I was teaching my husband when we were engaged about the four C’s of buying a diamond. We were at the jewelers and I selected a beautiful diamond and he was impressing the sales person by going over the four C’s but he said actually there are five C’s. Cut, color ,clarity, carat weight, and cardiac arrest when you see the price. We all laughed so hard because it’s true.
Thank you for the help, i ended up getting my girl a princess cut 2.5 carat G diamond and I compared it to the D, the way you showed us to compare it in the video, there was barely a difference and i got it for such a good price. You’re a life saver 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I am happy to hear our video helped. Agreed, there is a very slight color difference between G and D. Most of our client's love color G diamonds (plus the $avings!) Congratulations!
Some great suggestions here to help people deciding how to make the best choice for the budget they have and which compromise(s) will ensure the best result. Should look nice, especially because on a pendant, people don’t get that close. Thanks for the tip. 👏

Thank you for your useful suggestions! I was looking to buy 2 carat diamond, but i dont really like yellow color, even a bit of yellow would make me feel like my diamond is not brilliant. so i choose lab-grown diamond with D color and Ideal cut, the brilliance makes me crazy, I am so in love with that and almost wear it everyday!
I'm having a ring made bespoke for me. I've managed to get a G colour, VVS1, 0.44 marquise diamond with only a microscopic feather inclusion. Great advice in picking a diamond, however, to me starting at the letter "I" in color and further down the color scale I would go with medium fluorescence instead of faint as faint does not make much of a difference in what I have seen. My daughter's engagement ring is an "I" and when I first saw it I thought it was an F or G. I asked her fiance what the color was and he said it was an "I" which floored me. I asked if there was fluorescence in the diamond and he said there was medium. That along with the diamond being round with triple Ex grading, the diamond is absolutely gorgeous and you really don't see much blue to even notice in the sunlight like you would with strong fluorescence. Once you get to "M" strong fluorescence would work. H is good for faint and G as well as it will not have enough florescence to make the diamond milky and you get a better price. Just my two cents :)
Yes, the stronger the fluorescence, the more the diamond will have a milky appearance. We recommend visually inspecting and seeing a diamond in person as they can look different than their report says.
Thank you so so much for these tips! I would want to know if fluorescence is good for colourless diamonds? Would be helpful if someone responds. Thank you!

Is it bad for a lab diamond to have noted that it’s faintly blue? I heard a lot of negative comments about it but, I am quite drawn to the slight blue color. It’s like you have a piece of the sky on your finger. And what color band would look good with it? Yellow or white gold?
Absolutely not! It is more of a personal preference. We have worked with numerous diamonds with a faint blue fluorescent which offset the natural yellow color of the diamond- resulting in a whiter diamond. Blue stones look great in both gold colors. With a faint blue, I recommend white gold to show off more of the blue color. Contact us to schedule a design consultation to create the perfect ring.
hmm... other videos say that step cuts (e.g. emerald cuts actually hide color better bc less facets (therefore less reflection of the yellow hue) in comparison to brilliant cuts (e.g. round, radiant)
With my years of experience and working with diamonds, step cuts will show more color because of less sparkle and light reflection. When we grade diamonds, we turn the diamonds upside down and look through the pavillion (bottom part of stone). This allows you to see the true diamond color without all of the distracting splashes of color from the sparkle. Sorry to hear there are misleading videos out there!
Just an FYI- in your comments, in your "Shop Online" link above, you missed the dash between the two words (Glad it's an https site :D). Great tips, and amazing work (on other vids), you've got me looking. Thanks for helping the engagement community cut through the red ($$) tape! We personally like GIA certifications and then EGL certs. We have worked with some certifications which are are a little more lenient on their grading qualities. For example a diamond may be graded by one cert as a G color which increases the price of the diamond because it is in the near colorless range. While GIA may grade the same diamond as I color. I always say, if you love how the diamond looks, then what the certification says may not matter to you!
I recently purchased a 1.79 emerald cut / Cut: Excellent / Color:H / Clarity: VS1. To upgrade my wife's ring. What are your thoughts wondering if that was a good purchase?
That was very sweet to upgrade your wife's ring. I am sure it is a beautiful diamond. A diamond can sound good on paper, but what really matters is how it looks in person! Sounds like you found a diamond in the upper quality of the three C's!
Hi! I ordered a GIA 2.10 carat H color VS1 Pear cut diamond... if I set it on a platinum Halo and pave band will it look yellow? also, what color should my side and halo stones be? so the center stone wont look warmer than them?

