    This actually made a lightbulb go on in my head. So that's how drawing random objects in sketchbooks could be fun and useful instead of boring!

    It's amazing to see an accomplished artist still using sketchbooks as practice zones, which makes me feel less insecure as a complete beginner :,)

    • @ProkoTV
      @ProkoTV  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +17

      Never let go of sketchbooking for practice and exploration! You need that space to grow and just have fun, alongside your pieces made for show.

      Still using? Why would a pro stop? Here is the difference between a pro and someone who doesn't get anywhere and just complains about not being any good. A pro always has a sketchbook with them no matter what and fills 5 through 20 of them a year. "Regular" people who doodle fill one in about 5 years and pat themselves on the back.

    • @ProkoTV

      @@ducksoff7236 There are plenty of professional, skilled artists who don't carry a sketchbook around with them 24/7. That's not a requirement at all, though some people enjoy that.
      And many pros don't keep a sketchbook that's just for practice either. That's what Audrey seemed to be getting at. Many artists don't have a sketchbook just for fun or exploration. Many that we see are seemingly curated and made to be showpieces. That's how we're reading their words, at least.

      @@ProkoTV I think what ducksoff is actually referring to is that artists should be practicing all the time. Sure, there are many pros who don't use sketchbooks, but they will do a ton of study, reference, and design work before working on the final piece.

    this series inspired me to start a new "pen only" sketchbook to increase my observational skill. I'm more of a painter and drawing is sometimes like a chore to me. But every good painting needs a good drawing underneath. It's also interesting to see how these different artists use their sketchbooks

    This is such a good contrast to Peter Han's sketchbook video where his were full of very detailed sketches, Devin's are more simplistic while still having a large variety of designs with more basic shapes

    I love how she breaks down her processes. It's very inspiring hearing them laid out so plainly. Such a talent! I need to incorporate some of her ideas into my own practice sessions.

    Loving all these sketchbook videos! You can really hear the passion and love of art that people like Devin Elle Kurtz or Peter Han have when they’re going through the pages. Definitely makes me just want to doodle in my sketchbook more.

    holy moly, it's Devin Elle Kurtz! Some time ago I stumbled upon her ink art on her youtube channel, which is amazing!
    She has been my inspiration to do ink wash.
    It would be cool if she had course on Proko on ink wash and inking in general! 🙏🙏🙏

    her sketchbook is inspiring!!
    oooh this is exactly what i did before doing a big project! I always need to learn and get used to drawing a certain plant, certain leaf, certain animal, etc. my sketchbook may be awkward as a result but i "left behind" the learning curve before i was able to draw the project for real. also thumbnailing in skecthbook.

    Notes to self
    Shapes, Structure, Forms to try to understand what the object looks like and how to break it down so you can use it from your visual memory and be able to manipulate it as you desire.
    I feel I’m never ready to draw for myself without knowing everything. But damn is that a paralyzing feeling.

    16:12 I have her 7 Eleven Dragon print framed on my wall! I also have another with two kids finding a dragon on an old abandoned car. I can’t tell you how many times I just stare at them for inspiration, but also just to escape. I get a strong sense of nostalgia from her work. I love it so much.

    Autistic sidenote: the photo shown on the bearded dragon page was an australian water dragon! they're like beardies' swimsuit model cousin

    Actually I've had the idea to do studies like these. I need to learn more about Structures, Interiors, Furniture, Plants, Animals etc. My only thing is I like to be more organized. I do have a sketch book separate for Animals/creatures, and another I am using for Manga Reference drawing currently. A good idea, I will further utilize this.

    Btw who handles the subtitles for the videos? I’ve been wondering this for a while

    • @ProkoTV
      @ProkoTV  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      For our uploaded subtitle tracks, those are made using a subtitle software and a little bit of human oversight to make sure it doesn't have any big issues.
      But there are also the options for auto subtitles, both English and other languages that people may come across. We don't create those.

      looks like someone lacks eyes ! its also a sign of extreme skill to be able to simplify . she clearly has a grasp on form and detail that's apparent in her full pieces . and even clear in these simpler sketches . not to mention the lineart . trust me, no kid could replicate that with ease
