Missed last nights showing. Had concerns about an urgent 'oldman's thing' and on advice went to 'accident and emergency.' 10 hours later I saw a doctor. Can't cope without UK health service, but don't ever believe it's perfect claimed by many over the pond! Being free at point of service comes with drawbacks.
Nice to hear this but you need to hear, if you haven't already to "Gold Teeth II" to see what I think they really wanted to do with the composition musically.
This one has aged so well. Rock with jazz flourishes...lovely, yet dirty too...like the protagonist in the lyrics. Denny Dias has most of the guitar solos, Donald Fagan tasty on the keys. The song is even better with more listens(you notice some subtleties you don't catch on the first listen).Got my Dan fix in for the day, thanks RIP Walter Becker
One of the few songs where you get to hear Fagen go absolutely nuts on the keys. I love his keyboard playing and it got overshadowed by bringing in studio guys like David Paich, Michael Omartian and Paul Griffin, who are all incredible of course. Fagen actually takes more solos than people realize. Of course Do it Again, Hey 19, and Home at Last have prominent Fagen key solos but there are a bunch of good ones, Fire in the Hole has an amazing piano solo, IGY, and the absolute unhinged synth solo on Lunch with Gina. Great guitar solo by Dias on this one and I like that in Your Gold Teeth 2 they also have Dias do the solo. Another interesting thing is this is one of the few songs where you can actually pick out Walter Becker singing background vocals on “dumb luck my friend won’t suck me in this time”
@ part II is from a different album. I think they only share a lyrical connection. But part II is an especially good SD song, with a nice jazzy intro and a beautiful melody.
A groovily frantic musical journey of this "memorable" woman... Thanks for watching! 🥰
Steely Dan never missed. Classy top notch music. Gorgeous.
I saw them in concert last year...absolute perfection. A must see.
Incredible song that introduced a new generation to Cathy Berberian.
Precision, groove, funk, melody, cryptic lyrics, all this and more on all Steely Dan tracks.
OMG!! Your thumbnail! YES!! 💙💙🎵🎶🎶
My pearly golds! 🤣🤣🤣
Always a good listen when it's Steely Dan! Excellent musicians and song writers! 👌👌
Quite true! Have a good morning or afternoon or night hehe... 🥇
@@retroreactions.... Haven't even had lunch yet! 😄

Hey bud. So sorry to hear you're having an issue. I hope things resolve asap 🙏
I’ve not heard this one in awhile. No matter…it’s always that great Steely Dan vibe!

Yacht Rock 🤣🤣🤣We can laugh about that.
Love it!
Please tell me that you are also going to listen to “Your Gold Teeth II’?
Sometimes I think “Countdown to Ecstasy” is my favorite SD album.
Absolutely Mark! Are they truly tied together as one piece? Meaning would you suggest I do part 2 on their next turn?

Great to know! I do plan to cover their entire 1970-1999 catalog here, once a month....🙂
This is giving Santana vibes.
Interesting...only know a few of his songs. Happy Saturday!!
Happy Saturday !😃
Not too familiar with this track, but that’s exactly what I thought; before you said a word I thought “that was frantic!”
Great musical minds think alike! Good night...😴
