I have been flying into the same island for many years but we always fly into Treasure cay and clear customs there, it is on the same island just a little farther west and the fees are cheaper and the service is fast as very little traffic and there is no airline service there. Also a beautiful place to stay with the Wife and child, you would love it. We always stay at the marina hotel and not too expensive.... Great video..... Smitty

Different then your others, I like it.... I can't wait to get my PPL and beyond. I finally started my ground school and will fly with Chris at Dare to Dream, but not until after we purchase a home in Loxahatchee and get settled in...
@@NikosWings Sorry, I review the video again, at about 5:15 I see how I was confusing the window with a door not completely closed. Camera gives a weird view of both doors and windows...
Niko, another nice video. Don't mean to be nit-picking, but, your copilot's reference to "we have the barometer," (He was referring to the Alt. setting) is actually incorrect. As an "old" (I mean old, :) Avionics/Instrument person, the "Altimeter Setting" is local Barometric Pressure (Barometer) "corrected" to present sea level pressure). Due to your location, the Baro and Alt. Setting would be fairly much the same - but not exactly. Sorry for being picky. Also, your Intro Music is absolutely outstanding - really sets the mood. I'm learning a lot from you. Thanks, N-6395T
@@NikosWings "Back in the day," in Germany, we (my unit) would send a plane each month to Moscow. I would install two Metric Altimeters, one for the Radio Operator and one for the Navigator. Hi - approach plates / charts describe how to fly an instrument procedure, like an ILS approach, into an airport. In the US, they are electronically freely available from the FAA. For the Bahamas, getting these requires a purchase, usually from a chart company called Jeppesen.
It is a procedure that uses very sensitive instruments on the ground and on the aircraft in order to safely help the pilot to get to the runway within 200 feet above ground and with in some cases 1/2 mile of visibility or less. They are extremely helpful especially when an autopilot can fly them automatically because it is an extremely safe way to bring an airplane as close as possible to a visible part of the airport aligned perfectly with the runway for a safe landing. Here is a wiki article en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrument_landing_system and here is one of my videos flying an ILS into Chicago. This one was pretty close to minimum visibility and cloud coverage: th-cam.com/video/qDlgDC35YYI/w-d-xo.html and this one th-cam.com/video/SKGXbS1Hq8M/w-d-xo.html
Flying the islands is expensive compared to the USA and airport and customs fees are the same for us Bahamian pilots as for visitors. Fuel ranges $7-8/gallon. South of The Bahamas (E.g. Jamaica, TCI, DR) you are hit with handling fees on top of everything else. And down there is no US Coast Guard and few cruise ships to help you out if you have to ditch. Its Better in The Bahamas :)
@@NikosWings Completely understandable. Honestly, I'm a bit surprised I got a response this late after the video was posted. Thank you sir, and fly on!
Cap'n Crunch I don’t remember exactly since this trip was in Feb 2017 but in Freeport had to pay about $50 each, in Marsh Harbor that or more and on the way back at Nassau about the same to exit the Bahamas. Next time I won’t add an attendee airport like Marsh Harbor unless I stayed there.
I noticed you called it an "EPIRB" instead of an PLB or ELT.. You must have some nautical experience. I feel ya. EPIRB rolls of the tongue better...lol
I guess technically, an EPIRP is a large floating one with ballast so it stays upright used on boats. Then there is an Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) used on aircraft that sense a large g-force (crash) and go off automatically. And then there is the small lightweight type that you can carry called a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB). But they all do exactly the same thing. I used to sail on cargo ships, so I almost always call all of them EPIRBs...lol

Thanks for all the ideas you've given me for a painting... Love all the ocean teals and blues! God bless you and your family Niko.