How noticeable is the difference between H & I in color? I am looking at a 1.75 ct radiant cut Diamond. There’s a decent price difference between H and I, so I’m curious how important color is here. Thanks ☺️
The larger the diamond, the more noticeable the color will be. I recommend to look at both diamonds in person to compare side by side. You may fall in love with one regardless of the color. We work with clients across the country to help them hand select the perfect diamond with a better quality or value. Feel free to contact us for more information.
I apologize your question got lost in the list of others. Color I-J would look good in either white or yellow gold. If it lower than J, I would suggest yellow gold.
Hi! What do you think of a K color but I1? In person it looked near colorless in different lightings and you can see feathery inclusions on the back with a magnifier, but its hidden when placed in the setting. It is a 2.25 round diamond with brilliant cut. It is also GIA certified and just wondering if it is good if I am willing to sacrifice for size and can't see the inclusions/color diff?
I always say if you see it in person and love it, than the certification doesn't matter. Unless you are purchasing the diamond more as an investment, than a higher quality would be best. The biggest thing you want to look at is the cut grade as this is what makes the diamond sparkle. The more sparkle a diamond has, the better it appears. A round diamond also helps "hide" more of the inclusions compared to other diamond shapes. The last thing that helps is your diamond is GIA certified. GIA has stricter guidelines to certifying a diamond. In other words, GIA says your diamond is a K, while another certification company may say your diamond is J.
Thanks for the video I loved loo at the rings you should me only engaged now with a lovely birthday just hiding the real one he has bought me i have not been it i have no idea where he has it just saying that it is only a friendship ring 💍 I am just love wearing my claddgh ring on the left hand side of my finger now as my engagement ring i am from Ireland 🇮🇪 love your rings it touched my heart ♥
It depends on a few factors. 1. The size of the diamond- the larger the diamond, the more noticeable the color. 2. What gold color will it be set in? Watch our video on how gold can influence a diamond's color. 3. Are there any fluorescence in the diamond which will alter the color. Feel free to reach out to us to help find the perfect diamond for you!

How come I can never find a 35 crown and a 40.7 pavilion, 56 table! They have the technology to cut any way they like. But I have not seen a perfect reflect dimension for a round no matter what the weight, probably cost t000000 much for the consumer
My question: Round cut diamond sparkles the most, what is the next type of cut diamond that sparkles the most after round diamond? Provided it’s the same grade color clarity size
Each diamond cut will have its own unique look and sparkle. Princess cut will be the next popular choice, while pear and marquise can give lots of sparkle if cut proportionately. Oval and radiant cut is also a great option for sparkle.
If you’re looking for a “good” or “perfect” diamond, then any kind of stone with fluorescence is considered poorer quality than a stone without fluorescence. Luxury brand jewellers (like Tiffany & Co.) ONLY use diamonds that are colourless or near-colourless (D, E, F, G, H & I) with very few inclusions (FL, IF, VVS1, VVS2, VS1 & VS2), and that have little or no fluorescence. However, if you are just wanting a diamond that looks good in person, there’s nothing wrong with buying a slightly lesser quality diamond like a K colour with fluorescence. The key to getting away with a slightly coloured diamond and fluorescence is to make sure there are very few inclusions in it.
The larger the diamond the more noticeable the color. Also you want to pay attention to the certification. Not all certifications grade diamonds with the same precision. I always suggest seeing a diamond in person. It can sound good on paper, but it all depends on if you like it when you see it. We also work directly with diamond cutters to find our client's the best diamond for their value. Feel free to contact us for more information.
Currently looking at a 1.07 carat, internally flawless, ideal cut, j color diamond for a pave petite twist band graded by IGI. Going with a bigger size carat since the gf’s finger is a size 8. Based on a few things you said in your video, do you think the j color is going to be visible with the other small diamonds in the pave setting?
Hi Justin, the ideal cut will help bring more sparkle to the diamond which should help brighten it. The IGI grading will be more lenient than GIA so it may appear to have more color compared to a GIA color J. You also want to make sure the side diamonds match the color of the main diamond. If the smaller diamonds are several grade brighter in color, it will make your main diamond appear more yellow than what it is. If you want a second opinion, we work with client all across the country to hand select a diamond with a better quality or value.
@@AmbrosiaJewelry thank you for the reply. After seeing that the Pave setting with the smaller diamonds are F/G color I decided it was too much of a chance that it was going to be a noticeable difference. It would have been perfect if the ring setting was going to be a yellow gold solitaire setting. Thanks again for the video! Learning more everyday

