NEMOPHILA started out as session band and supposed to be a one-off session as the "Mayu Session" band assembled by mayu (ex-LIPSTICK vocalist) who approached her school friend, Haraguchi-san (ex-HöLDERLINS bassist). They later made contact with Murata Tamu (ex-Soramimi drummer). Mayu can't play guitar well so Murata Tamu introduced them to SAKI (Mary's Blood & AMAHIRU guitarist, ex-Destrose), who later brought along Hazuki (Li-sa-X BAND & Disqualia guitarist) with her, completing the superb veteran quintet. Their sound is heavy since Saki & Hazuki are using 7 strings guitars. Haraguchi-san is using 5 strings bass. Murata Tamu is still using double pedals 🤔 ...with most adorable smile but fierce drummer. Mayu might have another set of lungs to accommodate her banshee-like 'thunder throat' -and you haven't heard her screaming yet. Try DISSENSSION (mv) or OIRAN (live) to listen to what I describe as banshee-like screaming. When NEMPOHILA emerged, the Japanese rock/metal scenes knows they meant business because individually, they are all quite well-known and respectable musician. If you really want to see her pound the drums, xheck out their cover of X Japan's Kurenai. Another drummer you have to check out is Akane from Band Maid. Absolutely amazing. Band Maid are special. Nemophila is pure 🔥🔥. Nemophila play a variety of styles and excel at all of them. Tamu is a world class drummer, Saki is a guitar legend in Japan. The rest are equally skilled. Nemophila never disappoints, all their songs and covers are fantastic. I recommend you check out Revive next.

5:25 You are not alone when it comes to liking the harmonized guitar solos, it seems like in japan they really love the "twin guitars" (that's a popular term there) as opposed to having only one guitarist always being the solo star. One of the main reasons I fell in love with japanese bands 10 years ago was the amount of bands doing solos like this, like Versailles for example. Unlucky Morpheus often harmonizes Guitar and Violin on their live solos.
I have so far three Japanese bands that I really love: BAND-MAID, Nemophila and Girls Rock Band Kakumei (later TRiDENT). And all because of the drummers in each band. I knew Tamu before but didn't know she was in Nemophila. In Girls Rock Band Kakumei there is an extremely talented drummer who calls herself Junna. She's really spectacular to see when she plays. Search for Junna and you will see for yourself. She quit in the band to make her own solo career. Today they changed band name to TRiDENT. When I watched videos from these groups, there were always comments about Akane in BAND-MAID. How good she was, which I unfortunately ignored for a long time. Then I happened to see DICE by chance and since then I'm a fan of BAND-MAID - I became a MAIDIAC like everyone else. What sets BAND-MAID apart from the others is that they have a little genius in Kanami when it comes to writing songs. How she comes up with everything and makes it fit so perfectly is a mystery. And she is constantly producing new! She is truly unbeatable. As some have already mentioned, Nemphila is a small super group, where everyone comes from other famous groups and you can really see how they grow for each song they release. I'm pretty sure they'll become world celebrities one day. These three bands have made me believe in good music again and I thank them for this!

5 string basso and 7 string guitars. In case you don't know them, other awesome all-female rock bands are Thundermother, Burning Witches, Nervosa and Crypta (the later two quite heavier than the rest, heh). Each member of Nervosa is from a different country, including an Italian bassist. :-)
