Sounds like you have a VECU issue. Get it into the dealership. I work for Paccar, and our T680 and T880 keywords have the same issue with the dead pedal and transmission shifting. The stalling at startup sounds like a throttle positioning sensor.

Waited 8 months for mine, 7.3 with the ten spd and yes the tranny likes to skip gears when not under load, so far 0 issues, that state registration fee sucks. My state allows me to put my military disabled plate on her since I am 100% disabled, so it's almost 0 cash a year to keep her going and my plates are permeant..

I am looking at trading my 2013 Ram Cummins for a new super duty with the 7.3. For the past 10 years my truck has been for the most part trouble free. Only real cost, routine maintenance and expensive diesel fuel. You got me thinking about getting rid of my Ram now!

    • @Sn0Pro7

I loved my 2012 Cummins and never had any serious issues with it. Had 200k, tuned with weight loss and tranny never had any issues. Until….it burned up due to an electrical short. The 7.3 gas is a beast for a gas truck. But it’s no diesel

I wonder if the diesel uses a different 10 speed? I have f-350 and almost 1k and it shifts like butter. Half the time I don’t even know it’s shifting.

    • @Sn0Pro7

i recently learned they are slightly different. both 10R140's but the diesel has some different clutch packs etc for the considerably more torque it needs to handles. so yes a slightly different variation

It’s an XL but it has literally every available option. Has remote start, big screen, nice wheels, upfitter switches, bed step, bed lights, bed liner, mud flaps, wheel well liners, satellite radio, etc. My truck stickered for $57,300 and with A-plan I got it for $49,000 plus tax. The 10 speed is SUPPOSED to skip gears, especially UNLOADED. Loaded in tow mode, you'll hit every gear. When you get used to it, you'll get used to how it helps you brake under load as well.
You do need to get the cam phaser checked, that stalling is the common indicator.
As for your registration, yeah.. that's painful. It's also not the trucks fault..LoL
My 22 F350 CCLB is the same, she's fun to turn..LoL. I know it's hard coming from a RAM/Cummins set up, you sound like a lot of people I've spoken to that have done the jump for one reason or the other. If your going to get it tuned, I'd recommend doing a 5Star.. they seem to have the best tuning set up for the 7.3. Obviously get the cam phaser checked first. Once you get used to the power curve difference, and how the 10speed works, you'll be a diesel convert like most I'd wager.
I used to have a 92 RAM Cummins..loved it.. and it was a massive change going to a F150 XLT with the 5.0L high output with a 3spd. This last one was going from a 20 F150 XLT with the 2.7L/10spd to the F350. First week with the F150 I was on the phone with Ford a few times over the transmission skipping gears until finally someone educated me on it. It's an interesting change to say the least.
    Enjoy!
