- Cortège et Litanie by Marcel Dupré performed by Ben Bloor in the live final of the 2021 Canadian International Organ Competition on the 2014 Casavant Pierre-Biéque organ in the Maison Symphonique de Montréal on Friday 22nd October 2021.
Marcel Dupré was as well-known for his virtuosic organ performances as his vast output of compositions. Amongst all his complex music and fraught chromatic language, his Cortège et Litanie, written in 1922, sets itself apart as being far more aurally accessible. The chorale-like melody of the Cortège, and the insistent ostinato of the Litanie both combine at the climax of the piece, to create an extremely satisfying journey of darkness to light.

Ben, this is glorious performance - thank you! May you be richly blessed in all your heavenly music-making.
Haunting first movement with _Cloches_ on the _Grand Choeur_ (?) Building up to an electrifying finale. Spectacular performance (and choice of registration) Ben. Great connection with the musical score (and surely the composer's intent), the organ and audience (judges 🥈at competition _and YT_ ). Rooting for a *2024 appearance* ... 😉
1ère fois que j'écoute avec plaisir et intérêt une pièce de Marcel Dupré.
Merci Ben !
God when that first melody comes back in at the climax is probably one of my absolute favourite musical moments, amazing playing :)
Beautiful piece and very well played!
Awesome: bravo, Ben!❤
Lovely performance with the cloches stop. The organ at Maison symphonique de Montréal, inaugurated on May 28, 2014, Casavant’s Opus 3,900 consists of 109 registers, 83 stops, 116 ranks and 6,489 pipes.
Wonderful!!!
Let's go. Let's fucking go . Awesome
Playing in an international competition in sock feet?
Is that a thing now?🤷🏼♂️
Yes, I seriously want to know.
It is if you play in socks.