@@brandont5356 I agree! Each client will have their own preferences and taste when it comes to jewelry. We just help them find what makes them happy :)
The cut refers to the way the diamond is cut to proportions, there’s differences in RBC’s. Ideal, Excellent, fair, etc. And what about the clarity? I would much prefer sacrifice size and clarity over color and cut. People don’t have to go for a warmer diamond, if they can sacrifice something else
We are adding more videos about diamond's clarity, cut quality and carat weight. I enjoy educating our clients, so they understand what they are purchasing.
Is it wierd that my diamond has no main color? All you see are prisms. Yes I've had it checked is real. Oops asked my question before listening to the video. She answered it right away.
they are starting with "D", because they might find better ones with a higher quality, in that way they will have a wider upper range of classification
They originally had A, AA, A+, B- etc... When GIA created the standard grading system they selected D as the top color grade to eliminate any confusion and to wipe the slate clean.
We allow our clients to hand select the perfect diamond for themselves. After we compare diamonds side by side and educate each client, they feel more comfortable making a decision.
the bottom line is the Jewelers all Jewelers will lie to you about the worth of investment of the money if it's certified it's all a freaking lie been there done that.
It is not accurate to say all jewelers are liars. I know many jewelers who have a good heart and also educate their clients about gold, gems and diamonds. Many consumers have not taken the educational classes we have, so we try to educate them in only a few minutes, which has taken us years to learn. Based on one experience, a person should not limit their thinking by claiming one restaurant chain's food is horrible at every location, all mechanics take advantage of you, or all money managers are crooks. Yes, it is sad to have one bad apple ruin it for everyone else, but I hope you take the opportunity to work with a jeweler who has a good reputation with their clients.
Yellow gold is very dated and quite honestly very last century. I would instead opt to go with a near colorless diamond after all it's all about the diamond quality.
Each person has their own unique style and taste. We have made many yellow gold engagements ring for young brides and they are very modern looking. Gold is very popular in jewelry and interior design. It completely depends on the design if it will look outdated. That is the great thing about custom designing- you can make it your own style!

What color do you recommend for a setting that is yellow gold? I want the diamond to be bigger so I need to sacrifice something and I was thinking of lowering the color therefore I can get a bigger carat size.
I has a mild yellowing... but you can't see it... I don't see the point of buying a super high clear color grade if the karet is so tiny... no one will see a tiny karet ring that is perfect... as no one will see the mild yellowing on large karet

I want to purchase a 1.35 J VS1 Triple Ex cut GIA certified diamond. Any tips on what setting to you? I thought about a falling edge halo in white gold with a yellow gold channel princess cut pave setting. Thoughts? God bless

