    Ok, so I want to make this very clear. For the negative commenters: THIS SYSTEM ISN’T FOR EVERYBODY. This is not a basic flat iron video. Typically, 5 passes with the flat iron is not ideal. However, we need to understand the difference between a Silk Press (basic flat iron) and a Smoothing System. Candidates for this type of treatment would be: (A) those who may be having a hard time maintaining their curly hair and are contemplating a relaxer (B), Curly Girls Who Prefer To Be Heat Trained, OR (C) Those who are Transitioning from relaxed to Natural. This treatment helps to protect Color Treated Hair, HOWEVER, during the initial process...Semi permanent haircolor will fade a bit. However, since a semi permanent hair dye is not an oxidative dye, it can be refreshed. I hope this clears up the confusion. Any harsh comments WILL NOT be tolerated on this platform. I have a strong relationship with the block feature. I am VERY Protective over my clients and online community here, so let’s keep it educational. Any questions can be asked respectfully. Thank you! -Janaè Miller

    Yes this is like the keratin treatments. The hair is protected by the product and that’s what you have to do to activate it. It does no damage to the hair. My daughter had this done and when she washed it it went back curly. She didn’t have to detangle and when she blow dried it, it went back perfectly straight. During the three months it was on her hair she had no breakage

      No problem. I’m an esthetician and a nurse and even if her hair is dry on the ends like nails and skin it takes time for it to repair itself. People are so silly and ignorant. They obviously don’t listen nor read because you CLEARLY explained that! 🙄🤦🏾‍♀️

      "she had no breakage." This is key. I want something that will prevent breakage. Relaxed or natural, my hair is waaaaaay too prone to breakage and doesn't really hold moisture very well.
      I think if I had something to coat my strands that would support my hair routine enough to see length retention. Thank you so much for sharing this!

    No matter what fun color you have in your hair it will fade with heat! No matter if it’s 5 passes or two it will fade if you have it on high alsooooo she did cut it so that’s why it was more green then blue in the end of the video 🤦🏽‍♀️ I always let my clients know that when they go home not to over wash it or straighten it with high heat if they want the color to last longer. You guys just skipped through this whole video then commented all mad relaxxxx lol

    • @janaeraquelmiller
      @janaeraquelmiller  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Gabriela Villicana Exactly! Thank you for taking the time to educate! I would only recommend This system for a few people. It’s not for everyone, especially if they’re fearful
      Of heat and curl pattern changes.

      The sustem has heat protectant in it. Thats why she had to do so many passes. With the products in her hair, it most likely wasnt getting straight with just the first pass. Thats why i stopped using heat protectant and i have no issues. Heat protectant is for people who dont know what temperature to use on their hair.

      My hair is also fine which seen more when my hair is straight. I get the chi enviro treatment on my hair and i mainly wear my hair natural as it helps with the frizz and makes combing it out easier. I think its meant for if you wear your hair straight more but i often wear mine curly so it is up to you.

    I swear, some of these comments remind me why teaching students how to pay attention is so important. "Wasn't her hair blue, now it's green??" Ok well weren't you watching when she blow dried her hair and it went from green to blue, then she trimmed most of the bottom blue parts of her hair off? "5 passes on her hair??" Yup, she said that seals in the treatment AND that at 1st that idea startled her as well. "Her hair is dead, etc..." Ummmm wasn't the point of the treatment to protect it?? "5 passes will get anybody's hair straight, even without this treatment." Mmhmm and have you looking like a chia pet 20 minutes later. Smh Just wondering how these points are so easily missed by ADULTS? Its neither a yay nor a nay for me because i don't honestly know whether my hair can take this kind of process BUT point is, as many have already stated, it is an OPTION for those that have hair that can. And honestly if you don't like or want this, just move on. No need for negative or anecdotal comments for someone simply trying to educate others. Sincerely the best Janae Miller. From one teacher to another. ( I actually have a student right now whose name is Janae and she's lovely. Just saying. Lol)

    Got this done yesterday and I LOVE it so far. I literally just wake up, smooth down with my hands and go. My hair feels transformed. Silkier, shinier, and stronger than a regular silk press. I'm a natural 4b and I'm using this to retain length so I can achieve long hair. My stylist said she has used it for that exact purpose so I plan to keep up with it every 4 months.