Fantastic views, thx for sharing, great Niko👍🏼
Such a relaxing video, thank you for taking us flying with you. I always look forward to your videos. Another one well done!
Well done, GA flying abroad is a great way to learn more, expand our comfort zone and discover more of the world around us.
Great call by your copilot regarding the littel noise, Some people would just let the feeling go, how he spoke up, great teamwork.
Thanks, Heath is very trusted!
Please consider taking more videos of your adventures outside the cockpit...enjoyed it!
Very nice video. Probably one of the most beautifully GA video. 🎥🎬
Niko's Wings: that was beautiful! Best to date.
Beautiful scenery
This truly exemplifies GA... Wow.

BEAUTIFUL place! Wish I was there now. Was 24°F up here in MA this morning. :(
Amazing Landing, was very Smooth 👍🏾
Herman Figueroa 06 landing was textbook I thought. I heard the stall warner seconds before touchdown.
Great Video as normal Niko, can you advise as to what the inplay music is please?
I believe on this I used some TH-cam royalty free music
Loving it, thanks for posting
I'd love to fly with you when i visit Florida at the end of this month!
I may not be here but let me know
That was a cool video. I want to do that kind of a trip!

Awesome Niko! It's a "1000$'s hamburger" but you're right: one life!...
@Niko, I love the livery on your plane!
You guys fly like professionals…good work!
Nice trip Nick,,gotta plan to stay three days at least
3 days hell, fly in stay a week then fly back
When I was a kid there use to be a show called SKY KING This is better :)
I like it when you take us with you on your trips but this time you only Showed us the flight what happened in Freeport?
Customs and stuff... boring
Jealous - getting a one day break here of a balmy +12C today. It is better in the Bahamas.
GOOD TEAM WORK GUYS!!!!!
When we planning the trip to the Bahamas!?
That was fun!
The waters in the caribbean are sure beautiful. I assume your friend is a pilot what type of aircraft does he fly.
Michael Stern he flies Cessna primarily
When you left Freeport it looked like the rear door was not closed, I saw some daylight. Seems to be a repeat issue on the Cirrus in your videos.
I’m not sure what you were looking at Donald. I don’t see that and I never had any issues like that

Nice runway.
Another solid video although I believe some would argue, chute aside you should probably be wearing your life vests while flying.
In2flying you are probably right but the freedom... like riding a motorcycle without a helmet...
Hey Niko, great video. Just curious, how come you didn't go straight to Marsh Harbor as it is an AOE for the Bahamas?
I see someone else asked same question so got it. Thought maybe fuel might have been the reason. Thanks!

Really cool! One question - where did you get approach plates for Freeport? Did you have to get a Jepp trip kit?
James Rankin yes
James I'm not a pilot . What is a Jepp trip kit and what are approach plates for Freeport please ? Thank You !

Another great video Niko! What were the "large" fees that you incurred in Freeport and Marsh Island?
David de Pingre At least $50/each person at each of the airports. Of course Farmers Cay was free

25:00 what a cool runway
Was a flight plan a requirement to go to Marsh Harbour? Or could you have flown without it! Thanks
Yes
what the autonomy of the battery of the cirrus? I see sometimes you pick your clearance with the engine off so I Guess that sucks on the battery .
Marco Brando as long as the volts stay at or above 24 you are good. I only run it for up to 5 minutes and that is rare if ever
just love how nothing seems to faze you
I realize this video is nearly a year old, but did you have much chop near those cumulus pop ups?
There’s always some chop but to be honest can’t remember, my memory was shaken off of me, lol...

Sweet...! You mentioned fees are they huge ones cost wise ? Also how long did it take to fly total ?
Stephen Lee the fees add up but are not excessive, about $50 per person. Flew for several hours that day. Probably 5-6 total.
Niko does your plane have retractable landing gear ?
Is your friend Heath a licensed private pilot also ?
Oh I forgot to tell you I received the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award back in Dec. Was quit and honor....

Well congratulations Sir. When I turn 88 and am still able to fly and have a good record I may be honored like you... respect!!!!
Why did you not fly direct to Marsh Harbour and clear customs there?
Brian McKinley were exploring, now we know!
I know you have a life raft and other items but Why did Keith not have a life vest on?
Shawn Gordon much easier for a passenger to put it on than the pilot
Thanks Niko. Nice Video.
