I have a heaard of these birds in my back yard ...tonite they are rolling in the soft dirt and having as good time..I put out a couple of seed blocks this winter...8 blocks later.....(smile) they come eat several times a day..along with the other birds..mostly sparrows..one black bird and 2 pesky mag pies....I enjoy watching them so much!

You caught this male very beautifully! Have you ever heard the sweet little popping sound they make when they gather in groups? I've heard and seen them in large groups when the females are past nesting and hatching, and the little ones have grown a bit. I love quail! Adorable and funny!
He looks like he's blowing a lock of hair out of his face repeatedly, LOL. These guys are soooo cute. I've seen lines of them skittering across the road when I drive up in the hills.
You have produced a wonderful video. Keep up the excellent work. The background music is a very good addition. You might even introduce a few people to the sounds of the world's greater music ability.

We used to have a quail that ran around the house. I used to always thing when the thing yelled like that that someone is in trouble so I would look all around the house cause I thought it kept saying "Help" but hey can you blame me? I was 4 years old!
California Towhee, Western Bluebirds, Wrentit, House Finch, Northern Mockingbird,.. lots of cool birds. Love the Chopin too (was there a piano out there in the chaparral?).
Underneath that scout bird there is a covey theyre the most social birds ever love hunting them these guys are Cali valley gambels don't have the gold on there chests by have a orange cap on there heads
My dad, the hunter, would get some of these beauties. My mom refused to have anything to do with the process - she said "You kill um, you clean um, you cook um." Dad did just that. They were real good eating. But I would rather see ones, like this budgy cutie, live free.
i got my own quail call and i made a trap for them. i want to make a pen and breed them i think that would be cool, only theyd be 10x fatter than they already are... so PURE ROUND hehe

R5H4D0W Those are male quails. They are quite big. The female quails are smaller and make a higher pitched preening sounds that sounds like laser beam.

okay, now my Grey Parrot is doing a perfect Quail call thanks to this video. He even asks "what's a quail?" before he does it.
