Agreeing with everyone else that it should come bundled with needles! My doctor didn't know that it didn't (he'd assumed "pens" included the needles) so I had to wait for his office to get my message about it and call in the needles. As expensive as this medicine is, there's no good reason not to "throw in" the needles!
Thank you for this helpful video. My roommate and I couldn't understand the illustrated, printed instructions for the pen. All we had to do was watch until you got to the needle. That's when we realized the unwise people at Rite Aid should have asked my roommate if he already had a supply of needles. They sent him away with no needles. And this is the first time he's had to use an injected drug. So he didn't think of it, and he trusted them. Now he has to catch a bus back there and chew them out. Rite Aid, if you're reading this, please get better.

More interesting is that my roommate got His A1C number way down, and the Daily Planet (indigent care for over 40 years) said he could stop injecting. He doesn't have a home blood glucose monitor, so the next time he went in to be checked, his A1C was way up, again. I've looked into glucose monitors, and Consumer Reports says there's one, only about $20, the FreeStyle Freedom Lite, rated at 93%, best overall. But I'm finding it difficult to find the ongoing cost of supplies. I'm warry of the razor-and-blades marketing, or rather the printer-and-ink, where they really sting the consumer with the supply costs. I'm really surprised that Medicaid doesn't supply the glucose monitor and supplies, given the great savings with preventive care.

Thank you for this! One point of confusion. You say to “stop” when it gets to zero but keep holding the button down. Do you keep holding the button for 6 seconds?
I'm writing the virtually the same comments I left on another site/video for self-injecting. The first dose, for the uninitiated is a nervous affair, at best. The instructions illustrated on the box are misleading. Your video cleared up the confusion I had when I looked at the Quick Guide on the box. It needs to be re-done. Turning to the Flow Check Symbol ( .. _) is a very small turn. I saw a very small dose/bubble and assumed it was primed, it was not and I wasted a week to administer the second (really the first dose). Never having given myself an injection, I thought the tine pin mark I saw was a success, and, of course it wasn't. Even the well intention-ed arrow, as drawn, could be construed as turning either clockwise or counter clockwise. Removing the needle after the dose was not clear, it did not indicate the large outer cover was the only one to simply pull it off (I tried to piggy-back the inner cover and the out cover, and it wasn't working ... I even stuck myself). For a first time, nervous user, like myself, the instructions failed. Come on Novo Norodisk, you have the current medication Golden Goose, spend some money on technical writing, and illustration. A fail.
Hi Jen I did my injection of Victoza I put my used pen next to my unused pen. Do I prime it again just to make sure it is ready for use for my next dose.
Do I press the button on the bottom, til it says 0, and liquid comes out, only for the first time I'm using the needle? Or every time? I understand making the flow symbol appear is only for first time, but you didn't say whether pressing the bottom til it says 0 is for first time only or not? Very very helpful otherwise! Thanks.

It works the same as an insulin prescription. You change the needle each time, so needles are packed separately.

Same thing just happened to me at Walmart. Since I didn't have a prescription for the needles I couldn't use my insurance for any discounts...

Please remember that when you get told to up your dose, you can up it by going one click more past your curent dose per day, every day. Gradually.

Does this has many side effects
Mine does not have dosage marks. It starts at 0 and goes straight to 6. No numbers or markings in between.
.6 is the smallest dose then 1.2, then 1.8.
It has 3 amounts. Hope this helps.
