- Is Aberfeldy 21 worth the money? Is it worth 3 times the price as Aberfeldy 12? In this review I complete a comparison of quality and cost. I hope you enjoy.
What is the best Scotch whisky? What is the best value whiskey? There are a lot of reviews out there that accurately review whisky on a like for like bias which is an excellent resource. But for us mere mortals it really means nothing as the whisky price can range anywhere for $10 - $100000.
So what I have on offer here is a review that rates the whisky both on the like for like with a score out of 100 and a Was It Worth It Score rated out of 10 related to the overall quality of the whisky, The cost, The Availability and collectors value.
Anything above 5 is thumbs up and I would buy again and anything below 5 is a Thumbs down would be unlikely to purchase again.
WAS IT WORTH IT SCORING
10 = There will always be one on the shelf and more on hand
9 = There will always be one on the shelf
8 = Daily Drinker rarely not on the shelf
7 = Solid Dram purchase more then once a year
6 = Will buy again probably needs a reason
5 = Undecided need convincing
4 = Something slightly was off, price or quality
3 = Something was off, price or quality
2 = There is a BIG mismatch of price verse quality
1 = No need for discussion
Was It Worth It Whisky Reviews not is a review for the normal person that just likes a good whisky at a fair price. No technical bullshit. No Affiliations. No Ulterior Motivation.
We all deserve the best whisky and there is plenty to choose from.

there is in fact not a single ppm (phenol part per million) in any Aberfeldy, I have absolutely no clue how you get to that conclusion on 6 ppm!? Highland Park new Make is around 3ppm & Bowmore is around 6-9ppm. There is no peated malt used for Aberfeldy. What you might detect is a slight aroma from the recharred casks used at Aberfeldy in combination with Ex-Bourbon, Refill & Sherry Oloroso Casks. Cheers.
Yeah same idea in my head for the values , one day they might change their presentation to encourage us whisky nerd types .
Or just reduce their price on the older age statements....
Do you reckon the tasting pack would be worth it though? Might be a way to try some decent drams without shelling out so much.
I probably would not recommend the tasting pack itself now I have tried it...

I don’t agree with you about 12 y.o. It’s too weak …
They are all at 40ABV the 12,18 and 21 and chilled filtered, so if you want something with more punch you need to look at others. I would have liked to try these at a higher ABV.
