I read these books when i was about 10 years old. I have to say that for a book that gets so much hate, it helped me get through bullying in school when i was young, since Nikki (the main character) was getting bullied at school too. This is for all of the parents: every book, movie, video, internet site, they all have their flaws. I believe that its not worth it to make your kid back away from reading. Not a lot of kids read these days and that is a big problem. If i hadnt picked up that book at 10 years old i wouldnt be reading books now at 17. The reason that book one was changed was because it was "too mature" for its audience. It was also editted many times throught the years, like every other popular book.
