More London Cats. James Davies in Jan '93. My apologies to Mr. Davies for taking so long to update the description here and give him much deserved credit...bravo!
@EmRas27 Sorry but this is not Guy-Paul (myself) as Misto. This is the very talented James Davies who was second understudy in 1991/92. About Cats Paris. I only played Alonzo 4 times and then got cast as Misto as the 1st cast (Tibor Kovats) had to leave because of a bad injury. What a pleasure to see James dance as I never got a chance to when he was on (1st cast were not allowed to watch understudies)
This Mistoffelees is completely amazing. When he jumps into the conjuring turn he's just fantastic. It's the best part imo. But I'm really stuck on this Rum Tum Tugger! Is it Christopher Howard? This Tugger is so funny and energetic; I've never seen anyone skip on stage! He's such a laugh, and so adorable. I think he's my favorite Tugger. Found a video with more or less this same choreography from '91, but I think this performance was better.
After the conjuring turn he stumbled and I don't know WHY but I found it so cute! He did something so impressive I can't even care that he fumbled at the end
OMG 3:05 onwards! I've been looking for ages to find a video of this song where Mr. Mistoffelees actually did his "conjuring turn", and this is the only one I could find. IT'S AMAZING!
yep, it was. this was unique to the London production and first two UK tour productions....;) later - i suppose in 1996 - they removed this bit even in London....;)
2 changes I would have made as Music director 0:43 ditched the drumroll as although London was the first production, the drumroll wasn't necessary since Broadway didn't use it and 5:18 had the orchestra play a Cb chord since that was in the Broadway production.
@skimbles1 you're abso right. scott wise was in cats for years, and became the toast of broadway in the 90's esp when he was in guys and dolls and damn yankees. i don't know why i sometimes confuse him with timothy scott, um, yes i do, it's because they share the name scott..no excuse and i'm sorry t.s. and s.w. for the mistake....thanks!
Great dance! A bit unusual to see a replay from the person that actually plays him. And about fitness I speak with the us marines "No matter what they do in the rest off theyre lives they knows that they once was fit enough to be a Marine." In youre case swap Marine for Mistoffeles^^ What production did you say this was? Johan.
Yeah, it was a small part of the national anthem they used. The Paris production also used their national anthem for the Gumbie cat Tap-off but I don't know about any other productions who did :P
Something I noticed is that whenever the second verse is after the dance break, there's a drum roll when Mistoffelees descends, which I haven't seen happen in a performance where the second verse is before the break. I personally prefer the dance break after the second verse. It feels more deserving in my opinion: We learn more about him, then we see what we hear about him.
The way it's done on this video is how it was originally conceived though. They put the dance after the second verse when it came to Broadway as it was easier for Misto to not sing a verse after he did that cruelling dance break. The drum roll was still in the show for the first previews on Broadway and was then taken out because they thought the American audiences were not patient enough.
The three cats that are in this clip are Rum Tum Tugger: Christopher Howard, Old Deuteronomy: Donald Franke and Mr. Mistoffelees: Guy-Paul Ruolt/de st Germain.
Hey! Could you post ALL of Macavity (including fight) and the intro to Mr. Misto (this starts part way through), and the rest of Act 2 PLEASE!!! I can give you links to download Cats London 1992!
Wayne Sleep is from the London cast of Cats. Timothy Scott is from the Broadway cast of Cats. This cat is from Paris, France Cats he was Alonzo now he is Mistoffelees. The cat who is playing in this clip his name is Guy-Paul Ruolt-De St Germain. Here's the answer.

I know your comment is 14 years old but congrats on being part of an amazing show.

James also understudied RTT!
I love what he does with his head when he finishes the turn! LOVE CATS!

I counted 28 turns in a row - no wonder he was a bit dizzy!
1:07 PYROTECHNICS YEESSSSSS!!!!!! The performance I saw in Singapore 2019 had party poppers and I’m not exaggerating... Literal party poppers...
The Singapore one was a tour so they had to be cheap 😂 Apparently in the 90s/2000s Singapore had a local production that used the legit set
This cast is having so much fun 😭 i love the energy they have
I loved the entrance of misto
All the scenario obscure and only the LED of misto was an amazing add in the performance
I love how all the cats go into the audience that's cool.

This honestly the best Misto I've ever saw
Wonderful job. That was one of the best Rum Tum Tugger's I have ever seen.
I wish i could dance that well :( amazing job though, truly blew me away!
James Davis I wish I could have seen.you perform live.

I love his fouettes en tournant! :)

nope that is just the Full song of Mr Mistoffelees, there is no specific composition just for London! :)
You are right. Wayne Sleep was orig, and Scott Wise on B'Way, but this was shot many, many years after him...
2:53 3:03 I don't remember that bit of music being used in any production i've seen. was it unique to the London production?
I'm sure they used Bomba for the dissappearing act instead of Cassie. very good, saw this guy when Cats went on tour!
Very proud of my uncle !!!

Timothy scott was the original on broadway.
i thought so. kinda like how the Original Amsterdam preoduction had unique music for the Gumie Cat Tap-off
Who plays Tugger here?
It doesn't matter you are still awsome!
His torso my not be a big as it looks. The thing he is wearing (vest) is sort of hanging off of him.
great job!
TUGSTOFFELEES
Is intense in this one
awesome is this live?

Do you have Memory? Thanks.
6:55 LOL what's even going on with the cat behind tugger
How about rum tum tugger?
