Warmachine MK4 Batrep

- This is my first batrep made with Premiere Pro. I started learning it last month after the big debacle with Filmora. It took a bit to learn enough of Premiere to do what I need for my batreps & in the process I learned a few things that I had fun with on this one.
This is also our first MK4 batrep with actual Prime lists.

The Scenic Steamroller variant calls for d3+3 pieces of terrain to be scoring pieces. However, Donna & I found that in smaller point games, that can make scenarios VERY live. We spoke to Thomas & got his blessing to use d3 terrain pieces when playing small games (25 pt MK3 / 50 pt MK4).

Batrep After Action Review + Editing Notes

Jason: Some bad dice rolls got me a couple times, but I think what really got me was a combo of trying to make the most out of the only Prime list I had available & not recognizing a few opportunities until after the game.
For one thing, I never took advantage of the Revenger's arc node from an offense standpoint. I should have channeled "Death Sentence" onto the Pureblood before charging into him in Protectorate turn 2. The other thing was not realizing that Gade would be exposed since the Blood Pack had Pathfinder & Treewalker.
As for the list itself, I don't hate it, but it was weird not having ANY heavies and 2 support units. The issue is that we don't have a lot of Protectorate built & painted that works in MK4 yet. So, I went with what I had to get a 50 pt list. Our only Protectorate heavy that's ready for the table is an Indictor. We got a Vanquisher recently, but it's only primed so far & still in the queue to be painted. I also have a unit of Exemplar Cinerators that are primed & need to be painted.
I'd like to get those all painted up & revamp the list with them.
Donna: When we first came up with this list for my Circle, I was really worried. I've never played Kromac before, never played with 2 heavy beasts, never played with Ghetorix, never played with Tharn Blood Pack...a whole lot of unknowns for me to overcome.
It also gives me just 7 models on the table which made me worry about how long they'd last, but being able to heal Remus & the Blood Pack plus the fact that only 1 of my guys is a small base...it's a more powerful list than I expected at first.
Remus & Ghetorix do a lot of damage. And I got really luck that Remus was able to hang on by a thread. I was just one bad dice roll from him dying in rounds 2 and 3.
That does explain the list choices. Fortunately, the new Temple Guardians army is extremely good, so having that Indictor painted is a good head start.
Love the narrator in the background. Make the whole Battle rep so much more dramatic!
Protectorate had a real bad day.

I'm working on my first batrep for Warcaster: Neo-Mechanika at the moment, but after that the next Warmachine Batrep will be either Circle vs Cryx or Circle vs Orgoth.

23:30 Worth noting; a model that is thrown goes the full distance of the roll until it contacts an equal or larger size base. In this case with a roll of 6 I think Rebuke would have cleared the neophyte and landed behind him. My favorite thing in the game in mk3 was to kill a warcaster by throwing his own warjack on top of him. It was a bit more dependable back then since the distance wasn't determined by a d6 roll.
Also, I gotta say I absolutely love these batreps. Keep up the great work!

Great report! Definitely didn't go the way I would have expected with the model count disparity.

We definitely have more planned. We just posted our 7th MK4 batrep a few weeks ago. We alternate 1 Warmachine batrep with 1 Warcaster batrep and just started working on our next Warcaster video today.
Our next Warmachine batrep will be the first one with 2 new MK4 armies: Khador Winter Korps VS Orgoth Sea Raiders.
Do you think 2D markers for corpses and wrecks would be useful for smaller games on an aesthetic level?
Absolutely! We also play small skirmish size games & love how the markers add to the immersion with the visuals.
