I visited the UP for the very first time a couple weeks ago. My American friends and I happened to walk by the Dee Stadium and decided to take a peek inside. Ducky was there, and he kindly gave us a tour. He told us about his family's roots in Finland, hockey in the UP, his three-week trip to Finland in the 90's, and much more. All this with a genuine Yooper accent, and afterwards I wished I'd had it on tape. Then I happened to make a Google search for Dee Stadium and stumbled upon this video clip...
Hats of to this man and his dedication to an art form not often thought about. Lacing up and hitting the ice after a fresh sheet has been put down is the best. For that first 5 minutes you can really let loose.
