I am from Brazil. I was in Cartagena in 2015. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen in my life. A feast for the eyes! And Colombians are extremely kind and gentle people. Hands out chocolates to the hotel staff before returning to say thank you for the excellent reception my husband and I had in Cartagena. Salutos de Brasil a los hermanos colombianos.

Cada vez que voy es como si fuera la primera vez. Sé que otras ciudades tienen lo suyo , pero esta ciudad es la mejor de Colombia. Obvio tiene su lado no tan lindo,pero su " parte buena" es la mejor.

Another magnificent video of Cartagena, a town that represents the highest achievement of Spanish Colonialism in South America. It seems that the city has been transformed significantly since I arrived there on a boat in 1989 from Panama in my 1969 VW campervan. It was my first port of call in South America and the beginning to a spectacular and truly memorable driving experience of my life enhanced even further having read a book called, "The Capture of the Spanish Treasure Fleet" in 1628 which gives a full description of life during this era and when those huge city walls and impregnable fortresses (which I walked around) played a vital roll in protecting the Spanish trade from other European countries. Awesome and fascinating history, one of the highlights of South America. Thanks again for the memories that you have brought back to me by watching this video. This honestly seems like the perfect place for vacations, man modern building to get the resort type of experience and very interesting and beautiful city center, book me in for sure, too bad Covid-19 is happening right now because i have 2 free weeks.
It’s a really stunning city, I’ve been there July of last year and it’s unforgettable. It’s rich in its history. There’s a river that flows through the city which splits the modern area with the old town, which makes for a great contrast. Highly recommend it!

I like to think that if time lasts, that one day when you are tired of travel, you and a gentle and lovely mate will retire to such a place with narrow cobble stone streets, bougainvillea growing up the walls, umbrella canopies and that we, your fans, will be regaled by the "Amazing Places" and things, that only you, your eyes and talent will dig out of the world around you then and there. (But only if that is what you would choose, of course :)

In the historic center of Cartagena everything is almost clean but just outside the walled city is a mess
It's the historic center, it's what tourists come to see. Outside the walled city it is not the same.
