This is really helpful advice, especially the bit about dropping body IDs and seasonal colour analysis. I've started wearing black again (I'm probably a soft autumn idk) and I feel so much better for it.
I watched a video a couple months ago about Kitchner’s color typing process (different from seasonal) and he will include both black/white AND charcoal/ivory for some peoples’ color palettes. Which honestly seems so much more reasonable
this is a great reminder that I need to chill out lol I've also been unhappy with my style lately and looking into the different theories (essences, body IDs, colors). I feel like I've reached a saturation point in absorbing new information. But also one of the videos I watched (don't remember who it was, sadly) was about how you can take, for example, your Kibbe ID suggestions and go against them on purpose to create an edgy effect. Like, if you dress within your Kibbe-suggested lines, you will look harmonious with the outfit, but if you don't, you can create different effects (of course, sometimes that effect may be that it just doesn't look good lol).
I thought color seasons and kibbe were going to be soooo helpful. But after buying a bunch of clothes, I realized that while some things might complement my body, they don't complement my true sense of self. I also realized my fantasy self was heavily based on internal pressures. I struggle with this idea that I need to be super colorful and feminine to attract the kind of men I'm interested in. But that just doesn't feel like me. In some sense I've broadened my sense of personal style, which is helpful. But I've boxed myself into a negative sort of fantasy self that I now need to break out of.
I still have a long way to go on determining my own Kibbe body type but I personally lean to a feminine style, so I’ll have to find a middle ground if my type is something different hehe 🌙
🌑 So I am in my early 50s, and I am constantly deciding what looks good at different sizes, with colors, with styles, and comfort is also a big one when it comes to pants, shoe/boots etc. I don’t care about these types, I just think about what I wore, put effort into, then got compliments on. I have some black window pane fitted pants, that go great with a polka dotted hoodie under a Pendleton wool plaid blazer with doc or Chelsea type platform boots. For this season plaid fitted pants and boots and turtlenecks are my go to lately. And btw. I like all these videos because you seem like such a nice person I could be friends with, loved your other channel videos that were peaceful too 🤘🏼
I agree about storage, and about clothing not being superficial. I've been widowed very recently, and there are things which I just don't want to wear right now (difficult memories, or they bring out the increased dark circles under my eyes 😝) But I will probably need and enjoy them in the future.
🌒 new subscriber and so pleased to be here. I feel like I went through this from 2019 after having my second baby and being new to my 30s. it's been so fun getting to know my zillionth new body and making friends with it through buying it pretty clothes. my wardrobe's stayed relatively stable since last year but I'm finding new ways to wear all my stuff which is unexpected but fun :)
🌙 Would be fun to see some kind of a holiday season lookbook, just anything from ugly christmas sweater-vibes to glam or cozy, if that's a video idea that resonates with you :)
🌙did you darken your hair? I thought you had the most beautiful shade of red in your hair and I thought it looked great on you, but this warm chocolate brownish warm blackish dark hair made your pinkish skin tone shine, you now have a vampiric gothic vibe which I adore so much! You look amazing ❤️ And about that outfit style thing... 6-7 years ago, there was a color block trend, every outfit had a bright color and I thought that must be a classy trend which would look good on me. I bought a lot of bright greens oranges reds yellows. I didn't have any neutral classic pieces. All of them were main statement pieces, which collapsed each other. I would wear purple pants, orange top, mint green necklaces, yellow jackets, white shoes together. Now I realize, I was a trainwreck then. Because my body type is dramatic classic as you, and I need to wear classic black white pieces all the time. I started taking photographs of my outfits, and I slowly turned to clean girl aesthetic. Now I look tidy, classic and cool. I thought it would look boring to wear classic lines all the time, but I don't have gamine lines, color blocking didn't look good on me.
Thanks! I haven’t used any reddish hair dye in *almost* two years lol, it just fades to a brassy color in between 😅 so depending on when I film it looks different (Edited bc I had the amount of time wrong)
🌙 so am in the middle of the process and new to your channel. i also just started my MSW this fall. so im kinda wondering if ill use my degree or not lmao. anyway, yes this is great!
I loved this video, thank you 🌙 do you have a style analysis video where you state in one video all the things that you learnt to enjoy or embrace in this phase of your life? I saw your kibbe video, but I'm also so interested in other things you mentioned like Kitchener essences, Style thoughts by Rita quadrant, internet aesthetics you enjoy and so on

I'm also trying to add 🌛 to my comment but youtube is having none of it 😂

Yesss! FR. I'm pretty sure I'm deep winter, but maybe a sprinter. Also, I'm an olive so it breaks the rules
This is a wonderful reminder that style and preferences can change over time and we don't have to keep one style forever.
YESSSS!! And that we don't need to follow the opinions of strangers online
🌙 I love your slow approach, and the learn-by-doing attitude... You just inspired me to try
Same here

Really enjoyed your thinking. Thank you for other TH-camr recommendations!
🌙 thank you for this video even though it’s a year or two old

Best video I’ve come across regarding how to change your personal style. ❤

Love this!! I'm working through my style too!! And I so agree that you still gotta make your own choices