Hi
Does a pale colour diamond have any evil effects
I don't completely understand the question- can you explain more?
Looking at 3 CT oval ring in j color, si1 very goofed cut and faint flourecent blue.... is that a good looking diamond in your opinion? Thanks.
Hello Christina, we do not provide suggestions without looking over the entire cert. There are many variables to look for when purchasing a diamond.
J color? A large yellow diamond isn’t going to impress anyone
@@msk3905 The larger the diamond the more visible the color. A J color will have some body color, but may look good in a yellow gold setting.
Just an FYI- in your comments, in your "Shop Online" link above, you missed the dash between the two words (Glad it's an https site :D). Great tips, and amazing work (on other vids), you've got me looking. Thanks for helping the engagement community cut through the red ($$) tape! Wondering thoughts on purchasing a GIA certified diamond alone, then having it set in a piece from a jeweler- anyone have any exp. in that arena?

Does SGL and GSI are a good diamond certificate?
We work with clients all across the states. If you are looking for design help, please contact us and we would be more than happy to help provide our expert design suggestions and to create the perfect ring!
Which is a better metal for a 3/4 marquis IJ good cut daimond, 14k gold or 14k White gold?

What do you think about a 1.5ct H color radiant diamond on a hidden halo platinum band? Will that show too much color?
Nope. It will look beautiful
Color H will have very little color and looks beautiful in all white metals.
Is N color dimond really yellow or is it hard to tell once set?
It depends on a few factors. 1. The size of the diamond- the larger the diamond, the more noticeable the color. 2. What gold color will it be set in? Watch our video on how gold can influence a diamond's color. 3. Are there any fluorescence in the diamond which will alter the color. Feel free to reach out to us to help find the perfect diamond for you!
@AmbrosiaJewelry 3c platinum band solitare style I'm looking for a higher color rating I dont think it will shine like something above j rating

Hello, so do you think K color with Strong fluorescence is good?
Hello Thao, we do not provide suggestions without looking over the entire cert. There are many variables to look for when purchasing a diamond.
so when it has DEF-color is a D?
That means the diamond's color is between D-F. It most likely does not have an official certification, otherwise it would list only one color.
I’m looking to buy a 3 carat ring in a cushion cut and really want to do an I color to save on the cost- do you think it would appear too yellow?
The larger the diamond the more noticeable the color. Also you want to pay attention to the certification. Not all certifications grade diamonds with the same precision. I always suggest seeing a diamond in person. It can sound good on paper, but it all depends on if you like it when you see it. We also work directly with diamond cutters to find our client's the best diamond for their value. Feel free to contact us for more information.
Cushion cut will shows it’s real colour easily than round cut.
The best diamonds to buy are the ones that’s GIA certified
@@4evadiamonds667 it depends
@@4evadiamonds667 you can still buy a GIA diamond that’s awful quality - GIA certified only means it’s been graded by GIA, nothing more.

@@justinayers6805 I would agree that I think the F/G will be too much of a difference. We are always there to help our client understand what to look for when purchasing a diamond.
J is a bad color D-F is good
Fluorescent only works on J or lower colour grade. No one will buy a G or above with fluorescent and of course it is less expensive.
We have had some clients purchase a G or higher with slight fluorescence to help save money. They can still be a lovely diamond.
@@AmbrosiaJewelry we better tell all the factors to clients and let them select what makes them happy 😊

I would rather sacrifice color over clarity. It is just a matter of preference
Carbonado i mean! 😂
Red diamond is crazy expensive and only a few of them exists in the whole world
yes they are! I am privileged to be one of the very few jewelers who have custom designed with a genuine 1.00-carat red diamond.
Is it wierd that my diamond has no main color? All you see are prisms. Yes I've had it checked is real.
Oops asked my question before listening to the video. She answered it right away.
they are starting with "D", because they might find better ones with a higher quality, in that way they will have a wider upper range of classification
Start with D for Diamond!
They originally had A, AA, A+, B- etc... When GIA created the standard grading system they selected D as the top color grade to eliminate any confusion and to wipe the slate clean.
I hate how every channel on TH-cam preaches H-G color diamonds. Quality > Quanity
