- So glad I could finally return to Mary Charles Doll House!! This doll store opened in the 1970’s and is located in Birmingham Alabama! They also have an incredible selection of 1:12 scale dollhouses and miniatures! The Madame Alexander section is incredibly impressive though those aren’t my interest. This sort of store is so incredible and exciting to find since, for the most part, the collector stores that still operate are focused mostly (or exclusively) on action figures and comic books. I also like that this store combines new old stock (and new stock) sales with thrift-style product sales as well. Such an exciting and magical place. Not many of these types of stores still exist unfortunately :(
It’s super special to see pristine Pleasant Company American Girl dolls and Silkstone and original Barbie dolls in great shape all in one place.

Arabian Nights was from a set of outfits that was made for Barbie based on fairy tales. There was also a Little Red Riding Hood, a Cinderella, and maybe a fourth one, maybe not? My reference books are in storage. The weird plush dog was from a pajama set. These were all mid-sixties Barbie fashions. This store is a goldmine and deserves to be treasured: there are so few actual brick and mortar doll stores left. They’re unlikely to last without people like you caring. 😢

Aw the american girl you picked up is super cute. I was not really into the 18 in dolls until my daughter seemed to like them. We have discovered there are some we like and others that we don't as much. For american girl and our generation. My daughter really fell in love with an american girl we found thrifting who has had a bad haircut. Blonde wavy hair and ice blue eyes. Not sure which she is but she has a short bob cut now. I did my best to style it nice for her. But she is her favorite. I loved the video. I had watched the first one to that store and loved it also. I could not tell in the madame alexander room but did they have the alex dolls. It was their attempt at dolls like tonner dolls. They are fashion dolls. I have found some reasonably priced. I do have a small collection of the alex fashion dolls. They are very nice. The clothing quality is amazing. I still have to try their clothing on my tonner dolls but they look to be similar size. I was looking for them but did not see any in the room. I may go back and see in the video. They would be similar in size to your titanic doll.
So cool to see those in package Ginny clothes! I have my aunt's childhood Ginny doll from 1954 with a handful of original outfits, and every time I see Ginny stuff it's like "Hey! I know her!"

I love the cat barbies. They had a number 3 ponytail Barbie that was really beautiful.
What a great find! :) I collect 1:12 miniatures, they are my favorite along with SSC and very old antique dolls like jumeaus or french bebes. As for Madame Alexander, I'm not into the small dolls at all, only the larger ones. Which includes the vintage 18 inch Alexander dolls which were designed for the original My Life As dolls, back in the early days. Those original MLA dolls have very beautiful face sculpts. But I loved seeing the Alexander section in the store and very curious about what great finds must be in there! I only have 1 AG doll and if I ever get another I'd like it to be Mia St. Clair. Your new AG is adorable. :) I love all the little cabinets and 18 inch scale furniture and the tiny miniatures. What treasures.

What an amazing store
I don't collect miniatures per say, or 1/12 scale, but I do collect miniture stuff for my Barbies & Barbie house. If it happens to be 1/12, but works for my Barbies, then that's OK. I just bought a landline telephone that it perfect size for Barbie.

Oh what a shame :( it was somewhere right by where I lived in the Brodie oaks area. I swear it was a fever dream. I have a business card as proof of it somewhere but that’s about it. I just remember like a month later wanting to return and it was gone. But this was 2018-2019?
@@xCanadensis It is, very sad :( I too wanted to revisit the shop as well. I believe it was 2015-2016 it closed? I’m not familiar with the area unfortunately. All I remember and know is that it was called “Kerbey Lane Doll Shoppe” and it was on Kerbey Lane. A popular BJD collector from back in the day use work there and make videos. Sadly she has since privated all her videos. But there’s at least 2 that others have uploaded here.
This seems like a really cool store! I only collect American girl, so I loved seeing all the AG’s they had.

