Does he have a skill or talent or passion that he's engaged in and that a partner would be drawn to? Does he have literally anything going for him other than that he likes her and is nice and looks out for her? IE the bare minimum?
Like I get it, shows like this are tailor made for lonely losers to give them hope that someone will come save them without them having to do the work to make themselves appealing first and just because they were being a "nice guy". But lets not pretend that this would actually happen IRL and it's actually a realistic situation.
