Every Aussie who grew up in the 80's & 90's has seen this skit !! Billy toured here many, many times and is probably the most famous 🏴 Scot in Australia. He is absolutely beloved by Australians and this very old video of him is iconic and sold millions of VHS Tapes, every Dad got a copy for Father's Day 👍😁
This is my favourite comedy routine of all time. It was for comic relief and I had the cassette tape of the concert with him doing this one. My friends and I would listen to it all the time during our high school years in the mid-late 80’s. We would hire VHS tapes of his performances and watch them as well. Finally got to see him live in the 90’s. A couple of years later I was living in Kings Cross in Sydney and I ran into him in the street. Lovely fellow with a real curiosity about the world. Australians and Scots look at the world in very similar ways and use about the same amount of swearing in casual conversation, so Billy’s style of comedy always went down well in Australia (and NZ). These were the first countries outside of the British Isles to take to his humour.
Love Billy. I lived in Townsville for 20 years and saw him live when he was filming his world tour of Australia, i was so sore from laughing by the end.
Billy is the BEST!!! There's no comedian better in my view. The Master of Comedy! Billy has done many shows about Australia. As part of his World Tour's video series, he did a World Tour of Australia. Absolutely brilliant!!!🇦🇺🏴
Love Billy, he is very well known in Oz. I have seen him live on multiple occasions & he never disappoints. He is a great story teller with a natural talent to entertain people. He IS the best comedian/story teller ever.
Saw Billy many years ago in Melbourne. He had us crying with laughter and sliding off our seats. But almost the funnier thing was our friend who was with us and who didn’t laugh once, when asked if he didn’t find Billy funny said, “I didn’t understand a word that he said”. That set us off all over again.
We live in Sydney. My girlfriend (now wife) and I first heard of Billy in the late seventies. We rented a video of his live performances. The video went for about an hour. It took us at least three hours to watch because a) we couldn't understand what he was saying because of the outrageous accent ; and b) once we did understand what he was saying we had to pause or rewind the tape as we were rolling about in hysterics. We've been devoted fans ever since. Him marrying an Australian beauty was the icing on the cake.
Billy is loved in Australia. His "World tour of Australia" where he rides a Harley across the country is brilliant. Watching him dance naked under a full moon at the Pinnacles here in my home state of Western Australia is still funny today.
A year before I emigrated to Australia, I met Billy in a shop promoting his first LP, the Crucifixion. He gladly signed it for me which I still have to this day. @@JudeAussieahh, he was ex military and an ol’ bushy from way back. He used to drill us about safety. Your Dad was probably the same. I think a lot of them were like that in that generation.
I’m Australian. Australia has a bad rap. I’ve watched videos of families running in to mountain lion or a bear. We have zero threats in the bush, apart from the poisonous snakes and spiders. I can kill a spider with my shoe. If I throw my shoe at a mountain lion that would just make it angry. Australia is so safe..
When I was a kid I lived near the reptile park here in nsw, I lived on a bush block and after every rain I would go out and collect funnel webs to take to the park to be milked. They really aren’t to dangerous, they move fairly slow, so are easy to contain, compared to the lightning speed of a huntsman, which are harmless just freaky because of their speed and size, and tendency to hang out right above you in whatever room you are in.
Saw him 13 times down here between 1984 and 2015, and at some point at every single one of those shows - I was absolute rubble. His "prescription windscreen" story just about killed me. 🤣
I'm in Sydney, so I don't know about tropical jellyfish, but the current treatment for bluebottle jellyfish stings is hot water not vinegar. Don't get treatment for stingers and octopuses confused! Bluebottles are very painful but not really harmful; blue ringed octopus bites are painless at first but can kill. A medical website says, "If you’re able to get intubated and put on a ventilator in time, it’s possible to survive the bite"!
God he’s s funny man. I’ve seen him live five times. Every time I was a puddle of laughter. He’s such a wonderful human being. His wife (like myself) is Australian - and he’s been to Oz many times. He’s soooo funny about our um….. wildlife & his terror responses to them.
I was listening to this sketch “A Dangerous Place” in December 1989. Just then a M5.6 earthquake hit Newcastle NSW. The record scratch sound effect was real! 😅

@@JudeAussieahh, he was ex military and an ol’ bushy from way back. He used to drill us about safety. Your Dad was probably the same. I think a lot of them were like that in that generation.
Billy, you are the funniest man alive, no kidding.❤❤❤
Billy is wonderful, love his work. Yes we relate to Billy …
We love him in Oz. Never have enough of his humour. 😂
in my opinion, billy is probably the greatest comedian ever, i have watched many many videos, sadly never seen in person, he is the genius goat,
His stories of life on the scottish docks remain my fav. The greatest.
That's why we love him. Seen him several times on his tours here. We've officially adopted him.😂😂❤
I lived in Townsville and we used to take vinegar to the beach.
Only thing that fall out of tress in Australia are the drop bears. Plenty down in Victoria…
Saw him at the Sydney Opera house back in the early nineties.
Laught so hard it was painful. I was still saw two days later.
Saw him 13 times down here between 1984 and 2015, and at some point at every single one of those shows - I was absolute rubble. His "prescription windscreen" story just about killed me. 🤣
Spiders, Stingers, Snakes,Crocs,we even have a bird that will kill, only if you annoy it! 😂
Who hasn’t heard of Sir Billy Connolly? I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him perform live, twice
I met him at Mardi Grass in Sydney. Have some good photos of him that day, he was hilarious in real life 😍
The Boosh. 🤣🤣🤣 Love Billy.
I was listening to this sketch “A Dangerous Place” in December 1989.
Just then a M5.6 earthquake hit Newcastle NSW. The record scratch sound effect was real! 😅
Seen Billy in Oz a few times, a very clever & funny man....this story i have heard him tell live :)
He’s probably the funniest man that I know of. There are a lot of golden nuggets on TH-cam but my favourite clip has to be ”Worst pain known to man”. I could hardly breathe from laughing myself senseless the first few times I watched it.
We all love Billy Connolly. 🇦🇺👍
Billy is adored here in Oz. Have seen him 4 timesI could be mistaken and am happy to be corrected(it was a lifetime ago) but I recall my Glaswegian grandparents going to his first show here in the mid 70s when he was still unknown. He had been promoted as a traditional scottish singer and dancer😂 and a scttish pensioner jumped on stage and decked him for his foul language.
As an old person I remember him well and he's freaking amazing. I think that he may have lived here for many years. He's married to a New Zealander who also lived here I think.
🏴 Absolutely brilliant 💯 Billy is one of the best comedians ever
One of the greatest.
1st time ive seen this one. I absolutely love it.
Oh God yes, seen him every time he's had a show here, he's the best, right up there with Robin Williams.
Absolutely perfect comedy and correct 💯👌
Yeah love Billy. Had the privilege od seeing him live here at the Sydney Opera House a few years ago. Funny as hell...
Thanks for that bud. I was in tears
Haven't been to see him. But love him .
Seen him five times in Perth. He always had to extend the number of shows he did. He also did an around Australia documentary.
