The only artist I know who gives meaning to each word, each phrase. Her interpretation is wonderful and unique. Most mezzos and sopranos make this a vocal display and nothing else.

she sung and sings on a level so high, that it defies all criticism.
her coloratura are not my absolute favorite either, but it is undeniable that she is a highly proficient, expressive, skilled and sophisticated singer.
there are very, very few mezzos who can compete with her. the only better comparable singer that i can think of is marilyn horne.

She made this aria almost unrecognizable, with her shivering, shaking sound on every note. I don't know if this is called vibrato or not but I find it to be annoying and unattractive. This aria should be sung by a soprano with all of the soaring high notes that make it exciting. She did not make it so by gesturing and making the melodramatic movements and faces. Just my opinion.
