We demoed Disney animated on the saturday and weren't impressed at all. The background pieces didnt fit into the playing boards well, and the things you do on your turn arent particularly interesting and get repetitive very quickly. Would be interested to know if this was just us
Oh no that's a shame. We are very excited to play with the family, we are hoping to give it a few plays over next few weeks with a range of ages. It does look very pretty though. Had hoped it would be a family approachable alternative to Ark Nova

Don't worry about painting. Just give it a shot. You can always repaint or fix small mistakes. Also painting for me is about the fun and getting games to the table. I do not sweat the minor mistakes. Never judge your work against others.

Both your "on the scene" videos and this one point to a fun time. You got spoiled by the publishers too! I like the philosophy of taking a chance on bring-and-buy games you know little about. As Glados would say if some aren't as good as you hoped: "There's no sense crying Over every mistake You just keep on trying 'til you run out of cake" :D I'm looking forward to your thoughts on those purchases. Boop is on my wish list. It looks abstract yet cute. And a bit of a brain burner. I didn't know about "After US" before the show. But boy did that one make a splash. Please make a video about it when you can. It's also hard to overstate my satisfaction at seeing Outlive and Vindication in the list. Great choices! :) I would imagine the Outlive Collector's is one of the remaining ones from the KS stock. I don't think it has been reprinted since. That's a great find and nearly made me wish I was at UKGE just for it. The main differences are a bigger board, realistic resources and standees. The game plays well without, but I'm sure it will have great table presence with those. It's my favourite post-apocalyptic euro. And Vindication is a great choice. You likely got it cheaper than if you had backed it too. Welcome to the clan of the Wretched! Being thrown overboard from your ship is only a minor setback. For that one, I'd recommend starting with the base game only and alternating some of the mini card/tile expansions included with it. But only once you have a sense for the game. We nearly always add Treachery for the added interaction. We alternate between the others. Only start throwing in the bigger expansions when you want something different. The base game is a great starting point. Happy post UKGE gaming!

Are you in the mood for being Wretched and fighting to gain honour whatever the cost, or to scrounge resources so your people do not starve? Board games are such fun times. :) I'd lean slightly towards Vindication because we love it so much. But, as you know, I'm a fan of both. Cons or expos tend to be aspirational because of work and family obligations. We always attend DragonMeet in London. But that's a smaller con mostly about TTRPGs. Boardgames are mostly a sidenote. My daughter is also a big fan of Comic Con and we often spend a day there. I'd like to attend boardgame cons. UKGE is an aspiration. Maybe next year. Maybe Essen too some day. It's got to be done at least once I think. Anyhoo, have fun with the new games. We got to try some of our friends' UKGE haul this week (Kites, Archeos Society). Tribes of the Wind and Beast are next hopefully.

Chaos Cards had the best prices, got The Wolves for £34. I went back at the end of Friday to pick up Boop but they had sold out, shame.
