    When to replace a tire?
    When you see the inner tube 😂

    Great video, perfect timing! Just yesterday I changed to winter tires and was wondering if my summer tires were still any good.

      @@KP-ol3tc thanks! So what is the state of your summer tires?? How you make a decision whether to throw them away or keep it? 🤘🏼

      @ The center tread looks good, just some abuse to the outer knobs because of the rough granite here in Northern California. After this video I think I will keep the front tire and throw away rear because it has a 3 month old tire plug in it. I normally use Vittoria Barzo(f) and Mezcal(r) but I'd like to try the new Peyote

    My rule of thumb is when it comes a time that I don't feel I can relay on tire like for example there were puncture, sealant + plug did a good job but just before riding u realize that there is significantly less air then it should be. There are of course more these little details that tells me - sorry the threads are good but I can;t no longer relay on this tire. Another one is that after a season of riding tire is tired that should be replaced - maybe it looks ok but 4k kilometers for a tire is enough to be changed. Most of my rides and marathons are in dry conditions but if I know that i will be riding in slippery mud i will not wait for a crash, just replace a tire earlier and feel more confident. So having a new tire is probably cheaper then resolving effects of not changing tire on time.

      Great insights! That makes me feel peaceful that there are people like you, who cares! :) Ignorance is never a good approach, if there is possibility to improve it for the better.

    I ride my MTB with 2.6 tires on the road often (90% pavement, 10% single track) and get about 3200km out of my rear tire. Do you recommend any tires that would last longer or is that as much life as I can expect out of any tire?

    • @tom10crafted
      @tom10crafted  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That is quite decent distance. What tires these are?

      @@cityless7798 with such percentage on the pavement/tarmac, I don't see any good reason for none of those - tire selection and width.
      Ideally, consider more rolling, less chunky tires. Those 10% looks like absolute overkill for this selection

      @ Thanks. I use them to slow me down so I can ride safely on bike paths, so higher RR and wider are helpful 😄. I wish the tires lasted longer, though.

      @@cityless7798 thats funny, never heard such a reasoning, ha! Maybe adding sand into tires could help, huh?😅
      Nevertheless, look for harder compound rubber, as such trail tires are def more softer:)

    Tires are so important, nothing beats a fresh rubber, always feel bad riding on pavement LOL. I get anywhere between 1,000-2000 miles on them, use the same tire as you, started with the light version got flats, switched to the pro wall version, and like it way better, seems to corner better, maybe that is in my mind. But no more flats.. when are you going to do a deep dive into chain waxing!! I hope your doing that now it is so good for wear and tear on chains.

    • @tom10crafted
      @tom10crafted  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@davidmaco1 better corning can be definitely not placebo when it comes to lite vs pro wall. Reason being - with thinnier sidewalls it tends to “bend” a bit more, thus it requires bit more pressure.
      I don’t do waxing, BUT that is not because I don’t believe it - just seems to be bit too much time involved for my taste 👀

    With xc rc, the sidewalls are the weak points, the tread is the strong point. My son hasn't flattened one yet(43kg), last race was with 2.2 lites and sealant removed from the rear, along with race wheels he destroyed the other guy which has been beating him in previous three races. He has been asking me to put the stock basic tires back on so he can do skids, but answer is no, want him to train on the 2.4 xc rc so he can race on the 2.2 lites with handling not too dissimilar. I watched another video from a different channel with xc rc being used for 2 seasons and sidewall wear was shown. I personally have xc h on the rear but still wondering what I should put on the front, any suggestions? Tried xc rc on the front and it felt awesome, but not sure about colour mismatch.

      If we talk about RC/H versions of tires, personally I would put H in front, if having that combo. Also, there are other RC color versions (not necessarily yellowish team version), which could look OK together? Congratz on your sons racing, yet don't push him too much, haha!
