Another winning video. Thanks for the introduction to Manchester and its Lancashire Hotpot. It had my mouth watering. Thanks also for the tour of the John Rylands library which was an experience in itself. These excursions of yours are both educational and entertaining. A great combo indeed.
My mother used to make the hotpot with mutton - much cheaper than lamb and more suited for prudent northern pockets. Lamb was relatively expensive and too extravagant for serving in a stew. A very enjoyable video of Manchester; well filmed and narrated.
Glad you found a decent Lancashire Hotpot , not really surprising you found one in Manchester as a lot of outlying towns were originally Lancashire towns pre 1974 before boundaries were reshuffled and these towns reluctantly joined Greater Manchester , to this day I consider myself a Lancastrian and find it offensive anyone should consider myself a Mancunian as I never go near the place. Great vlog as always 👍
My Mum made a killer Lancashire hotpot & you just cannot have it without pickled red cabbage. That looked absolutely delicious 😋 love that someone from Corrie opened up that place & called it Annie’s after the original landlady at the Rovers. Glad you were able to get on the next train no bother. Another great vlog ☺️
Hello my friend, lovely to see you, lovely venue to enjoy this well presented Hotpot which looked amazing & guess it tasted good, loved the side vegetables too! The library was beautiful, I love the Gothic Style. Cancelled train!! No it's not acceptable, I agree with you that we should take example from other countries where the service is excellent. You had a lovely day for filming, it was lovely coming along with you excellent video as always take care 💜💜XX
That hot pot looked smashing! Not keen on pickled cabbage though. You are right about the trains, ours are shameful. That’s privatisation for you. Glad you are better, take care.😊
Your reports are fascinating. Your train experiences with delays and/or cancellations are typical these days. I really enjoy your reviews, which include your travel experiences, using trains or National Express coaches. Good work, keep doing it!
That hotpot looked so delicious🥘😋 and that library was magnificent.🙂📚 As for the trains, yes I agree, they should study the countries that get it right. It happened to me recently and I had to wait another hour for the next one. Sat in the station pub, some stations don't have pubs though so I was lucky there I suppose. At least you had an empty train on your journey out.🙂
Nice one, ! Annie’s certainly looks good, I will try that, if I ever go to Manchester! Xx Yes , late and Cancelled Trains are Bad, I’ve had quite a few lately Where I come from in Cambridge.
Hello, that pot look delicious, potato and lamb works very tell together here in Italy too 😋!! Food for the next video? Personally i would like to see something classic.... But I don't know what... 🤔.... See you next!! 🙂😉
I just knew your search for a true Lancashire Hot pot would end up having a Coronation Street connection. Could the restaurant be named after the original (when the show started) Landlady of the Rovers - Annie Walker? Fizz (The restaurant's owner - Jennie McAlpine) never met her but tales of her are often retold in various episodes. I am on the west coast of Canada and I've never been to the UK. However, each Sunday I watch the omnibus of the week's episodes (usually a month behind) on our National TV station and I am transported to Weatherfield. Through your channel I have a similar experience with many locations in Great Britain. Thanx
Wow, I am so impressed with Manchester, clean and loved the pumkins on the trees, Annies looked so nice and the hot pot looked delicious, the train journey wasnt a bad price either, Have you done pie n mash yet?
For a great Manchester Tart, you need to go to Bury Market, voted the best outdoor market in the UK. So when next in Manchester, jump on a tram from Victoria to Bury! You won't be disappointed. Great video, by the way!
Hi from Warm Los Angeles! 🙋♀️ Unlike your city, we're in another heatwave here. That hot pot looked like just what you need after being ill. Thank goodness, the train situation worked out in the end. But, you can still put my vote in the "Unacceptable" category. As a frequent tourist in the UK, I've had my share of delays and cancellations. Not fun!
Yes it looked very tasty and the thick gravy and meat looked amazing a bit expensive though but worth it.Yes i do think the train reliability and service has been lacking for as long as i can remember. I visit Japan quite often and as you say they are reliable! Still a good day out and Libary looked nice too.
