This worked beautifully!! I didn’t have fishing line so I took 3 long pieces of dental floss and twisted them all together to make them stronger and it worked perfectly! Thank you so much for this 😊
Shazam!! It worked like a charm! I just removed a broken command hook that I thought was stuck forever - thank you so much for sharing this genius tip!
Brilliant! I saw several other videos that recommended using dental floss but using fishing line ended up being much more effective. Thanks for making this video.
Brilliant! I had one of those “painting of some creepy clowns that is apparently crucial to the structural integrity of the building” type situations. If only Jim and Pam had known this!
Thank you so much for this video! I didn’t have dental floss or fishing line so I used my gold string wire that I use for making jewelry - worked like a charm!
So glad I found your video! Luckily, my floss was strong enough to get through the adhesive and was able to get everything off with no issue! Thank you!
@@CarolineWoodbridge it’s wet indeed! Seems like another year of atmospheric rivers 🌊 🤣 Glad that the dental floss solution worked for you. Time to get more Command hooks to start decorating for Christmas 🎄 🎁
This worked perfectly. THANK YOU!!! I didn't have any fishing line so I decided to try the dental floss before I went out and bought it. The first floss I tried broke and when I went to put it away, I realized I had another kind of floss, so I decided to try it. This floss worked! (I now see the note about twisting 3 long pieces of dental floss together and I'll try that next time.)
Thank you so much for this video. I didn't have fishing line but I did have dental floss. The traditional dental floss worked great for me and totally saved my drywall..Thank you.
OMG you have. no idea how muchI needed this..unfortunately ruined my ceilnig by ripping off the tab and stripping piece of paint off...the only thing I needed to do was add something to hold the fishing line because it can dig into hands and it's painful. :D
Sorry to hear about your ceiling! Yes, good idea about holding something with the fishing line as it can dig into your skin. A pair of gloves would probably do. Hopefully it won't be too much of a pain to fix your ceiling!
Bee Keller I would say that any fishing line above a 5lbs test would work. Heavier test fishing line (like 30lbs +) might be tricky as it is a little thicker, but it may still work. Thanks for watching the video!
I definitely think it’s better than the cloth Velcro strips. I feel that the Command strips hold much stronger because of their hook and loop design. Hopefully you can get a chance to test it out!
Thank you for this video 🙏🏻my wife CUT OFF THE PULL TABS while hanging some floating Halloween candles on the ceiling today. At least I know I’ll be able to get these down w/o damaging my ceiling now.
this worked, and bonus I was able to use this aggressively thick dental floss from Walgreens which literally slices your gums for this. It's basically the equivalent of fishing wire.
Julissa Velasquez there’s no harm in trying thread, however I think the thread might break. Better to try dental floss if you don’t have any fishing line. If you have a broken command strip, let me know how it goes!
ok i manage to find fishing hook and i tried it and then it took the hook off with a piece of my wall 😩😩 now i have to patch it up there are so strong the hooks 😤😤😤
This worked beautifully!! I didn’t have fishing line so I took 3 long pieces of dental floss and twisted them all together to make them stronger and it worked perfectly! Thank you so much for this 😊
Glad it worked and love how you combined the dental floss to make it stronger...great idea! 💪
The triple floss worked like a charm. Thanks!!
Thanks for this awesome tip! It worked with 3 dental floss strings wrapped together 👍🏻
Thank you for the alternative solution! Two-fold dental floss works very well.
Glad I read this because this worked about the dental floss triple because I don't have fishing line LOL

Thank you so much for this video! I didn’t have dental floss or fishing line so I used my gold string wire that I use for making jewelry - worked like a charm!
Glad it worked out for you and happy that the the gold string wire did the job!
Worked great! Didn’t damage my walls at all. I only had floss so I also used a hair dryer as well.
Glad it worked out and great idea about using the hair dryer! I'm sure that this made the adhesive a little easier to remove. Thanks for watching!
Doubling up on the dental floss will work if one strand isn't good enough. Thanks for the great advice and Happy New Year

Thanks! I didn’t have fishing line handy, but a piece of metal wire wiggled around a bit seems to work on the same principle and does a clean job.
Awesome! Glad the metal wire worked for you and way to be resourceful!
I just happened to have 8lb fishing line after doing a craft project with it. Worked like a charm!!
Awesome! Glad it worked and you got your command strip safely off the wall!