When you were looking at the miniatures and talking about how you can't get into it and how the blind box bjds almost got you into it... They absolutely got me into it! I finally caved and went 1/12 scale bc it's so much easier to find pieces for it + it's easier to store and display. Plus it kinda justifies my bjd purchases bc I have a place to put them now!!! Especially bc finding stands for that scale is a bit difficult. I suppose the one thing is that it's not cheap! Even building a house from a kit I had to buy paint and wallpaper paste and sandpaper and stain and all types of stuff and it adds up.

Love when you take us shopping, I do love miniatures and have loved them since I was in kindergarten, I use some of the items for Barbie but I do have the Black cat family from Calico critters the critters have a kidcraft dollhouse they use it's fun finding cute mini things!!!

I do 1/12 and 1/6 scale miniatures. If you look into it there is an entire community around 1/6 scale miniatures and they come just as beautiful and realistic out of all kinds of materials in 1/6 too. ❤

I got so excited seeing that AG mini room couch set!!! (I have mine still but it might be missing some things rip) My sister and I each got 2 full room sets and 1 rooftop set for Christmas presents and we’re still obsessed with them to this day! It breaks my heart how much they resell for, even individual items that are minuscule are priced crazy. I would absolutely love to have more of them😩
Great video! This local store is just a true treasure and has been around since the 70s (in a different location). Mary Charles herself and her staff are gems! Stop in if you’re anywhere in the area, it’s absolutely worth a leisurely visit!

Just came across your video wow such a cool store. I am a Barbie fan ever since i was a child i am so mad my parents gave all mine away. So trying to get an original Barbie as close as i can. I didn’t realise they do the Christmas ones aswell. I also love my Ariel Little Mermaid which i had the original again was given away. Cannot find another to replace. Don’t know why parents like passing your toys to other children when they think you are grown out of them. Those antique cats and dogs are cute too. Wow your background so many Bratz and Lol dolls. I like keeping mine in mint condition inside there boxes.

The Austin store closed, closest store like that is in Houston, the doll hospital in old town spring. Used to go there regularly when I was living in Houston and I never got to see the Austin one as it’s been closed for at least 10 years.
I miss doll shops there used to be so many more in the 90s. Internet pretty much has shut most of them down now.
Also; I had the “Lazer green” eyed girl of today as a kid with the dark brown hair and bangs. #10. I miss her, been trying to refind her…😅she’s expensive.

barbie fashion model collection is the name of a line designed exclusively by robert best. silkstone is just the name of the material the bodies are made of. barbie collectors often do use the word silkstone and bfmc interchangeably but there are also silkstone barbie dolls that aren’t apart of the bfmc line.

@@xCanadensis lol I would imagine! I’m still in a daze that this store actually exists. There are zero stores like this in my area (as far as I know). Zero. There haven’t been for ~20 years. I would consider eating lead paint to go to this store.

Personally, I don't like how loud the current one is as it's very distracting and kinda hurts my ears... I'm not sure if I'm the only one who's affected by it, do note I have autism so that might be why I notice it more, but I just thought I'd let you know as I do really like your videos and this one was a gem, but the music does hurt a bit :((

Im sorry :( the new phone’s microphone has this really obnoxious buzzing sound that I’m masking with the music. I set it to like 10% volume so I can barely hear it :/ the buzzing and other background noise in public drives me absolutely bonkers so I’ve been attempting to make it better as best I can.
@@xCanadensis Ahh, don't worry! For me it's quite loud even though I don't put videos at a high volume but I tend to pick up background noises much more so that's probably why 😅
I'll try to ignore it then, but maybe you can experiment with music as this one's jumping in sound a lot and has a very specific kind of sound that's like "shrill"? I'm not sure if that's a word in English or if you understand what I mean. Of course it's totally fine if you don't want to because it does take time 💖
I got you! I picked pikmin music because it’s a bit more low key but this one does have highs and lows… I’ll figure it out! Sorry it’s so bothersome 😭 I needed it just loud enough to cover up the weird background noise but quiet enough to not be overly distracting.
