    Thanks for the beginners' guide! My Avata just arrived and I'm in the process of setting everything up. This sure came in handy. I've flown a lot of different R/C stuff over the years, but this is my first dive into FPV. The Motion Controller is really the reason I got this. It looks like a great way to get a taste of FPV flight. I know the learning curve can be quite long using a regular transmitter. Also, what exactly is this drone made of? Thanks again and be well!

    • @AirPhotography
      @AirPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks Shawn for this great instruction video. Just got my Avada today so the 11 year old grandson and I can fly. Going to start out with the controller and later transition to the motion controller as you recommended. You mentioned that you can connect to a smart phone via the DJI fly app. Can the smart phone take the place for wearing the goggles?

  • @MindMishmash
    @MindMishmash ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Literal perfect video. Now having the Avata for 3 months now originally starting with the Motion Controller I can tell you that it is not all too great. Its very sensitive to slight movements of your wrist, especially if you have shakier hands. Also it halves the max speed you can fly, and you simply cannot descend past like 30 degrees downwards (relative to the level plane of straight flight if that makes sense) without the drone stopping itself to super slow speed. I have been a standard drone remote controller pilot with the Mini 3 and Mavic for a year or so now, so the experience with the joysticks definitely helps with the transition to the fpv controller, but even if you have not used a controller before I highly recommend starting with this over the Motion Controller. The Motion Controller is convenient at times because the learning curve is easier, but after the first like month you're gonna want the manual controller to do all the things you probably bought the drone for in the first place lol.
    I wanted to also add DJI basically rips you off with the new Goggles 2 by giving you slightly better quality in the goggles screen (kinda useless anyways) but halving the range of your drone/goggles transmission, which is far more important. And its ~$200 more... So get the original goggles combo.

  • @arkie1248
    @arkie1248 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This video was tremendously helpful, thank you. My Avata is on order, and I now have a good foundation for my first FPV flight. (I already fly a Mavic.) I'm hoping that those who prefer the traditional controller for FPV tend to be biased because that's what they already know because I really want to love the joystick controller.

    Great video. Just about ready for my first Avata flight with the motion controller. Questions regarding the display in your video. Why are there two height readings and why does the center reading sometime show in red and then completely disappears at higher altitudes. I’ve never seen this in the Fly app with my Mini and Mini2. Thanks.

  • @chrislove222
    @chrislove222 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    For those who want to use the DJI Assistant app to upgrade firmware, note that while you can use a regular USB-C cable for the Avata and controller, it won't work for the goggles for some reason. Instead, use a UBC-C to USB-A cable (and then adapt back to USB-C if needed) and the app will recognize the device. Astounding, I know.

    Congratulations for the detailed video. A question: When a flight is made indoors or e.g. under bridges, buildings, etc. the GPS is likely to not work, what if the signal is lost (it is known that in ce mode, this happens at 300-500 meters), will the RTH be activated ?? And if this is set to 50m. ???

    • @AirPhotography
      @AirPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it will only return home if the RC signal is lost. If the GPS signal is lost it will keep flying, you just have to be cautious of wind as it could cause the drone to drift when hovering

    Nice guide. Is there any way to lock the gimbal to always look straight ahead instead of tilting up or down with the motion controller? It would be useful for picking up elevation without having to look at the sky.
