Beautiful! If everyone took heed and planted native milkweed and discontinued their use of pesticides (insecticides, herbicides, any "cide,") at home, we could potentially save the monarch butterfly and the declining native bee species.

@@adsrotufssoho5803 nah dude i planted 30 native milkweeds in my backyard as a school ffa project on my own lol it's fun and amazing to see what little lives you can save and when before i graduated from high school, i'd spot my own butterfies i released in the large parking lot and would flip out haha! monarchs have saved me from suicide as i planned to one day take my life in my senior year of high school but i can't do that if all of these little guys depend on me to live
Does anyone know this "variation" of Common Milkweed because all the Common Milkweeds I've seen don't have the elongated hoods(the part where the nectar is stored; is usually kind of box like and short). The ones in this field have long, kind of wavy hoods, not the typical short, stubby ones. Thanks. Awesome video by the way:)
May I ask, where is this meadow inside Yosemite National Park? I would love to visit this spot captured in the milkweed and monarch video when I visit.

whats wrong with learning and saving monarchs??? i literally just graduated from high school and i got 30 of these plants in my backyard and a ton of seeds lol these little guys are so sweet and i always would see them stop by my school as a thank you after i released them
❤ I learned this morning that the monarch has decreased by 85% in the past 2 decades due to Americas agricultural activity smh Even tho I live on the outskirts of Baltimore, i should still see bees. I have although my life and I've only lived outside of md for less than 5yrs total. In the last decade, I could count on 1 hand how many bees I've seen. The last one was on my car door and i took a pic of it. Where'd they all go? Smh shameful💔 A friend is gonna mail me some milkweed seeds to plant in October. Hopefully that'll help some. It's sad witnessing this sorta thing happen. Makes me angry too
unfortunately some GMOs absolutely wreck native milkweed. a lot of native milkweed may be hardy but some other plants can easily take them over and kill them off. they are only called weeds because of the places they can grow in, but aren't actually that invasive at all and tend to do better around the same exact kind of milkweed rather then others because they compete for the soil

As a kid I remember seeing them all over, now I don't see many of them. I guess I now look at the milkweed in a different light.

Pesticides aren’t even needed for agriculture anyway. Healthy plants aren’t susceptible to pests or disease. Look up Advancing Eco Agriculture.
