    IMPORTANT.
    I've seen a repair on another van (Peugeot Boxer) for a seemingly unrelated fault.
    .
    The vehicle was going into limp mode.
    3(?) mechanics couldn't fix it.
    .
    Turns out the DPF (soot) sensor in the exhaust was clogged.
    Reason?
    The system periodically burns off the soot, but it needs an outside temperature reference to start the process.
    .
    No sensor in the driver side mirror, no DPF burn, fault codes and limp mode at speed!
    So
    If ever you replace the driver side unit, it MUST have the second loom and a visible sensor!
    .
    It's possible to strip and swap the old sensor (IF there's one fitted in the old mirror!)

    Thank you so much for this. Some idiot, flew past me last weekend on a small road from Helston to Redruth. I had no way of getting out of his way due to a large cornish hedge to my left. Leaving next week to tour around France and Spain. Just fitted the new mirror. Went like a dream after watching your video. So thank you so much, Andy.

      Thats great to hear, and I'm glad I've been able to help. We've just got back from Spain, where and idiot on the wrong side of the road hit my passenger wing mirror, so just ordered a replacement!

    I had no idea the temperature sensor was there! I only got to this video whilst searching for a fix - My van said it was 38 degrees when it was barely 15, so I may have the same job to do! Great work!

    Hi.
    Just wanted to say thanks very much for this very useful video.
    We had a broken wing mirror on our boxer school minibus. Garage quoted hundreds of pounds to replace but £60 off eBay and iv just replaced it in minutes. The piece of string trick probably saved me hours and scuffed fingers so THANK YOU!👍👏👏👏👏

    Thank you, very useful Andy, been hearing horror stories about the cost of doing this job, seems straightforward enough. We've got the Remis blinds on our motorhome. Is there an easy way to remove it far enough to access the bolts behind to remove the broken mirror?

    I am not scared now of replacing my mirrors, thank you. Is it just as easy to connect the wiring for the type of mirror that folds in?

      Yes, but you will not have the extra connection for the Ambient Air Sensor.

    How do you take inside panel off ?

    • @HelenAndyTravel
      @HelenAndyTravel  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you are talking about the electric windows panel, I popped it out using a flat bladed screwdriver

    Hi, at the start of the video you can see the 5 oil lights on in the dashboard display. Ours is currently showing three out of five lights. I've been told I don't need to worry or keep topping up until I get a low oil light though. Is that correct?

    • @HelenAndyTravel
      @HelenAndyTravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      The dashboard display is notoriously bad at giving the correct oil level, and the advice you've been given is dangerously incorrect. Please manually check you oil level and top up as required or you risk destroying your engine