      Janae Miller Media No, sorry... That’s not true (and you know it). Extreme direct heat fades colour, simple as that. And that’s a fact, Jack. In fact this video is great evidence of that fact - you could literally see the colour fading with each pass of the flat iron.

    • @janaeraquelmiller
      @janaeraquelmiller  6 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Jada Mcghee Me either, however, we’ll cook that chicken in the pan for 5-10 minutes...or more, which then increases the heat within that chicken by a possible 5x. In comparison to this flat iron, the flat iron isn’t sitting on one section of hair for nearly as long, Nor is there any product in the hair to cause that type of heat conduction. Thanks for watching.

      @janaeraquelmiller  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Deyaaa No, That isn’t true at all. Especially, with heat protectant. Now, if your hair is fine...relaxed, or brittle...it’s possible that 410 degrees is too high for that hair type. Again, heat temperatures are adjusted per Hair type/condition.

    • @jasmine_daville
      @jasmine_daville 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Janae Miller Media In general , mostly every-bodies hair burns at 410 degrees . This system allows you to go to that temperature but still your hair will fry at that temperature .

    My daughter got something like this, had to do the big chop in the end to get her back to all natural, don't know if the stylist used too much heat or what. It really looked beautiful in the beginning, better than a relaxer but after doing it so many times, for some years it began to shed, wasn't healthy anymore.

    • @cfoster6804
      @cfoster6804 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The question is what was your daughter doing to her hair in between treatments to add to the heat usage. People leave that part out all the time and go straight to blaming the product.

      TORI KEELS they’re very much similar. Smoothing Treatments do tend to loosen the curl pattern, so one must be sure that is their desire.

      It can be stripped out of the hair though and the curl pattern will slowly return over time.

    I use the agave smoothing system at work. I have to wash the hair, dry it and then apply the product, let it sit for 20 minutes n blow dry on medium then do 10 passes with the flat iron, wash it out n then style.... I might try this one... cuz the agave one makes me cough really bad.

    • @janaeraquelmiller
      @janaeraquelmiller  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cee S Hi! What products are you using now? Although, they might be heavy, Butters are nice on straight hair if you feel the hair is truly lacking moisture. So, a little amount will go a long way. Also, your preparation and products before flat ironing is key. Carols Daughter had a nice butter that I’ve tried on my flat iron hair before...the name escapes me though. I just remember it had an herbal smell and it was white. Not water based.

  • @tboykin13tb
    @tboykin13tb 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    My thing is, with these smoothing products or treatments, if it is not chemically based then y does the stylist have to ware gloves??? 😲

    • @janaeraquelmiller
      @janaeraquelmiller  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      T B It’s because the product is sticky when dry. Great observation, though.

    • @HenniiDM
      @HenniiDM 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Janae Miller Media So why did you wear the gloves to apply it? And if the hair is sticky when dry, why did you touch it after blowing it dry, Wouldn’t it still be sticky?

    • @janaeraquelmiller
      @janaeraquelmiller  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Henny D Correction, when it is going from wet to dry, it can become sticky. Once the product is settled into the hair, it is no longer a problem.

    I have a question this won’t damage the hair even more ? Like because of all the heat??? I have very curly hair and it’s naturally dry curly hair so will this not damage my hair and ruin my natural curls if I want to go back ????

    • @janaeraquelmiller
      @janaeraquelmiller  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Farrah jersey Hi! Well, I wouldn’t recommend this treatment to anyone who has severely compromised hair. The goal of the System is to coat the hair with an Amino Acid based barrier. If I could liken it with an analogy, it’s like adding sunscreen over your skin before going into the sun. (Maybe that’s a horrible example lol) But, the purpose is to try to help you understand what the System is doing to the hair Strand in terms of protecting. As you can see, the product starts to settle into the cuticle of the hair during the application and blow dry Stage, so once the flat iron phase starts, the hair is protected from becoming brittle. Now, as far as curls...I’ve seen mixed reviews. Some curls bounce back with no issue, others don’t. If you don’t desire to lose curl definition, and your hair is fine textured, I wouldn’t recommend this system. I hope this answers your question!

    The steam coming off the hair when you were flat ironing is scary! Because I remember when I used to put a heat protective spray on my hair before flat ironing it used to steam like that. I initially got told it was just the heat protective spray steaming off. After awhile I got told that no it was because of my hair!
