I’m an audiophile and use high res tracks that I’ve ripped personally and upsampled. Obviously this didn’t a hifi vehicle but I do have my entire music collection that I carry on a DAP. To use this functionality best I use the aux input.
Ground clearance reminds me of my old 2002 Bugeye WRX. I'd head to work (early morning before a ton of plowing in the apartment complex) and that thing was a champ plowing itself through the lot as long as it wasn't more than a foot or so deep.
Item 1, thanks so much for the Super Thanks! Item 2, I think your opinion about Subaru design is totally reasonable. They're one of those brands whose products are distinct but not necessarily attractive.
I do use the aux on my 2018 124 Spider. I have an aftermarket carplay/android auto unit that I play through that aux jack because the audio quality is noticeably better on the bose system in that car than bluetooth is.
Coming from a Prius to an Outback, I love being able to floor it from a stop in a turn and know that the wheels won't spin out delaying my get-up-and-go...
For the 2024 models, Subaru still offers a CD player, and it installs in the center console storage compartment. Hopefully, they'll continue to offer it in the 2025 models.
I had a 2022 that I preordered before it hit dealers so I had one of the first off the line. Overall I liked the car but the rattles in mine drove me insane. I think being such an early run, mine had more than a usual Subaru. I eventually dropped the headliner myself and found the sunroof bolts not fully tightened allowing the washer on the bolt to rattle around. Also, windshield had to be replaced under warranty due to the seals creaking loudly in cold weather. There were many other rattles I couldn’t find. I loved how the car drove though. Did wish mpg was better. Subaru allowing only certain options in 2022 on the GT (which could only be a CVT) annoyed me. In the end though, with this review, $45k for a non STI WRX is crazy
Please stop dissing the aux-in already. It takes next to no space and some people like it. With so many non-functional blank "buttons" littering the cabin of so many cars, there's really no need to pick on a functional aux-in.
I think it’s interesting, and not “dissing” at all-it’s genuinely curious. Someone has done the math at Subaru and concluded that keeping the aux port makes them enough sales to justify the $0.50 per vehicle cost.
@ I suspect that this actually comes from not wanting to re-design their system. I don’t think there’s a single person on this planet who chose the Subaru over another car because of the AUX input in the last 15 years.
Not an STi they just decided to load it up with the blue accents usually reserved for the old STi’s and say the tS is “tuned by STi” 😂 Such a tease from Subaru!
I have a wrx, a pacifica, and a telluride for my fam. I assure you, the wrx is not an ideal do it all family car. Get one for fun if you want but no one should delude themselves into thinking its a good choice for a family vehicle.
Well that sure is "something". Its no STI. Its not good enough to wear the badge, and it is waaaay too dang expensive. That is an absurd amount of money for a couple cheap bolt on upgrades. Just buy a premium trim and mod to your liking. You will have a better car for much cheaper.
@waykool698 "Best" is a relative term. If by that you mean "most expensive", then sure. This is supposed to be a track focused "race ready" Subaru. In that sense, the intended buyer IS ACTUALLY the type who will be out there wrenching on their car. But the sad reality is people buy thing like this just to LOOK like they are track guys. They want the image, not all the actual work and effort of racing and maintaining a track car. If you arent willing to put in the work, why would you buy this to begin with? Its no better than the base model if you arent going to actually do sports car things with it.
I owned an 06 STI in black with gold BBS wheels and the big fast and furious spoiler.. That was a really cool, fun, car.. I think that generation is the last one i would have ever bought in wrx/sti trim.. The newest one feels really fat.. it looks huge too if you park it side by side with that generation.. I guess i should be glad it exists at all, but part of me wishes it died with that generation and it's dignity..
Agreed agreed. The 04-07 sti was the Pinnacle. Imagine if you kept It and had kept it mint. Have you seen what the og STis are going for these days? My friend in college got a new off the showroom 04 sti and beat the snot out of it (no respect), always made me cringe. I had an 02 WRX and a 19 WRX now but a mint 2004 WRX is still my dream car to this day.
Granted the Lexus is prettier. However, it has less power and the exhaust doesn't sound nearly as good. I have a 2024 wrx and I can't imagine myself having more fun in a Lexus.
The lexus isnt nearly as engaging as a wrx. Comparing a WRX to a Lexus IS is like comparing apples to oranges. Some people really appreciate the connected/driver focused experience- a vehicle you need to put effort into and get rewarded while driving. The Lexus isn’t nearly as engaging. In a world where manuals have become a rarity, the WRX is a phenomenal choice. If you want a comfortable/no hassle experience, buy a Lexus. If you want a thrilling, capable, old school feeling driver’s car, the wrx is the far better option. @thelemonpepperdone I can tell you havnt driven a wrx much or at all. Take it from somebody who currently owns both an IS and a WRX.
How much do you think an STI would cost today? If they make it more powerful than that competition (Golf R, GR) then it can likely be North of 50k. With WRX sales numbers, it's almost a miracle we even got a new Gen. It doesn't seem worth it to them.
@ a lot less than you think. And even if they sold it for $50k, if it was a REAL STI, plenty of people would buy it. Either way doesn’t excuse the fact that they’re putting out cars slow than their *20 year old* counter parts. We get more efficient at making things as time goes on, not worse
@ How a lot less? The GT and the tS are in the mid 40's with the same power figures. The full Sti treatment with the differentials AND a power bump would not be less than 50k. Adding power every generation is costly, which obviously gets passed down to the consumer. They already did their homework with this new motor that shines with mods so go that route. As if enthusiasts ever leave their car stock anyway.
Subaru killed the base because everyone was buying the base and it has almost no profit margin on it. WRXs are FAR more expensive everywhere outside of N. America, so they make profits there.
Aux is quick and simple. No haggles
Love the aux in for nostalgia sake lol. And nice job Evie with the manual didn't look rusty at all!
Still the Top Auto Review Family on TH-cam!
Nice Subaru.
Great review as always. Thanks family!
Doing our best, Jeff!

