someone tell me why if chi-sao refers to the hands, are also used in this video kicks, if in addition to hands "stuck" could be (or is useful) use kicks, it would be called in a different way.
No doubt it enriches your academic understanding of the art, but I wouldn't say it is instrumental to your success in mastering it. Would you say a boxer or a wrestler needs a profound understanding of Western culture? Which aspect of Chinese culture did you have in mind? Art? Literature? History? Surely all the time you spend studying these things could be used in perfecting your Wing Chun instead.