This is an artisan version of the working man's hotpot of yesteryear. Hotpot was a regular dish served for school dinner and it was a watery version with no thickening in the gravy. The dish was made to get the taste of lamb/mutton into a whole variety of cheap vegetables and gravy. There was never much meat, usually just a couple of small lamb cutlets which in a working man's family the children never got to eat. Just like beef roasts and Yorkshire pudding, and the suet spotted dick served with gravy. I have to admit, it did look good. Was the pickled red cabbage warmed though or served cold? Thanks for taking us along on your food journeys, even if the trains are rubbish. The train ticket price was very reasonable.
A successful adventure. A cracking hot pot and a bit of culture at the library. Pity our crumbling train infrastructure spoilt your trip back to Leeds. The Swiss train service is on a totally different level, clean and efficient. Unfortunately, since privatisation our rolling stock and tracks haven't been given the financial support they need to operate properly.
Back in my Uni days, in the early 2000s my friend and I would go out on a friday night in Manchester looking for tarts, sometimes with success, other times we ended up with dogs! 🐕
You can often find a pastry version of Lancashire hot pot too, with a puff pastry lid instead of potatoes. The legendary bakery chain Galloways in Wigan sells them.
I always have trouble scanning the code in Manchester Victoria. I tried Annie's one Saturday but was told you had to prebook then. It looked busy but I felt it was more because I was in t shirt and jeans. You need to try out Leeds more and save your train fair.
Dont say that to the employees? Wages pensions share options etc are massively better than public ownership. Train drivers on 50k a year is impressive.
I'll tell you why we don't have efficient railways in the UK...we'd/Governments would rather spend our money on £7m-a-day illegals bills, and foreign aid to the tune of £15bn...then claim we have a 'huge economic black hole'! That meal looked nice...restaurant owned by Jennie McAlpine (Coronotion Street's "Fiz"). Sorry to hear you were unwell and I'm glad you're feeling better ;o)
The restaurant looked very swish, and a great place to eat, right near the Theatre. Your meal looked delicious too. Glad you're feeling better. 👍🥰 I completely agree it's unacceptable about the Train Service, but it's the same as everything in this godforsaken country, we're at the mercy of corrupt politicians who have sold us and our essential services down the river to the highest bidder. Instead of being seen as a vital Transport Network the public need to run a country efficiently, they waste billions abroad. A disgrace. But who do we vote for? They're all the same! 😢
I can only comment from my point of view as a commuter in to London every day of the week, my particular service has been been top notch for the last 5 years or so (hope that comment doesn't jinx it for me now!). It does seem, however, that services outside of the greater London area suffer a stupidly high number of delays and cancellations. If less than 90% of the scheduled services aren't running on time then the operator is doing something wrong and should probably be replaced.
If you think the trains are bad now you should see how bad they were when they were nationalised. Comparing an over populated little country like England with 57 million people to Switzerland with 8 million is a bit daft.
It's decades of under investment in railway infrastructure that causes "rubbish railways". HS2 was a glimmer of hope for investment, but is now cancelled. Also, looking like transpennine upgrade will now be scaled back.
We're off to Bolton next week, i wonder if we can buy one, but i dont want to pay 15 quid. I'll stick to spoons, these expensive places bring out the yorkshire war cry of ow much!!!!
What food should I search for next?
Comment below 😀
I've just got back from Glasgow, I'll message you later on Instagram a few suggestions.
How about afternoon tea in Bettys, Harrogate?
Ristorante Sergio in Chester is Superb quality 💯🙏
A Wigan kebab if you haven't already done it
How about Staffordshire oatcakes they're delicious with all sorts of savoury fillings
The world needs Lancashire Hotpot.
It does!
Another winning video. Thanks for the introduction to Manchester and its Lancashire Hotpot. It had my mouth watering. Thanks also for the tour of the John Rylands library which was an experience in itself. These excursions of yours are both educational and entertaining. A great combo indeed.