Yes, I still use and need AUX !
I have SO much music on my iPod and I need the AUX to connect.
Thanks f ir the great reviews!!
😊
As a musician, I often plug my laptop into aux in to mix for car tests.
Why not use USB?

Good FAMILY Micah!
Hey Micah you did amazing job. KBB might be proud of you. Keep going your goal is to reach 40 millions subscribers
Thanks! Great video as always. I continue to think Subaru styling is not for me. Well, the BRZ is handsome.
Item 1, thanks so much for the Super Thanks!

Brian test with horn check and elbow comfort rating make your channel the most relatable and thus superior car review channel on TH-cam.

was your prius model awd?
@mouseclicksforu9724 no
My wife is so bummed that CD players are about gone in cars now. She still likes burning her own mixes.
For the 2024 models, Subaru still offers a CD player, and it installs in the center console storage compartment. Hopefully, they'll continue to offer it in the 2025 models.
Fantastic review as always!😸

Technically using an aux in, but it's plugged into a bluetooth receiver since my head unit doesn't have it.
My car is so old it doesn't even have an aux jack 😢
I can't bare to trade my old subie for that huge new screen /versus tactile buttons
agreed.
Yeah, it's a downgrade in some ways. I will say the big screen is nice for Android Auto or Apple Carplay!
Please stop dissing the aux-in already. It takes next to no space and some people like it. With so many non-functional blank "buttons" littering the cabin of so many cars, there's really no need to pick on a functional aux-in.
But an excellent review as usual.
Let’s just start dissing the people that like the AUX port. There’s no even-remotely-modern device that doesn’t work far better with a USB.
I think it’s interesting, and not “dissing” at all-it’s genuinely curious. Someone has done the math at Subaru and concluded that keeping the aux port makes them enough sales to justify the $0.50 per vehicle cost.

You can also get a CD player that goes in the center console! Kudos Subaru!

If you want the best factory car, this is it. Not everybody is out there, wrenching on their cars.

No rear vents is a deal breaker in Arizona.
I connect the aux to my fiio
I like the look a lot
Anything in the works for a
WRX wagon...as Impreza RS
went 1/2 way there 🤔
Thoughts?
No thoughts as there isn’t.
Outback Touring XT. If only it came with a stick…
Subaru never stopped making WRX wagons. They simply refuse to import them into the US.
The sedan looks nice, but a wagon/hatch is so much more practical, in my opinion 🙂
Will you do a review of a truck that has a front bench seat? -Am curious
It’s a nice vehicle, but not for 45k. It’s an Impreza with some upgrades, but not 20k worth.
Especially without the old 2.5T exhaust note.

I'm not really digging the blue interior. It would have been fine with blue stitching only, but the two tone leather interior isn't doing it for me.
Not sure how I feel about the blue either. I think red would look better.
Like it!
The Civic hybrid is actually faster than the SI and gets way better gas mileage so why won’t you just get that?
Where’s the roll cage
Thanks for the review! Interesting car, but why oh why the the Crosstrek exterior cladding? It would look so much better in body colour.
Ahh snake has long torso. Good one
😎👍
This car makes absolutely no sense at this price point. Why would anyone in their right mind buy this over a one year old Lexus IS
Granted the Lexus is prettier. However, it has less power and the exhaust doesn't sound nearly as good. I have a 2024 wrx and I can't imagine myself having more fun in a Lexus.
Plus no manual gearbox in a Lexus
@@leoanajamieson how does the is have less power when it comes with a V6?
@@williamconrad1087 so a manual gear box makes a WRX with a couple bolt ons worth 40 plus. That make no sense

Subaru forgot how to make STIs and it’s sad. 20 year old cars are faster than their modern counterparts

@@gothops154 they didn't forget, it's about cost. Inflation has sky rocketed.
New here, why doesn't anyone have an actual name here? Kiddo? Sweety?
No wonder people always put hella horns on these.
Manual! ❤
Yes!! So great to see a new car with a manual transmission. There aren't too many left. ☹️

Classic business move
