  • Playing through a Fulltone Ranger OC75 treble booster pedal using an LsL Instruments Saticoy & Gibson '67 Flying V reissue. The amp I used is a JTM45 style combo made by Retro-King Amps in New York. Audio is captured by a Royer R-101 ribbon microphone.

    I love you more than you'll ever know for putting a quality demo video up for this new pedal. I blindly bought this pedal (arrives this Monday) hoping it would live up to the Fulltone name and Dallas Rangemaster hype. Thanks for putting this together.

      Thanks for watching, I appreciate the love too. It really does it's best work when it's in front of an amp that's on the edge or overdriving already.

    Hey Wayne
    Thanks for the Video!
    😎🎸
    Fat clockwise and pure bright counter clockwise.
    With Military hardware!
    To date this may be the best peddle ever made.
    I gotta bust my piggy bank
    cuz now I want one.
    😁👍

      Thanks for watching and commenting David, go to their website quickly I think the OC75 versions are limited.

    If this had been available when I was looking for a treble booster I probably would have bought it. I like the tight setting. I ended up buying a skreddy hybrid fuzz driver which can do a very similar thing, plus being able to dial in silicon transistor drive in the mids makes it a wonderful pedal.
    I think pedals like this ranger are where fulltone is at their most special. I have the octa fuzz which gets the Octavia tone perfectly.

      Totally agree with your assessment of the Fulltone folks ... this is my 2and treble booster but thankfully the other is so different I'll probably keep it too. Thanks for watching

    That's the way to demo buddy! I couldn't go whole hog and get the OC75, but I did pony up for the stock one! Great sounding and simple to use on stage!

      I've heard the difference between the stock & this one are almost undetectable so it ain't too much of a big deal. I appreciate ya watching Hal

    OC75 #522 here. Freakin' love it. The only proper use of NOS Mullard OC75's in my not so humble opinion. If anyone finds them, give 'em to Mike Fuller.

    Which one will provide way huger thicker tone with a Fender Strat? I am talking about this one or the Fulltone Fatboost? My favorite tones are the Hendrix Stevie Ray type tones.. not like a modern gain type deal.. Just super huge like Hendrix and Stevie Ray.. Which pedal will be better for that?

    • @WayneMemphisMojo
      @WayneMemphisMojo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've not tried the fat boost ... this one really covers a lot of ground but for the most part it does best at boosting the upper frequencies of an amp on the edge of breaking up.

    Lot of variations which I like. Only thing I have tried and current own is the OCD GE which I like quiet a bit. Keep getting Michaels marketing emails and I have contemplated buying it many times, but that MSRP eeeeeekkkkkk.

    • @WayneMemphisMojo
      @WayneMemphisMojo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get plenty of Fulltone emails as well ... this is actually only the 2nd true treble boost pedal I have (the EQD bows being the other) & I like this one better. They only sound good into an amp which is already breaking up. Thanks for watching man

    I've never been a treble boost user though a lot of players I admire have used them. Way too many choices here for my liking Wayne

      Seems like more & more pedal builders are doing the "multi in one" thing ... it's less noticeable in the video but each setting kind of makes a different vowel sound to my ears. I think I liked the "Mids" setting best. Thanks for watching Paul.

    • @montag4516
      @montag4516 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the multiple switch settings makes that Ranger vastly more valuable. Could be the sweet catalyst that bonds certain guitars and amps that wouldn't have paired so well without it.
      And the middle most switch positions here sound particularly complementary in the shown examples. Good choice.

      @@montag4516 thanks for watching and commenting, I too appreciate having options which can be tailored for the guitar/amp

    Gotta question. How does this pedal work with a wah? Is the wah more vocal or pronounced?

    • @WayneMemphisMojo
      @WayneMemphisMojo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not tried this pedal with a wah yet. I typically have my wah as the 1st effect pedal which probably would change the sound of this treble boost. You've got me curious about it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
