thank you. Just what I was looking for.
Thank you quick and simple

Thanks for the info! I could have gotten away with a finish mower but I do some projects that require the brush hog so I went with that
@@CarolinaEarthWerx I did the same thing for years. I have 6' Bush Hog cutter. I finally broke down and bought a used 84" finish mower.

Nice! We live in Laramie now, great place!
Thank you this has been running me crazy finally got it set right
Thanks! This was just the info I needed.
Thanks for the quick tips!
No problem glad it was useful to you!
Extremely helpful/thorough. Thank you.

Excellent information. Thank you.
So do you set the top link about halfway through the travel to allow max flex up and down?
Thanks for the video...Have to use a higher cut because the brush is out of control ;-(
I hear that! If you want to see a crazy machine for small trees and brush, check out my recent video on our new ASV forestry mulching machine!
nice video. Love that tractor!
Thank you!!
I noticed in the tractor you connected it to the top link . In other videos I have heard them say to put it on the bottom? What’s your thoughts ?😊
How much pressure should be on the tail wheel? I can’t get mind to track properly, it wants to stay skewed sideways. Any advise?
I'd say your top link is too short. Lengthen it and more weight will be on the tailwheel.
I want the telescoping arms. I hate the turnbuckles
Thanks!
Thanx!
Thank you for watching!
What is the correct tool to use to adjust side linkage to the three point arm? Instead of talking why not show me?
Angry! Maybe next time.
