when I saw that cracked knuckle I thought to myself "how the heck is he gonna fix that?" That's why we don't throw out scrap bits of brass, Excellent job.
Great tip on the rotor linkage, thanks ;)

@@wesleemusicrepair9820 And the problem is that the original joint was brazed, so you can't just heat it up and remove it - right?

I wish I had had someone like you to fix the buckle on my first trombone--a Bach 36B. I'd probably still have it!

Absolutely lovely! My sister plays a trombone like this one. She is a professional bone blower 😁 and when he was alive, she played in Bob Hope's Washington DC Stage Band. We both played in the Montgomery County (Maryland) Symphonic Band during the latter half of the 1970's , she was was first chair trombone, and I was first chair euphonium. All those private lessons apparently paid off! My sister is still active in a horn based pop music band, I retired my horn a while back (though I still have it). My embouchure isn't what it used to be, but I can still blow a clear note and play the major and minor scales around the circle of fifths!

I had a Bach trombone when I was in HS and at Miss St, it could have used some loving that you give, but that was 40 years ago

What’s that grease you used to make the rotor so quiet?

I was wondering, why not do the nasty rotor fix first as the bell section was always just dents and creases you know can be fixed?

Nope - never heard a bach rotor that quiet and I have a 50B bass trombone with two of them. Wish I had sent it in and had "mini ball mechanisms" installed instead of the mechanism from the factory.

Wes, what was that stuff that you put in the rotor linkage to make it quiet?

    • @wesleemusicrepair9820

That was just heavy tuning slide grease. Looked like super slick. And the technique is like packing a wheel bearing.

I use a teflon grease normally for bicycle bearings. Nice and quite, but needs a fresh fill every 2 to 3 month. Great job on the bach by the way. I am playing a 36B with rotor since 1980. And I still enjoy the lightweight slides every day. Good investment that days. Stay safe everybody. Greetings from Germany. Cheers Ulf
