For me personally the process of playing modular synths have always been visually reminiscent of running a nuclear reactor - looks awesome, but also gives me really spooky associations. It adds a lot to the blood chilling atmosphere you have created. Totally RAD performance!
Thanks for listening! I'm really happy with the QPAS filter. I think with your nice headphones you can really hear all the harmonic detail that is brought out. Thanks again for the nice comment! :)
Love listening to this and a lot of similar stuff, like Kelly Bailey's ambient work, or Joel Nielsen. Wish there was more stuff out there like this where you explore the creation of it. Would love some theory even about what kinds of sounds and characteristics work best.
Thanks so much for checking it out! I’m actually working on another “Dark Atmospheric” Type video this week so keep an eye out for that...Should be live in the next day or two. :)
Hey, Thanks for watching! I have an album up on Spotify actually :). It's not quite the same "Dark Ambient" vibe but I'd love for you to have a listen! here's the link: open.spotify.com/album/0qNDbXBjPAemz9JULDZ5GY
@@Koboto Well, consider me impressed! So I saved your album to my collection and started following you over at Spotify too 😊 I know the grind to get people to listen on Spotify (it's one of the most difficult things as an artist these days), and you really do deserve a LOT more traction than you're currently getting there 😊
I am also super super inspired by Ms. Gudnadottir of late!! Thanks for the patch! I'd love to experiment with creating some stereo/panning effects with a drone like this - I'm hoping to add an MN X-Pan to my system to do just that!
Hey! Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I just saw that she won the Oscar this year as well. Much deserved. I did also love the score for Uncut Gems this year. I don’t think it deserved to win necessarily but definitely deserved a nom. If you love synths, its definitely worth checking out. I also just released a video with my thoughts on that. I made the BG music with the JD-XA, in the style of Uncut Gems (To the best of my ability). Have a look if you have time. :). Thanks again for checking out my channel!
@@Koboto That would be sweet. I'm a Logic and Slate user, so predominately Alchemy and ANA. But, at the end of the day, whatever VST you're familiar with would be awesome!
Hildur Guðnadóttir used field recordings made by Chris Watson during their trip to Chernobyl....I believe Chris did some of the sound design for the score...
Yeah, I saw that as well...I heard her say that she recorded the sound of an old door at the abandoned power plant for hours and used the sounds extensively in the score. Such amazing work. If she doesn’t win the Oscar for Joker this year, it’s total bullshit. Thanks for taking the time to watch my video!
I think in a video she mentions she recorded some sounds from the Ignalina NPP in Lithuania. Regardless, this fit very closely with the series' musical aesthetic.

Haha. Yeah, I can see the similarities. Thanks so much for the positive feedback!
This definately shines with good headphones. These sounds are my jam, its just so fun to create atmospheres.
I come back here about once a month and it never ceases to amaze me. It's mesmerizing
Wow. Thanks so much for the inspiring and encouraging comment! New videos coming soon. Thanks so much for the support!!!
Great work, and great explanation. I’d love to see more breakdowns of dark ambient techniques.
Thanks. Sure, I’ll try to make another one soon!
Listening to this on my mixing headphones and getting chills... great work !

absolutely amazing
Very close and really rich sounding deep dark ambient. Excellent work.

Great stuff. Make me wanna run out and get a Eurorack.
It's a slippery slope, my friend...haha. Thanks for watching!
Excellent, really!
Many thanks!
Are you planning on releasing this to Spotify?? Because I'd love to listen to this a lot more! 😁

@@Koboto I'm giving it a listen right now 😁 and you really have talent for dark ambient, so I'd consider releasing that too if I were you 😊

Thanks for checking it out...more videos soon!
how about making a tutorial on modular synth in dark ambient style? I would have looked
Sure...I can def put that on the list for future videos. Thanks so much for the suggestion! I'll try to let you know the I make that video.
@@Koboto Thanks, dark ambient there is very little information in the global network
Would like to see this as well, not many tutorials about making this kind of sounds.
I’d be up for this. Dark Ambient is why I got into modular.
MMM Dark Stew! So well described, Sounds are Deep And Dark 100 Watts Through the JBL'S sOUNDS gREAT lOVE THE iNDUSTRIAL dRONE. cHEERS
Dang, that's good! :)
Thanks for checking it out!
This is fantastic, thank you! Would you consider making a tutorial to achieve a similar result using softsynths? Cheers
Possibly. What VST synths are you working with?

sounds amazing. so i’m assuming there’s no clock or sequencer running in this track? just maths providing the movement of tones?
This is the music to listen to when reading Roadside Picnic by Arkady Strugatsky.
I don’t know that one. I’ll have a look. Thanks for watching!!

Still looking for a tutorial for stuff like this :D
Super fun stuff to play on modular! Thanks for watching.
very gooodddddddddddddddddddddd
Thanks for watching. :-)

And it's more scary now...
Dark sounds for dark times. Hopefully things will get better soon. Thanks for watching.
