Hey... I loved ur video. When I was a kid growing up I had a big appetite. Ate pretty much all the time. At that time my father and older brother nicknamed me “Hoss”. Some of my friends and family still call me that! Very proud and honored to have that nickname. God Bless!!

Another excellent episode, Barbo! Many thanks for the interesting info. Dan Blocker was truly a unique treasure. Thanks for contributing more than a little bit to his well-deserved immortality.

Dan also taught school in Glendale, California. He taught my sister's English class.

Neato! What are your sister's recollections? Was he a good teacher? Regular for the whole semester or just a substitute teacher? What year/semester was this? 1956?

@@jamesngetha6760 She remembered him as a fun teacher to learn from.
Sadly she succumbed to the dreaded "Plague" last August & I can't ask her for anymore info. We moved away from California in 1966 so it would've been prior to that. I think she would've been in Jr high at the time.

@@cathyrowe594, so sorry to hear the sad news about your sister. To the best of my knowledge Dan quit teaching after his acting career took off (almost certainly by 1958, when he was employed regularly in the TV series, "Cimarron City"). He may have continued to sub. as late as 1957 but your sister most probably had him as an English teacher in the 1955, '56 or '57 terms. As I recall Dan was a guest on The Tonight Show in the early 60s & mentioned that before becoming a full-time actor, he'd taught English. Fellow guest, comedian Henry Morgan, didn't miss a beat & asked, "In which country?" Dan grinned.

The best moments on TV are Bonanza. I love the ballerina episode. And the one where the early rock singer sings Dead and Gone.

Wow! Don't take this the wrong way, but I think you're the first one to admit publicly to "love the ballerina" episode. May I ask, what was it about that episode that you loved?

I remember seeing Lorne Green wearing a black patch on his eye in one of the episodes, can't recall which one but he actually did have some type of eye problem in real life, I remember reading somewhere about how it happened but just can't recall where so yeah, Lorne Green definitely did wear a black eye patch on Bonanza for some reason
