    Picked this up for 400 USD near mint and I couldn’t be happier. Only had 400 to spend on a dj controller and between the flx4/400/sb3/Inpulse 500 this gave me 4 channels and large good feeling jogwheels. I have been a bedroom dj for a decade I don’t see myself spending 1200 when i can spend another 600-800 for an xdj. So for that price range and the fact it now works with Rekordbox, Serrato, VDJ, Algo Djay, and Traktor makes it worth the money if you can find a good condition unit used.

    Hey great review Phil, but I have to disagree with you when you say that the controller is not for Serato. When you said that I almost didn't buy it, thank God I did. I own two audio-technica's lp1240 And1 S9. I was looking for something that had the same feeling but for mobile DJs. I used to own a ns72 but that thing was just too clunky to be carrying around. So I sold it last year. But the DDJ flx six is actually perfect and light and has great jog wheels and has some really amazing features. Now as far as as the software side it works great with Serato you just have to have a knowledge of the way cerato operates and once you power it up and use it for about a week or so you will start to get used to it. Everything that's on the ns72 and all the other controllers for Serato is there but you just have to get used to the layout

  • @allanmurray4156
    @allanmurray4156 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    as someone who moved up from the ddj 400, ive got to say, give this controller a miss folks, as good as having 4 channels, and the bigger jog wheels are, the price of this unit is only £69 less than what i paid for my DDJ 800 new, it also lacks balanced inputs and outputs which makes the audio vulnerable to ac hum, which i had issues with on my previous ddj 400, once i moved up to the ddj 800, AC hum was eliminated. Even as a hobbiest, i would totally avoid this controller folks, for a little extra the DDJ 800 is a much smarter choice, and if you really need the 4 channels, the DDJ 1000 if you want to remain in the Pioneer ecosystem.

    I would prefer the 800 because of the information on the jogs (I don't bother about the CDJ jogs), and it has lots of audio inputs. But that doesn't mean that the FLX6 is a bad controller. I think many DJs will rely on the info on the jogwheels especially if they have used the 800/1000

    Hi Phil, lets cut to the chase. Within the next hour or so i’ll be purchasing this DDJ-FLX6. I’m coming from Technics 1210s & Pioneer S9 (Serato User). The FLX6 is not a substitute for my current gear, only something for on the go as I keep getting invited to do guest mixes on radio and abroad, where space is limited and need something compact like the FLX6 to travel with. I do loads of scratching and what drew me to this controller were the Jog wheel size and price, i can do everything else manually coming from a turntable background.
    I’ve seen videos of people doing some really great scratch techniques on this (manually) using serato.
    Are you saying this controller is strictly not for serato, if so can you provide more clarity than what’s in the video. All i need to be assured is whether my cue points and effects will still work even if the lables are wrong, so I don’t have to go changing stuff back when i reconnect to my S9. Also what’s the quality of the crossfader? I know it’s not going to be SRT or S9 quality but is it still cool for routines?
    Please reply promptly if you can. Thanks again.

    • @digitaldjtips
      @digitaldjtips  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It works just fine with Serato and Rekordbox, there's no reason it'll mess your cues up it's just a midi controller. We haven't done any extensive scratching on it, I doubt you'll love the crossfader but you'll be able to make it work as a backup.

    • @tunefitune135
      @tunefitune135 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Digital DJ Tips ok since owning the FLX-6 all i had to do is update my serato to the latest version and everything worked as it should. Only downside is the volume is very low, i would consider using an external sound card or jacking it into an external mixer.
      As for the effects pads it’s not rocket science to work out which effects go where. Jog wheel is good, crossfader is scratch-able.

    For me, the mixer section has four channels, completely pointless, if you can't connect anything from the outside, such as turntables.
    And I thought that Pioneer did something right for a really reasonable price, but in this variant it's nothing special. You just have four audio files active in serato, you can do it from separate channels, and on two channels you just have to switch. That's all the difference.
