Dont understand why you would like to thread the globe.... Turkey is after all the best country in the world..... And it would take a life time to see whole Turkey.... Just stay in paradise and share you're beautifull Journey ♥️♥️♥️ And when ever you're in Marmaris come visit us, would love to meet you
Eastern Anatolia looks very beautiful... So mesmerisingly natural and breath-taking. Thank you Chris & Marianne for sharing your experiences of this wonderful country.
When we visited Van Castle, we were in awe by the history and the stunning views!!!!! The food were really tasty as well. We are glad you guys made it to the Van Castle. The drive around Lake Van is also something NOT to miss while you are in this area. Best dialogue of this vlog "I am literally unable to stop eating this bread." We are glad you guys are exploring the east where barely any tourists visit. Love & respect from Bangladesh
Another good road trip video.. Batman is the oil city of Turkey. I was there for summer apprenticeship during university years, about 50years ago.. :)) The roads look so good nowadays..
Great to see a Hoopoe bird in Turkey - I was born in South Africa and used to seeing them and hearing their distinctive call. Thank you for your vlogs - from Brisbane Australia.
Wow, that’s a huge breakfast. However, I thought a classic van breakfast was breakfast in the van 😆 As for the city of Batman, I didn’t see anyone driving a Batmobile 😂
i think the bird was a hoopoe! beautiful camping spot! Just longing to see Van! We are getting close to finishing our van and then we can start exploring again! ❤️❤️❤️
That breakfast looked so delicious. There is nothing as delightful as freshly baked bread. Everyone seems so kind and friendly. That is one of the reasons I am so keen to visit Turkey.
Loving this series - I think these guys are doing more for tourism in Turkey than the Turkish tourist board. Beautiful country and the cradle of civilisation.
What an amazing castle. It's hard to imagine the manpower it took to build something that large on a steep incline. Having to move all that stonework up those tracks.
Wow - exactly !! We have been blown away by the amount of inaccessible places that have been built on !! We have really enjoyed this side of Turkey 🤗👍🌺
What a beautiful place Van is. I thought it could not get any more beautiful but oh my goodness its breath taking. Thankyou lovely people for all you do. I am in awe. Have a lovely Christmas with your families you so deserve it M x
Van, Mardin, Diyarbakir - had a great time exploring this part if Turkey while based in Baghdad in the mid-late 80s. It's fantastic to see it all again. The roads are so much better and the towns look so much more prosperous. Eastern Turkey still looks as beautiful as ever and the people just as friendly.
Travelled by train from Tehran to Ankara, part of the journey took us across lake Van from midnight to early morning. Turkey, one of my favourite countries thst I have visited 2x.
I love being with you in the Eastern regions of Turkey - and I think the "secret" of getting in good contact with the local people is to say "Merhaba!" And If you are able to add a "Nasilsin?" (as Chris often does) they will be so surprised about being addressed in their language... Congrats you are not too shy to do this! A few polite words are the key to the people's hearts. I wish more of my countrymen would understand this and not be too shy to act like you. ♥️👍♥️
Did you get to see any of the Van swimming cats ? This takes me back to when i used to drive overland bus through this area en route to Nepal, awesome videos.
Many thanks for your special card Marianne, Chris and Trudy. That was a lovely surprise. We both hope you have a brilliant Christmas with your family and look forward to wherever you end up next year. Love Elizabeth & Peter.

Love your vídeos Friends! I was at Turkey for more than a year last year, but I could'nt travel so much because of pandemia. Enjoy Mardin it is one of the most beautiful cities of Turkey!
I Love This Place too Marianne. That campsite on the lake was "the best". I found your bird, it's a Eurasian Hoopoe. I think when I can, I will come to Turkey, rent a campervan and experience all these wonderful places you have been to. Mardin reminded me of coming into Athens and seeing the Acropolis on the hill. Looking forward to the tour. Hey, won't be long before you head off to England, soon eh? Take care
I do hope you are able to experience this too - we are just blown away by the beauty and diversity .... Yes we are having Christmas at home with the family !! Woo Hoo xx
van, in a van is the most beautiful. it is where life started. from noah to abraham they all enjoyed beauty of lake van . please wisit mount ararat and cudi mountain where noahs ark is.thanks for sharing your experinces with us.
Turkey has amazing landscapes to explore. We love this country, but we explored it in a small city car, so sometimes it was quite a challenge to find nice place to camp.
Quality we have been Turkey 9 times. Never been to the east part but would very much like to see Göbeklitepe. The most ancient monuments on earth older than the pyramids apparently. Turkish culture and its people are truly amazing ♥️🙌🏼 just love everything about the country. Keep treading we’re absolutely loving it. Love & light on your journeys.
Wonderful video again. It's a pleasure to watch you travel. the bird on the lakeshore is Eurasian Hoopoe. It lives almost everywhere in Turkey and goes by 28 different names as far as I know. The most common of these names are; İbibik, Hüthüt, Çavuşkuşu, Kepezkuşu, and Taraklı (meaning "the one with a comb"). In Islamic tradition, it is believed to be the messenger of Prophet Solomon. The conversation between hoopoe and Solomon in Surah Al-Naml in holy Quran had a great influence in considering this bird as an aware and message carrying creature. That’s why hoopoe is widely known as Solomon’s bird and is the guide of other birds. It is revered by local people across Turkey and not hunted due to a sort of sacred status.
@@TREADtheglobe You're welcome, Chris. As you may infer from the above explanation, you both had a once-in-a-lifetime experience on the shore by seeing this holy bird. It's a sign, dear Chris&Marianne, it's an epiphany. You are chosen, anointed by divine grace. What else can a traveler want!
Mmmmm!! Loved the look of that wonderful Breakfast apart from the "wet bread" dish!!😀 Another brilliant journey once again. We were hoping to get booked for coming out next year BUT!!! Goodness knows when it will ever be a good/safe time to book. Sure as "eggs is eggs" we would be there and a lockdown/restrictions will happen here "again"!!! We would not bother too much if we got stuck in Turkey. It is just all the uncertainty. We had a cotton fields round our house in Dalyan. Enjoy Mardin, happy exploring, 🏴🏴🏴❤️
The bird at 10:07 is the hüdhüd bird. The conversation he had with the prophet Solomon is mentioned in a story in the Qur'an. A very nice story. You are very lucky, although I have lived in Van for the last 3 years due to teaching, I have not seen this bird with my own eyes yet.
Hi! I am watching your wonderful videos since a few months with great delight! Thank you so much for sharing your adventures! I am wondering: how do you find Trudy again when you are parking her in a new town where you just arrived into and that you don't know? Snowy greetings from Switzerland!

Thank you for another good video.. moreover, There is a church in the middel of lake of Van. Akdamar church. Maybe you chould have visited there. Nice and interesting place.
The terrain between Batman and Mardin looks *uncannily* like the eastern half of Washington State, with the rolling brown hills and outcrops of rugged basalt rock. They don't grow cotton there, though, but a lot of wine grapes and hops for beer. 🤤🍷🍺 What has been your experience with Turkey's culture regarding leaving food uneaten at restaurants? Is there any expectation for one to clear their plate(s) at meals? One constant in your videos is the mind-boggling amount of food brought to the table (like the "food bench" with Overlanding Sophia) -- I don't think I could finish and would feel guilty for "wasting food".
Yes a very good question ! We actually carry reusable food containers with us and take any left overs as we literally HATE waste too !! We always make sure we go out filming on an empty stomach too !! LOL 🌺👍
Usually restaurants give the rest of the food to the street animals. That's why many restaurants have their own street animals. They "visit" these restaurants at certain times to get food 😅