It was delicious!

Hooray! Finally dined at Annie's. Great video. Bury Market next for famous Manchester Tart. Only 10mins away on tram from Victoria Station.

Great vlog as always 👍
That looked delicious thanks for another great and enjoyable video mate keep them coming 🎉🎉
It was all going so well with the ticket barriers until the train was cancelled! Thanks for another great video. Good to see you back 😊
I appreciate your relentlessness in finding local food.
The gravy in the hotpot looked amazing 😍
The gravy was amazing!
The Lancashire Hotpot looked fantastic. I really enjoyed seeing the gorgeous library.
The library is great!
Good old fashioned English food ❤❤

You are amazing, Just seen last night some scenes from SEVILLE. TAPAS TAPAS TAPAS. Get there soon.
This looks like the best meal you have had in ages!
It was a great meal
i thought it was a tad expensive until i saw how much lamb was in it.. obviously made with love by the chef

Aww that cute girl at the beginning who dropped her water canister. What an intro!
Good video again thank you 👍
Looked yummy

You sound breathless, are you sure you are completely recovered ? Nice to see you back.

Loved this, the hot pot looked delicious and thanks for a look in my old student library ❤😂
What a cozy place! Thanks again for a great vid!

Good to see a very successful trip.
That deep rich gravy looks banging
It was so tasty! 😋
Our trains are awful, at least your phone let you through on the second try! And that hotpot looked fantastic, as a Manc I might have to visit there!
It worth a visit for sure
Nice grub and an eduction thank you😃👍

I totally agree!
Hello 👋 EIE
Delicious. What a superb looking hotpot. The veg looked succulent, too. Did you eat it ? I'm glad you also enjoyed the history😊😊
I ate it all 😋
Hot pot with crusty bread and butter and a big cup of Yorkshire tea 👍
It’s called Annie’s after Annie Walker the original landlady of The Rovers return , the pub in coronation street!

Its worth a try for sure

Looks like a delicious hotpot. Greetings from New Zealand ❤
Hello 👋
I'm pleased that you enjoyed your 'no longer elusive' Lancashire Hotpot although I don't eat lamb and I prefer a nice white plate to a tin one!
It looked amazing and the veg looked very nice. Your tea looked a bit weak. Did you stir the teapot ?
Back in my Uni days, in the early 2000s my friend and I would go out on a friday night in Manchester looking for tarts, sometimes with success, other times we ended up with dogs! 🐕
I went to Annie's with my family a few years ago. We travelled up from London. Really lovely food.
Its a nice place
I was in Preston two weeks ago at a place you went to and there was a hot pot on sale. They've obviously listened to you. 😮
You can often find a pastry version of Lancashire hot pot too, with a puff pastry lid instead of potatoes. The legendary bakery chain Galloways in Wigan sells them.
If i imagine it as beef, it looks perfectly acceptable. Myummy☺️ I cant do lamb😝😂 what a lovely day! Thanks!❤🎉
The library was amazing!
Great vlog but the big question is - did the girl (30 seconds in) manage to catch her train!
Haha good question!
Thankyou. What about stew and dumplings.you can have veggie dumplings or ordinary.
Just a heads-up that might get good views.
The McRib is returning to the UK on 16 October after nearly 10 years.
Perhaps one for the diary.
That music did my head in
I always have trouble scanning the code in Manchester Victoria.

We need to renationalise all public services.
Absolutely yes, it was appalling that they were ever sold in the first place!
Dont say that to the employees? Wages pensions share options etc are massively better than public ownership. Train drivers on 50k a year is impressive.
@@stevewilson6390 do you think train drivers in charge of 100 to 300 people passenger should be on minimum wage?
@@Evus-st5di
Did i say that. NO! i didn't so stop making up your own stories.
@@stevewilson6390 I asked a question?
0:27 hahahaha
I was in Burnley Market Hall yesterday and they had those elusive home made Manchester Tarts.
I need to visit!
Just read delays on trains Northern are caused by staff shortages .
I was actually thinking your train leaving Leeds was cancelled as that was showing on the board when you were waiting for your train
Biting social commentary on the state of British railways. I think we need more opinions on things you see day to day.
Looks nice 👍. ( £15.75 ) 😮
Best food in the world. Manchester and Liverpool left Lancashire but it's still there spiritual home.
Suet jam rolls polly.take care
Bees country Kitchen in Chorley do a good Lancashire hotpot.
I'll tell you why we don't have efficient railways in the UK...we'd/Governments would rather spend our money on £7m-a-day illegals bills, and foreign aid to the tune of £15bn...then claim we have a 'huge economic black hole'! Sounds like US all goes to.illegal
Thanks
Trains need to be renationalised and run by just one company

Used a train recently from London to MK, first one was cancelled, second they used only 4 cabins to stuff hundreds of people on 😮 🥵
I found two Manchester tarts in Todmorden and a small village near Lancaster. 😅
And it is in Yorkshire!
If you think the trains are bad now you should see how bad they were when they were nationalised. Comparing an over populated little country like England with 57 million people to Switzerland with 8 million is a bit daft.

£16 wtf . Manchester looks nice❤
Guessing the difference between publicly owned and privately
We're off to Bolton next week, i wonder if we can buy one, but i dont want to pay 15 quid. I'll stick to spoons, these expensive places bring out the yorkshire war cry of ow much!!!!
Trains delayed and cancelled and yet the workers demand more money. Absolute scumbags!
The tea looked a bit weak
I'm just making some homemade mushroom soup just my own idea.
The train system needs taken out of private ownership and nationalised.
Think because the British invented the trains they think they can get away with them being late all the time 😅
How are you
It's quicker by bus
Why don't you use a spoon 😂😂
